Eight Arrested a Day After FIR in Ram Temple Donation Misappropriation Case
A day after an FIR was registered over the alleged theft and embezzlement of donations made at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, police arrested all eight accused named in the complaint.
The accused were produced before a remand magistrate, who sent them to three days of judicial custody pending further legal proceedings.
Investigators said the case involves allegations of theft, criminal breach of trust, and the illegal diversion of cash and valuables donated by devotees at the temple.
Police Recover Nearly ₹80 Lakh During Investigation
According to Prosecution Officer A. K. Verma, investigators have so far recovered ₹79.80 lakh from seven of the eight arrested persons.
Police believe the recovered cash forms part of the donations that were allegedly siphoned off from the temple collection.
The eighth accused, Subhash Srivastav, was arrested, ed but no cash or valuables were recovered from his possession during the searches conducted by investigators.
Eight Accused Produced Before Court
The arrested individuals have been identified as Avinash Shukla, Lavkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey, Ramashankar Mishra, Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav, and Subhash Srivastav.
Following their production before the court, all eight were remanded to judicial custody for three days. They are scheduled to be produced again before the Prevention of Corruption Act Court for further proceedings.
Driver Linked to Temple Administration Among the Accused
Among those arrested is Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu Yadav, who had worked as the driver of Champat Rai, General Secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Officials said that since the consecration ceremony of the Ram Lalla idol in 2022, Tinnu Yadav had been involved in various operational activities within the temple premises, giving him regular access to internal administrative functions.
Donation Counting Process Under Investigation
Another accused, Subhash Srivastav, is a retired bank employee who supervised donation-counting shifts at the counting centre located inside the Pilgrim Facility Centre (PFC).
The remaining six accused were directly engaged in counting donated cash.
Investigators are examining whether irregularities occurred during the counting process and whether the accused acted in coordination while handling the donations received from devotees.
Serving Bank Employees Also Under Scanner
Prosecution Officer A. K. Verma said investigators are also examining the possible involvement of five to six serving bank employees.
Officials suspect that they may have conspired with the arrested individuals in the alleged embezzlement, although their precise role is still being verified.
One of the allegations under investigation is that members of the counting team allegedly inserted extra currency notes into bundles meant to contain exactly 100 notes before sharing the excess cash among themselves.
Police to Expand Probe with Help from SIT
The investigation is being supervised by Ayodhya Circle Officer Ashutosh Tiwari, who is leading the police team examining the alleged financial irregularities.
Police are expected to seek assistance from the Special Investigation Team (SIT), which had earlier conducted a preliminary inquiry into the allegations.
Investigators may obtain digital records, financial documents, and other evidence collected by the SIT to determine the full extent of the alleged misappropriation.
Officials also said that bank personnel responsible for transporting cash and valuables from the temple to bank branches since 2022 will be questioned again as part of the ongoing investigation.
FIR Filed After SIT Submitted Preliminary Report
The FIR was registered on Thursday at Kotwali Ramjanmabhoomi Police Station on the complaint of Krishna Mohan, a member of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
The complaint was filed two days after the SIT submitted its preliminary findings to the Uttar Pradesh government, prompting the police to initiate criminal proceedings.
RSS Functionaries Express Concern Over Allegations
The arrests, particularly that of Tinnu Yadav, have reportedly caused concern among members of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) because of the temple’s close public association with the organisation.
According to senior RSS functionaries, the allegations have the potential to affect public confidence in the temple’s management.
They stressed that the organisation has consistently advocated transparency, accountability, and the highest standards of integrity in public life.
Another RSS functionary described the episode as a failure of the overall system rather than the actions of a few individuals.
He said the alleged incident highlighted weaknesses in the donation management process and underscored the need for stronger safeguards and a more robust monitoring mechanism to prevent leakages in the future.

