Raipur Family Tragedy: Man Suspected of Poisoning Wife and Three Children Before Dying by Suicide
Raipur: A shocking family tragedy has come to light in Chhattisgarh’s capital, where five members of a family were found dead inside their rented house in Sanjay Nagar under the Tikrapara police station limits.
Preliminary investigations indicate that 50-year-old Sajid Ali alias Sajju allegedly poisoned his wife and three children before ending his own life by hanging.
Police, however, have said the exact sequence of events will be established only after forensic examination and post-mortem reports.
The deceased have been identified as Rabia Bano (45), Irshad Ali (20), Shahida Begum (15), and Irshaba Parveen (12). The family had been living in the rented accommodation for several months.
According to investigators, the house had remained locked since Thursday, prompting neighbours and the landlord to grow suspicious after repeated attempts to contact the family failed.
Concerned residents alerted the police after a foul smell began emanating from the locked house.
When officers forced open the main door on Friday night, they found Sajid hanging inside the house, while the bodies of his wife and three children were lying on the floor. The gruesome discovery left the neighbourhood in shock.
Initial findings suggest that the victims may have consumed food laced with a poisonous substance before Sajid allegedly died by suicide.
Investigators recovered a suspected pesticide container and food samples from the house, which have been sent for forensic examination.
Police have emphasised that the precise cause of death will be confirmed only after scientific analysis and the post-mortem findings are received.
The investigation is now focused on establishing the motive behind the tragedy. Officers are examining Sajid’s mobile phone, financial transactions, and personal background to determine whether financial hardship, family-related issues, or any other circumstances may have contributed to the incident.
CCTV footage from the surrounding area is also being scrutinised to reconstruct the family’s final movements. No suicide note has been recovered so far.
Police have sealed the house and registered a case of unnatural death while awaiting forensic and autopsy reports.
Officials have reiterated that no conclusion will be drawn until all scientific evidence is examined, although the investigation is currently proceeding on the suspicion of a murder-suicide.

प्रारंभिक जांच में आशंका जताई जा रही है कि साजिद अली उर्फ सज्जू (50) ने कथित रूप से अपनी पत्नी और तीन बच्चों को जहरीला पदार्थ देने के बाद फांसी लगाकर आत्महत्या कर ली।
हालांकि पुलिस का कहना है कि घटनाक्रम की वास्तविक पुष्टि पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट और फोरेंसिक जांच के बाद ही हो सकेगी।
मृतकों की पहचान राबिया बानो (45), इरशाद अली (20), शाहिदा बेगम (15) और इरशाबा परवीन (12) के रूप में हुई है।
परिवार पिछले कई महीनों से किराये के मकान में रह रहा था। बताया गया कि गुरुवार से मकान बंद था। लगातार संपर्क न होने और बाहर न निकलने पर पड़ोसियों तथा मकान मालिक को संदेह हुआ।
बंद मकान से दुर्गंध आने पर स्थानीय लोगों ने पुलिस को सूचना दी। शुक्रवार देर रात पुलिस ने दरवाजा तोड़कर घर में प्रवेश किया तो साजिद का शव फंदे से लटका मिला, जबकि पत्नी और तीनों बच्चों के शव फर्श पर पड़े थे।
एक ही परिवार के पांच लोगों की मौत की खबर फैलते ही पूरे इलाके में शोक और दहशत का माहौल बन गया।
प्रारंभिक जांच में यह आशंका सामने आई है कि परिवार के सदस्यों को भोजन में कोई जहरीला पदार्थ मिलाकर दिया गया था। मौके से एक संदिग्ध कीटनाशक का डिब्बा और कुछ खाद्य सामग्री बरामद की गई है, जिन्हें जांच के लिए फोरेंसिक प्रयोगशाला भेजा गया है।
पुलिस ने स्पष्ट किया है कि मौत का वास्तविक कारण वैज्ञानिक जांच और पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट आने के बाद ही सामने आएगा।
जांच एजेंसियां अब इस दर्दनाक घटना के पीछे की वजह तलाशने में जुटी हैं। पुलिस साजिद के मोबाइल फोन, आर्थिक लेन-देन और पारिवारिक परिस्थितियों की जांच कर रही है ताकि यह पता लगाया जा सके कि कहीं आर्थिक संकट, पारिवारिक तनाव या कोई अन्य कारण इस घटना की वजह तो नहीं बना।
आसपास लगे सीसीटीवी कैमरों की फुटेज भी खंगाली जा रही है। अब तक घटनास्थल से कोई सुसाइड नोट बरामद नहीं हुआ है।
पुलिस ने मकान को सील कर मामले में मर्ग कायम कर लिया है। फोरेंसिक टीम ने घटनास्थल से कई नमूने एकत्र किए हैं और पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट का इंतजार किया जा रहा है।
अधिकारियों का कहना है कि सभी वैज्ञानिक साक्ष्यों की जांच पूरी होने के बाद ही घटना के कारणों पर अंतिम निष्कर्ष निकाला जाएगा। फिलहाल जांच हत्या के बाद आत्महत्या की आशंका को केंद्र में रखकर आगे बढ़ रही है।
