Prayagraj: Woman Suffers Throat Injury After Husband’s Alleged Attack During Domestic Dispute in Thatheri Bazar of the city.
Prayagraj: A domestic altercation in the Tharwai market area of Prayagraj took a violent turn on Wednesday afternoon when a man allegedly attacked his wife with a sharp-edged weapon, inflicting a serious injury to her throat.
After the incident, the accused reportedly reached the police station carrying the weapon and informed the police about what had happened.
Medical personnel admitted the critically injured woman to SRN Hospital, where doctors stated that her condition remains serious.
Police have taken the accused into custody and initiated legal proceedings.
According to the police, the accused has been identified as Abhishek Gupta, a resident of Tharwai market under Chowk Kotwali police station limits.
He had married Shashi Gupta, a resident of Kaushambi, around 12 years ago. The couple has two children—a son and a daughter.
Abhishek is engaged in the tobacco trade, while Shashi works at a beauty parlour in Civil Lines.
Investigators said marital discord had been continuing between the couple for several days. On Wednesday afternoon, Abhishek allegedly attacked his wife at their residence.
Hearing her cries for help, family members and neighbours rushed to the spot and immediately shifted her to a nearby hospital before she was referred to SRN Hospital.
Police officials said a formal complaint has been received from the victim’s brother.
Further legal action will be taken after recording the injured woman’s statement and based on the findings of the investigation.

प्रयागराज: शहर के ठठेरी बाजार क्षेत्र में बुधवार दोपहर पारिवारिक विवाद ने उस समय भयावह रूप ले लिया जब एक व्यक्ति ने कथित तौर पर अपनी पत्नी पर धारदार हथियार से हमला कर दिया। हमले में महिला के गले पर गंभीर चोट आई।
घटना के बाद आरोपी हाथ में चाकू लेकर स्वयं कोतवाली पहुंचा और पुलिस को पूरे घटनाक्रम की जानकारी दी।
गंभीर रूप से घायल महिला को तत्काल स्वरूप रानी नेहरू (एसआरएन) अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया, जहां चिकित्सकों ने उसकी स्थिति नाजुक बताई है। पुलिस ने आरोपी को हिरासत में लेकर मामले की जांच शुरू कर दी है।
पुलिस के अनुसार, आरोपी की पहचान चौक कोतवाली क्षेत्र के ठठेरी बाजार निवासी अभिषेक गुप्ता के रूप में हुई है।
लगभग 12 वर्ष पूर्व उसका विवाह कौशांबी निवासी शशि गुप्ता से हुआ था। दंपति के एक पुत्र और एक पुत्री हैं। अभिषेक तंबाकू के कारोबार से जुड़ा है, जबकि शशि सिविल लाइंस स्थित एक ब्यूटी पार्लर में कार्यरत है।
प्रारंभिक जांच में सामने आया है कि पति-पत्नी के बीच पिछले कुछ दिनों से लगातार मनमुटाव चल रहा था। बुधवार दोपहर इसी विवाद के दौरान अभिषेक ने कथित रूप से घर में पत्नी पर हमला कर दिया।
महिला की चीख-पुकार सुनकर परिजन और आसपास के लोग मौके पर पहुंचे तथा उसे तत्काल उपचार के लिए अस्पताल पहुंचाया, जहां से उसे एसआरएन अस्पताल रेफर किया गया।
पुलिस का कहना है कि पीड़िता के भाई की ओर से तहरीर प्राप्त हुई है। घायल महिला का बयान दर्ज किए जाने और जांच में सामने आने वाले तथ्यों के आधार पर आगे की विधिक कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
