Prayagraj Declared A Smart City, Lacks Proper Parking Places

Prayagraj, which is going to witness Mahakumbh, is still devoid of proper parking lots.

A city where the population has swelled to 70 lakh has interestingly been granted the status of a smart city. The roads have been widened. Yet there exists chaos in the city due to haphazard parking, paricularly by fourwheelers, though this is closely followed by two wheelers.
Whether it’s the Chowk, Civil Lines, Katra, or any other market, all these lack proper and developed parking places.
As a result road jans are a routine. During peak hours the situation becomes worse.
Former Railway PRO Manzar Kartar, says they lifted his vehicle for wrong parking in Chowk. I had to pay a fine. But tell me a parking place in Chowk, he asked. There’s no parking at any of the entry points in Chowk and it appears that such a facility would be provided in the future.
The same goes with Civil Lines. People enter this famous market with big vehicles and park their vehicles without looking around for clearance of other vehicles, says Ajay Sahu a businessman.
Divakar Shukla, a lawyer says coming to the district court from Chowk becomes difficult for him daily. At times he takes 40 minutes to reach the court. The same happens during the return journey in the evening.
One wonders when authorities would wake up to take steps so that traffic snarls are reduced.
