Policeman Killed in Anantnag Terror Attack; Massive Search Operation Launched During Amarnath Yatra Security
Srinagar: A Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel was killed in a terrorist attack in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Wednesday, ending months of relative calm in the Valley and raising fresh security concerns during the ongoing Amarnath Yatra.
The attack took place near Lal Chowk in Anantnag, where armed terrorists opened fire on a police team deployed in the area.
Head Constable Ashiq Hussain sustained critical gunshot injuries and was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Anantnag.
Despite emergency medical treatment, doctors could not save his life.
He was serving with the 3rd Battalion of the India Reserve Police (IRP) and was deployed on Amarnath Yatra security duty.
Immediately after the attack, security forces launched a massive cordon-and-search operation across the surrounding area.
Additional contingents of the Jammu and Kashmir Police, Central Armed
Police Forces and other security agencies were rushed to the spot, while checkpoints were strengthened across Anantnag and adjoining areas to track down the assailants.
Security agencies have intensified surveillance by conducting vehicle checks and searches in sensitive locations.
Investigators are examining CCTV footage, eyewitness accounts and other evidence as efforts continue to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack.
According to the latest developments, The Resistance Front (TRF), believed to be a proxy outfit of the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), has claimed responsibility for the attack through a social media message.
Security agencies, however, are verifying the authenticity of the claim as part of the ongoing investigation.
The incident marks the first major terrorist attack targeting a Jammu and Kashmir Police personnel during the current Amarnath Yatra and the first such attack in the Valley since the Pahalgam terror attack on tourists in April last year.
Following the incident, security arrangements along the pilgrimage route and across south Kashmir have been further strengthened.
Senior police officials have said those responsible for the attack will be tracked down and brought to justice.
Search operations continued in and around Anantnag till late Wednesday, with security forces maintaining a high alert across the region.

इस घटना ने घाटी में कई महीनों से बनी अपेक्षाकृत शांति को झटका दिया है और अमरनाथ यात्रा के दौरान सुरक्षा व्यवस्था को लेकर नई चिंता पैदा कर दी है।
जानकारी के अनुसार, अनंतनाग के लाल चौक क्षेत्र में तैनात पुलिस दल पर आतंकियों ने अचानक गोलीबारी कर दी। हमले में हेड कांस्टेबल आशिक हुसैन गंभीर रूप से घायल हो गए।
उन्हें तत्काल सरकारी मेडिकल कॉलेज अस्पताल, अनंतनाग ले जाया गया, जहां उपचार के दौरान उन्होंने दम तोड़ दिया।
वह इंडिया रिजर्व पुलिस (आईआरपी) की तीसरी बटालियन में तैनात थे और अमरनाथ यात्रा की सुरक्षा ड्यूटी पर नियुक्त थे।
हमले के तुरंत बाद जम्मू-कश्मीर पुलिस, केंद्रीय अर्द्धसैनिक बलों और अन्य सुरक्षा एजेंसियों ने पूरे इलाके की घेराबंदी कर व्यापक तलाशी अभियान शुरू कर दिया।
अतिरिक्त सुरक्षा बलों को मौके पर भेजा गया तथा अनंतनाग और आसपास के संवेदनशील क्षेत्रों में नाकेबंदी और निगरानी बढ़ा दी गई।
जांच एजेंसियां हमलावरों तक पहुंचने के लिए सीसीटीवी फुटेज, प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के बयान और अन्य तकनीकी साक्ष्यों की जांच कर रही हैं।
साथ ही, विभिन्न स्थानों पर सघन वाहन जांच अभियान चलाया जा रहा है ताकि फरार आतंकियों का जल्द पता लगाया जा सके।
ताजा घटनाक्रम के अनुसार, पाकिस्तान समर्थित आतंकवादी संगठन लश्कर-ए-तैयबा (LeT) के प्रॉक्सी संगठन द रेजिस्टेंस फ्रंट (TRF) ने सोशल मीडिया के माध्यम से इस हमले की जिम्मेदारी लेने का दावा किया है।
हालांकि, सुरक्षा एजेंसियां इस दावे की सत्यता की स्वतंत्र रूप से जांच कर रही हैं और आधिकारिक पुष्टि का इंतजार किया जा रहा है।
यह हमला वर्तमान अमरनाथ यात्रा के दौरान जम्मू-कश्मीर पुलिस को निशाना बनाकर किया गया पहला बड़ा आतंकी हमला माना जा रहा है।
साथ ही, पिछले वर्ष अप्रैल में हुए पहलगाम आतंकी हमले के बाद घाटी में यह पहली बड़ी आतंकी वारदात है।
घटना के बाद अमरनाथ यात्रा मार्ग और दक्षिण कश्मीर के अन्य संवेदनशील इलाकों में सुरक्षा व्यवस्था और कड़ी कर दी गई है।
वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों ने कहा है कि हमले में शामिल आतंकियों को जल्द गिरफ्तार कर कानून के कठघरे में लाया जाएगा।
समाचार लिखे जाने तक पूरे क्षेत्र में तलाशी अभियान जारी था और दक्षिण कश्मीर में सुरक्षा एजेंसियां हाई अलर्ट पर थीं।
