Sonam Wangchuk Hospitalised as Delhi Police Refuse Permission for CJP’s ‘Sansad Chalo’ March
New Delhi: Climate activist and education reformer Sonam Wangchuk was admitted to Delhi’s Safdarjung Hospital on Saturday for medical evaluation following concerns over his health, even as preparations intensified for the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) proposed “Sansad Chalo” march to Parliament on July 20.
The development comes amid growing political support for Wangchuk’s indefinite hunger strike, which has now entered its third week.
Delhi Police, however, made it clear that the proposed march towards Parliament would not be permitted.
Senior officers said the demonstration at Jantar Mantar had continued beyond the period for which permission had originally been granted, making the ongoing protest unauthorised.
Authorities warned that any attempt to march towards Parliament would invite police action because of heightened security arrangements during the opening of the Monsoon Session.
Police officials said allowing a large procession into the Parliament security zone could pose serious law-and-order challenges and severely disrupt traffic across central Delhi.
They added that protesters attempting to breach security restrictions could be detained to prevent any disturbance in the high-security area.
According to senior police officers, CJP organisers neither informed the authorities nor applied for formal permission to organise the proposed march.
Officials maintained that permission had been granted only for a one-day protest at Jantar Mantar and that organisers had signed written undertakings to comply with the conditions.
Since the agitation continued without fresh approval, police described the ongoing sit-in as being without authorisation.
The issue has gathered political attention as several activists and opposition leaders have expressed support for Wangchuk’s fast and backed the demand seeking the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over the alleged NEET examination controversy.
The CJP has announced that it intends to proceed with the “Sansad Chalo” programme despite the police’s refusal.
Meanwhile, Wangchuk was shifted to Safdarjung Hospital after the Delhi High Court directed authorities to closely monitor his medical condition.
Doctors said he is weak and mildly dehydrated because of prolonged fasting but remains clinically stable under continuous observation.
In a message issued from Safdarjung Hospital on Sunday, Wangchuk appealed to supporters to make the July 20 march a success, describing it as “India’s second freedom movement.”
At the same time, the Delhi High Court declined to grant interim relief on a plea seeking his transfer to a private hospital, directing that he continue receiving treatment at Safdarjung Hospital until the next hearing.

नई दिल्ली। जलवायु कार्यकर्ता और शिक्षा सुधारक सोनम वांगचुक को स्वास्थ्य परीक्षण और निगरानी के लिए शनिवार को दिल्ली के सफदरजंग अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया।
इसी बीच कॉकरोच जनता पार्टी (CJP) द्वारा 20 जुलाई को प्रस्तावित ‘संसद चलो’ मार्च की तैयारियां तेज हो गई हैं। वांगचुक का अनिश्चितकालीन अनशन अब तीसरे सप्ताह में प्रवेश कर चुका है और उन्हें विभिन्न राजनीतिक दलों तथा सामाजिक संगठनों का समर्थन भी मिल रहा है।
दूसरी ओर, दिल्ली पुलिस ने स्पष्ट कर दिया है कि संसद की ओर प्रस्तावित मार्च की अनुमति नहीं दी जाएगी। वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों का कहना है कि जंतर-मंतर पर जारी प्रदर्शन निर्धारित अनुमति अवधि समाप्त होने के बाद भी जारी है, इसलिए वर्तमान धरना अधिकृत नहीं माना जा सकता।
पुलिस ने चेतावनी दी है कि मानसून सत्र के पहले दिन संसद की ओर बढ़ने की किसी भी कोशिश पर कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
पुलिस अधिकारियों के अनुसार संसद क्षेत्र देश के सबसे संवेदनशील सुरक्षा क्षेत्रों में शामिल है। ऐसे में बड़ी संख्या में प्रदर्शनकारियों के वहां पहुंचने से कानून-व्यवस्था और यातायात दोनों प्रभावित हो सकते हैं।
अधिकारियों ने कहा कि सुरक्षा घेरा तोड़ने का प्रयास करने वाले लोगों को एहतियातन हिरासत में लिया जा सकता है।
वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों का यह भी कहना है कि CJP के पदाधिकारियों ने प्रस्तावित मार्च के लिए न तो कोई औपचारिक सूचना दी और न ही अनुमति का आवेदन किया।
पुलिस के अनुसार जंतर-मंतर पर केवल एक दिन के प्रदर्शन की अनुमति दी गई थी तथा आयोजकों से निर्धारित शर्तों का पालन करने का लिखित आश्वासन भी लिया गया था।
इसके बावजूद बिना नई अनुमति के धरना जारी रखा गया, जिसे पुलिस ने अनधिकृत बताया है।
इस आंदोलन को लेकर राजनीतिक गतिविधियां भी तेज हो गई हैं। कई सामाजिक कार्यकर्ताओं और विपक्षी नेताओं ने वांगचुक के अनशन का समर्थन करते हुए कथित नीट परीक्षा विवाद के मुद्दे पर केंद्रीय शिक्षा मंत्री धर्मेंद्र प्रधान के इस्तीफे की मांग दोहराई है।
वहीं CJP ने पुलिस के रुख के बावजूद ‘संसद चलो’ कार्यक्रम जारी रखने की बात कही है।
दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय के निर्देश पर वांगचुक को सफदरजंग अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया, जहां चिकित्सकों ने बताया कि लंबे समय से उपवास के कारण वह कमजोर हैं और शरीर में पानी की कमी है, लेकिन उनकी स्थिति फिलहाल स्थिर है तथा उन्हें लगातार चिकित्सकीय निगरानी में रखा गया है।
रविवार को सफदरजंग अस्पताल से जारी अपने संदेश में सोनम वांगचुक ने समर्थकों से 20 जुलाई के ‘संसद चलो’ कार्यक्रम को सफल बनाने की अपील करते हुए इसे “भारत का दूसरा स्वतंत्रता आंदोलन” बताया।
इसी बीच दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने उन्हें निजी अस्पताल स्थानांतरित करने की मांग वाली याचिका पर अंतरिम राहत देने से इनकार करते हुए फिलहाल सफदरजंग अस्पताल में ही उपचार जारी रखने का निर्देश दिया है।
