Policies Being Formulated Today Will Shape India’s Destiny for the Next Millennium, Says PM Modi on Civil Services Day
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a gathering of civil servants and dignitaries on the occasion of Civil Services Day on Monday, underlined the far-reaching significance of the policies and decisions being taken under his government’s leadership.
He stated that these initiatives are not merely designed to address present-day challenges but are intended to lay the foundations for India’s future growth and stability for the next thousand years.
Speaking at the event, held in New Delhi, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that the vision of his administration revolves around inclusive and holistic national development.
He asserted that true progress cannot be considered complete until every village is developed, every family is empowered, and not a single citizen is left behind or overlooked.
He stressed the importance of equitable growth that reaches even the remotest corners of the country, ensuring that development is not limited to urban or privileged sections of society.
“The policies we are conceptualizing, refining, and implementing today — as well as the decisions we are taking across different sectors — will determine the shape of India’s destiny for the coming thousand years,” Modi declared, highlighting the scale and long-term vision of his government’s planning.
The prime minister further noted that India is in the midst of a historic transformation, driven largely by its energetic and ambitious aspirational society. He praised the rising determination of the country’s youth, the resilience and potential of its farmers, and the strength and aspirations of women.
According to him, these groups are collectively raising the bar of the nation’s dreams to unprecedented heights.
“To match the pace of these soaring ambitions,” Modi said, “the country requires not only progressive ideas but also extraordinary speed in the execution and delivery of governance.”
He urged the administrative machinery, especially civil servants, to rise to this challenge by adopting a mindset that embraces both urgency and excellence.
Reflecting on India’s journey over the past decade, the Prime Minister pointed out that the country had moved far beyond small, incremental changes and had instead embraced a path of bold and impactful transformation.
This, he said, had positioned India as a leader in setting new global benchmarks in areas such as governance, transparency, technological innovation, and public service delivery.
In today’s technology-driven world, Modi explained, governance is no longer confined to merely maintaining existing systems or following conventional procedures. Instead, modern governance is about leveraging technology and innovation to expand possibilities, create opportunities, and multiply impact.
Citing the example of the G20 Summit hosted by India in 2023, the Prime Minister described how the government’s approach to public participation, or ‘janbhagidari’ (people’s involvement), had transformed the summit from a diplomatic event into a vibrant mass movement that captured the imagination of citizens and won global appreciation.
“India is no longer just a participant on the world stage — it has taken the lead,” he remarked, underscoring the country’s rising international stature.
In a heartfelt message to the country’s civil servants, Modi stressed the importance of remaining empathetic and attentive to the needs and struggles of the underprivileged and the marginalized.
He urged government officers to make a conscious effort to listen to the voices of the poor, to understand their perspectives, and to prioritize finding solutions to their problems.
Concluding his address, the Prime Minister reminded the civil services fraternity of their crucial role in ensuring the successful implementation of government policies and programs.
He emphasized that only through compassion, dedication, and a proactive approach could India achieve its goal of becoming a developed and inclusive society
