New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on citizens to turn the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign into a nationwide celebration by displaying the Tricolour at their homes ahead of Independence Day on August 15.
In a message shared on Instagram on Tuesday, Modi urged people to participate in the campaign and mark the occasion with a sense of pride and respect for the country’s freedom struggle.
Calling on citizens to remember those who fought for India’s independence, the Prime Minister also urged people to renew their commitment towards building a developed India, or ‘Viksit Bharat’.
The 2026 edition of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign is being observed during August, encouraging people across the country to bring the national flag into their homes and make it part of the Independence Day celebrations.
The initiative seeks to strengthen public participation in Independence Day festivities and reinforce the symbolism of the Tricolour as a representation of India’s freedom and national identity.
In his appeal, Modi urged citizens to hoist the national flag at their homes and participate in the campaign under the slogans ‘Har Ghar Tiranga, Ghar Ghar Tiranga, Har Mann Tiranga’.
The Prime Minister’s appeal comes as preparations intensify for the country’s 80th Independence Day celebrations on August 15. The occasion will be marked with programmes honouring India’s freedom fighters and highlighting the national commitment towards the country’s future development.
A separate announcement from Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has added a new feature to this year’s Independence Day proceedings at the Red Fort.
Gupta said on Tuesday that ‘Vande Mataram’ will be sung collectively from the Red Fort before the National Anthem on Independence Day. She described the proposed rendition as a significant and historic occasion.
According to Gupta, this will be the first time that a collective rendition of the national song is held at the Red Fort immediately before the National Anthem.
She said ‘Vande Mataram’ has occupied a lasting place in India’s freedom movement and described it as an enduring national mantra that inspired revolutionaries and reflected the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence.
The two appeals—Modi’s call for households to participate in ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ and Gupta’s announcement concerning ‘Vande Mataram’—come as the capital and the rest of the country prepare for Independence Day ceremonies.
With the Tricolour campaign encouraging participation at the household level and the Red Fort programme adding a collective musical tribute to the freedom movement, this year’s celebrations are set to combine public participation with traditional national observances.

नई दिल्ली: स्वतंत्रता दिवस से पहले प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने मंगलवार को देशवासियों से ‘हर घर तिरंगा’ अभियान में उत्साहपूर्वक भाग लेने और हर घर में तिरंगा फहराकर इसे राष्ट्रीय उत्सव का रूप देने की अपील की।
प्रधानमंत्री ने इंस्टाग्राम पर अभियान से संबंधित एक वीडियो साझा करते हुए नागरिकों से स्वतंत्रता दिवस को गर्व और सम्मान के साथ मनाने का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने स्वतंत्रता संग्राम के सेनानियों को श्रद्धांजलि देने और विकसित भारत के निर्माण के संकल्प को दोहराने की भी अपील की।
मोदी ने देशवासियों से आह्वान किया कि तिरंगा केवल सरकारी या सार्वजनिक कार्यक्रमों तक सीमित न रहे, बल्कि हर घर में स्वतंत्रता दिवस की भावना का प्रतीक बने।
उन्होंने ‘हर घर तिरंगा, घर-घर तिरंगा, हर मन तिरंगा’ के संदेश के साथ लोगों को अभियान से जुड़ने के लिए प्रेरित किया।
‘हर घर तिरंगा’ अभियान का 2026 संस्करण अगस्त में मनाया जा रहा है। इसके तहत देशभर के नागरिकों को अपने घरों पर राष्ट्रीय ध्वज फहराने और स्वतंत्रता दिवस समारोहों में सक्रिय भागीदारी के लिए प्रोत्साहित किया जा रहा है।
इस अभियान का उद्देश्य लोगों को स्वतंत्रता दिवस के उत्सव से सीधे जोड़ना और तिरंगे के माध्यम से देश की आजादी तथा राष्ट्रीय एकता की भावना को मजबूत करना है।
प्रधानमंत्री की अपील 15 अगस्त को होने वाले देश के 80वें स्वतंत्रता दिवस समारोह से कुछ दिन पहले आई है।

उन्होंने मंगलवार को कहा कि इस बार लाल किले की प्राचीर से राष्ट्रगान से पहले सामूहिक रूप से ‘वंदे मातरम्’ का गायन किया जाएगा।
गुप्ता ने सोशल मीडिया मंच एक्स पर इसे गौरवपूर्ण और ऐतिहासिक अवसर बताया। उनके अनुसार, लाल किले पर राष्ट्रगान से ठीक पहले सामूहिक रूप से ‘वंदे मातरम्’ का गायन पहली बार किया जाएगा।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि ‘वंदे मातरम्’ भारतीय स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन के दौरान लंबे समय तक प्रेरणा का स्रोत रहा और इसने क्रांतिकारियों में देशभक्ति की भावना को मजबूत करने के साथ स्वतंत्रता सेनानियों के बलिदान को स्वर दिया।
प्रधानमंत्री की ‘हर घर तिरंगा’ में भागीदारी की अपील और दिल्ली मुख्यमंत्री की लाल किले से जुड़े कार्यक्रम की घोषणा ऐसे समय हुई है जब देशभर में स्वतंत्रता दिवस की तैयारियां अंतिम चरण में पहुंच रही हैं।
इस वर्ष के आयोजनों में एक ओर घर-घर तिरंगा फहराकर आम नागरिकों की भागीदारी सुनिश्चित करने पर जोर है, वहीं लाल किले पर ‘वंदे मातरम्’ के सामूहिक गायन की योजना स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन की स्मृतियों को राष्ट्रीय समारोह से जोड़ने का प्रयास है।
