Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei is reportedly in extremely critical condition, according to a report citing sources close to President Masoud Pezeshkian’s administration, intensifying speculation over the health of the country’s top leader.
IranWire, citing two sources familiar with the Iranian administration, reported that concerns over Khamenei’s condition are circulating at senior levels of the Iranian establishment. One source reportedly said officials would not be surprised if news of his death emerged soon.
The reports have not been independently confirmed, and there has been no official announcement from Tehran that Khamenei has died.
Mojtaba Khamenei became Iran’s supreme leader after his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in US-Israeli strikes on February 28. He was subsequently chosen by Iran’s Assembly of Experts to succeed his father.
His prolonged absence from public view has remained a major source of speculation.
Since assuming the position, Khamenei has not appeared in a live public broadcast and has largely communicated through written statements.
He was reportedly injured in the initial strikes that killed his father and subsequently moved to a secure location because of concerns that he could also be targeted.
Reports have suggested that his injuries may have been serious, although Iranian officials have disputed accounts describing his condition as severe.
Pezeshkian says direct contact is difficult
The latest speculation has been reinforced by comments from President Masoud Pezeshkian, who acknowledged in a state television interview that communicating directly with the supreme leader is currently “very difficult”.
The unusual restrictions surrounding Khamenei’s communication and the absence of public appearances have prompted repeated questions about both his physical condition and his ability to exercise the full authority of Iran’s supreme leadership.
Earlier reports have also questioned his whereabouts. In July, Saudi broadcaster Al-Hadath, citing an Israeli security source, reported that Khamenei was outside Iran. That claim has not been independently established.
US President Donald Trump has also previously made claims about Khamenei’s condition.
In a July interview with Fox News, Trump said Iran’s senior military leadership had been eliminated and described Mojtaba Khamenei as “90% gone”, apparently referring to the extent of his incapacitation following the military campaign.
Conflicting accounts over Khamenei’s injuries
Iranian authorities have previously sought to counter reports that Khamenei suffered devastating injuries in the February strikes.
Officials from Iran’s Health Ministry have described his initial injuries as superficial, while senior figures in the Iranian establishment have maintained that he remains capable of issuing strategic instructions and overseeing major state decisions.
Foreign and opposition-linked sources, however, have repeatedly claimed that Khamenei suffered severe or disfiguring injuries and has been forced to remain away from public view.
The conflicting accounts, coupled with his continued absence, have created an unusual information vacuum around Iran’s highest office.
Earlier reports had similarly described Khamenei as injured but alive and operating from a secure location with restricted communications.
Leadership uncertainty grows
The latest reports come at a sensitive time for Iran, where questions over the supreme leader’s health could have significant political and strategic implications.
Khamenei’s absence has already raised questions about how decisions are communicated within the Iranian leadership and the extent to which other institutions, including the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and the presidential administration, exercise authority.
For now, however, reports of Khamenei’s imminent death remain unverified. No official Iranian source has announced his death, while conflicting claims about his health and whereabouts continue to circulate.

