Prayagraj Class 10 Student Dies by Suicide After Alleged Harassment and Marriage Pressure; Accused Arrested

A tragic incident in Prayagraj’s Meja area has sparked outrage after a 16-year-old Class 10 student allegedly took her own life following prolonged harassment and pressure to marry.

The police have registered an FIR in the case and taken the accused into custody for questioning.

According to the girl’s family, a young man identified as Sachin Patel had allegedly been harassing her for a considerable period.

Her father claimed that the accused would frequently tease and stalk his daughter while she was travelling to and from school.

The family alleged that the harassment had become a constant source of distress for the teenager.

The victim’s father further stated that the accused was repeatedly pressuring his daughter to marry him.

Disturbed by the situation, the family had reportedly raised objections on several occasions and even complained to the accused’s relatives.

However, despite repeated warnings, the alleged harassment did not stop.

Family members told police that complaints had previously been made regarding the accused’s behaviour, but the situation remained unresolved.

They alleged that the continued intimidation and pressure left the young girl emotionally distressed and increasingly fearful.

According to the complaint, the teenager left home on Monday evening at around 7 p.m.

She was later found hanging from a tree. The discovery sent shockwaves through the family and the surrounding village, with residents gathering at the scene as news of the tragedy spread.

After the post-mortem examination, the girl’s body was brought back to the village on Tuesday evening. Grief-stricken relatives broke down as they received her mortal remains.

Amid the emotional scenes, the victim’s father made a heart-rending statement, saying that he would perform his daughter’s last rites only after the accused was killed in a police encounter.

His remarks reflected the depth of anguish and anger felt by the bereaved family.

As the funeral procession moved through the village, family members reportedly warned the accused’s relatives not to attend the cremation.

Emotions ran high, and villagers expressed solidarity with the grieving family while demanding strict action against those responsible.

Meja Police Station Inspector Deendayal Singh reassured the family that a thorough investigation was underway.

He appealed to them to remain patient and allow the legal process to take its course.

Police officials stated that evidence was being collected and that appropriate action would be taken based on the findings of the investigation.

Authorities described the case as extremely sensitive and serious. Police confirmed that an FIR had been registered and that the accused had been detained for questioning.

Investigators are examining all aspects of the allegations, including claims of harassment, stalking, and coercion.

The death of the young student has left the entire village in mourning. Residents say the tragedy highlights the devastating impact that persistent harassment can have on young lives.

Following the post-mortem examination, the body was handed over to the family, and the final rites were performed amid an atmosphere of grief and outrage.