नई दिल्ली: ईरान के सर्वोच्च नेता मोजतबा खामेनेई की हालत बेहद गंभीर होने की खबरों के बीच उनकी संभावित मौत को लेकर अटकलें तेज हो गई हैं।
ईरानवायर ने राष्ट्रपति मसूद पेजेशकियन के प्रशासन के करीबी दो सूत्रों के हवाले से बताया कि खामेनेई की स्थिति को लेकर ईरानी सत्ता प्रतिष्ठान के उच्च स्तरों पर गंभीर चिंता बनी हुई है।
रिपोर्ट में एक सूत्र के हवाले से कहा गया है कि यदि जल्द ही खामेनेई की मौत की खबर सामने आती है तो अधिकारियों को आश्चर्य नहीं होगा।
हालांकि, इन दावों की स्वतंत्र रूप से पुष्टि नहीं हुई है और तेहरान की ओर से उनकी मौत की कोई आधिकारिक घोषणा नहीं की गई है।
मोजतबा खामेनेई ने अपने पिता अयातुल्ला अली खामेनेई की 28 फरवरी को अमेरिका और इजरायल के संयुक्त हमले में मौत के बाद ईरान के सर्वोच्च नेता का पद संभाला था।
इसके बाद ईरान के विशेषज्ञों की सभा ने उन्हें नया सर्वोच्च नेता चुना।
सर्वोच्च नेता बनने के बाद से मोजतबा खामेनेई सार्वजनिक रूप से सामने नहीं आए हैं। उन्होंने लाइव टेलीविजन संबोधन या सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रमों में हिस्सा लेने के बजाय मुख्य रूप से लिखित बयानों के माध्यम से अपनी बात रखी है।
रिपोर्टों के अनुसार, 28 फरवरी के शुरुआती हमलों में वह घायल हो गए थे और बाद में उन्हें सुरक्षा कारणों से सुरक्षित स्थान पर ले जाया गया।
उनकी चोटों की गंभीरता को लेकर हालांकि अलग-अलग दावे सामने आते रहे हैं और ईरानी अधिकारियों ने गंभीर रूप से घायल होने की खबरों को खारिज किया है।
पेजेशकियन ने कहा- सीधे संपर्क करना बेहद मुश्किल
खामेनेई की स्थिति को लेकर नई अटकलों को राष्ट्रपति मसूद पेजेशकियन की हालिया टिप्पणी से भी बल मिला है।
सरकारी टेलीविजन को दिए एक इंटरव्यू में पेजेशकियन ने स्वीकार किया कि सर्वोच्च नेता से सीधे संपर्क करना फिलहाल “बहुत मुश्किल” है।
खामेनेई के सार्वजनिक रूप से अनुपस्थित रहने और उनके साथ सीधे संवाद पर लगाए गए प्रतिबंधों ने उनकी वास्तविक स्थिति तथा देश के सर्वोच्च पद की जिम्मेदारियां निभाने की उनकी क्षमता को लेकर सवाल खड़े कर दिए हैं।
इससे पहले जुलाई में सऊदी अरब के प्रसारक अल-हदथ ने एक इजरायली सुरक्षा सूत्र के हवाले से दावा किया था कि मोजतबा खामेनेई ईरान में नहीं हैं। इस दावे की स्वतंत्र पुष्टि नहीं हुई है।
अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति डोनाल्ड ट्रंप भी इससे पहले खामेनेई की स्थिति को लेकर दावा कर चुके हैं। जुलाई में फॉक्स न्यूज को दिए इंटरव्यू में ट्रंप ने कहा था कि ईरान के शीर्ष सैन्य नेतृत्व का सफाया हो चुका है और मोजतबा खामेनेई “90 प्रतिशत खत्म” हो चुके हैं।
उनका बयान कथित सैन्य अभियान के बाद खामेनेई की गंभीर रूप से कमजोर स्थिति की ओर संकेत करता था।
खामेनेई की चोटों पर अलग-अलग दावे
फरवरी में हुए हमले के बाद ईरानी अधिकारियों ने खामेनेई की चोटों को लेकर सामने आई गंभीर खबरों को कमतर बताया था।
ईरान के स्वास्थ्य मंत्रालय से जुड़े अधिकारियों ने उनकी शुरुआती चोटों को सतही बताया था। वहीं, ईरानी सत्ता प्रतिष्ठान के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों ने दावा किया था कि वह अब भी रणनीतिक निर्देश देने और देश के महत्वपूर्ण मामलों पर निगरानी रखने में सक्षम हैं।
इसके विपरीत, विदेशी तथा विपक्ष से जुड़े सूत्रों ने बार-बार दावा किया कि खामेनेई को गंभीर अथवा चेहरे को प्रभावित करने वाली चोटें आई हैं और इसी वजह से उन्हें सार्वजनिक जीवन से पूरी तरह दूर रहना पड़ा है।
इन परस्पर विरोधी दावों और उनकी लगातार सार्वजनिक अनुपस्थिति ने ईरान के सर्वोच्च पद को लेकर असामान्य सूचना शून्य पैदा कर दिया है। इससे पहले की रिपोर्टों में भी उन्हें घायल लेकिन जीवित बताया गया था और कहा गया था कि वह कड़ी सुरक्षा वाले स्थान से सीमित संचार के जरिए काम कर रहे हैं।
ईरानी नेतृत्व को लेकर अनिश्चितता बढ़ी
मोजतबा खामेनेई की हालत को लेकर ताजा रिपोर्ट ऐसे समय आई है जब ईरान के राजनीतिक और सैन्य नेतृत्व के बीच सत्ता संचालन को लेकर सवाल उठ रहे हैं।
सर्वोच्च नेता की लंबे समय से अनुपस्थिति ने यह सवाल भी खड़ा किया है कि ईरान में महत्वपूर्ण फैसलों का संचार किस स्तर से हो रहा है और राष्ट्रपति प्रशासन तथा इस्लामिक रिवोल्यूशनरी गार्ड कॉर्प्स सहित अन्य संस्थाओं की वास्तविक भूमिका कितनी बढ़ गई है।
फिलहाल मोजतबा खामेनेई की मौत की खबर की आधिकारिक पुष्टि नहीं हुई है। तेहरान ने भी उनकी मृत्यु की घोषणा नहीं की है।
उनकी स्वास्थ्य स्थिति और ठिकाने को लेकर परस्पर विरोधी दावे सामने आने का सिलसिला जारी है।