दान राशि के कथित गबन मामले में एफआईआर के अगले ही दिन आठ आरोपी गिरफ्तार
अयोध्या स्थित श्रीराम जन्मभूमि मंदिर में श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा चढ़ाए गए दान की कथित चोरी और गबन के मामले में एफआईआर दर्ज होने के एक दिन बाद पुलिस ने शिकायत में नामजद सभी आठ आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया। सभी को अदालत में पेश किया गया, जहां से उन्हें तीन दिन की न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया।
मामला मंदिर में प्राप्त नकदी और कीमती वस्तुओं के कथित दुरुपयोग, गबन और चोरी से जुड़ा है। पुलिस का कहना है कि जांच अभी प्रारंभिक चरण में है और पूरे नेटवर्क की पड़ताल की जा रही है।
सात आरोपियों से ₹79.80 लाख की बरामदगी
अभियोजन अधिकारी ए. के. वर्मा के अनुसार, पुलिस ने अब तक सात आरोपियों के पास से कुल ₹79.80 लाख बरामद किए हैं। जांच एजेंसियों का मानना है कि यह रकम मंदिर में श्रद्धालुओं द्वारा चढ़ाई गई दान राशि का हिस्सा है, जिसे कथित रूप से गबन किया गया।
आठवें आरोपी सुभाष श्रीवास्तव को भी गिरफ्तार किया गया, लेकिन तलाशी के दौरान उसके पास से कोई नकदी या अन्य कीमती सामान बरामद नहीं हुआ।
इन आठ लोगों को बनाया गया आरोपी
गिरफ्तार आरोपियों की पहचान अविनाश शुक्ला, लवकुश मिश्रा, अनुकल्प मिश्रा, मनीष कुमार यादव, करुणेश पांडेय, रामाशंकर मिश्रा, राम शंकर यादव उर्फ टिन्नू यादव और सुभाष श्रीवास्तव के रूप में हुई है।
अदालत में पेशी के बाद सभी आरोपियों को तीन दिन की न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया गया। अब उन्हें आगे की सुनवाई के लिए भ्रष्टाचार निवारण अधिनियम (प्रिवेंशन ऑफ करप्शन एक्ट) की विशेष अदालत में पेश किया जाएगा।
ट्रस्ट महासचिव के पूर्व चालक की भूमिका भी जांच के दायरे में
गिरफ्तार आरोपियों में राम शंकर यादव उर्फ टिन्नू यादव भी शामिल है, जो श्रीराम जन्मभूमि तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्ट के महासचिव चंपत राय का चालक रह चुका है।
अधिकारियों के अनुसार, 2022 में रामलला की प्राण प्रतिष्ठा के बाद से टिन्नू मंदिर परिसर के भीतर कई प्रशासनिक और प्रबंधन संबंधी कार्यों में सक्रिय रूप से जुड़ा हुआ था, जिससे उसे मंदिर की आंतरिक व्यवस्थाओं तक पहुंच प्राप्त थी।
दान की गिनती की पूरी व्यवस्था जांच के घेरे में
आरोपी सुभाष श्रीवास्तव एक सेवानिवृत्त बैंक कर्मचारी है और वह पिलग्रिम फैसिलिटी सेंटर (पीएफसी) स्थित दान गणना कक्ष में शिफ्ट प्रभारी के रूप में कार्य करता था। बाकी छह आरोपी दान राशि की गिनती की प्रक्रिया में सीधे शामिल थे।
जांच एजेंसियां अब यह पता लगाने में जुटी हैं कि दान की गिनती के दौरान कथित अनियमितताएं कैसे हुईं और क्या इसमें सभी आरोपी आपस में मिलकर काम कर रहे थे।
कार्यरत बैंक कर्मचारियों की भूमिका भी जांच के घेरे में
अभियोजन अधिकारी ए. के. वर्मा ने बताया कि पांच से छह वर्तमान बैंक कर्मचारियों की भूमिका भी जांच के दायरे में है। आशंका है कि उन्होंने गिरफ्तार आरोपियों के साथ मिलकर कथित गबन की साजिश में सहयोग किया हो। हालांकि उनकी वास्तविक भूमिका की पुष्टि जांच पूरी होने के बाद ही हो सकेगी।
जांच के दौरान यह आरोप भी सामने आया है कि नोटों की गिनती के समय 100 नोटों के बंडलों में अतिरिक्त नोट छिपाकर बाद में उन्हें आपस में बांट लिया जाता था।
एसआईटी की मदद से आगे बढ़ेगी जांच
पूरे मामले की जांच अयोध्या सर्किल अधिकारी आशुतोष तिवारी के नेतृत्व में की जा रही है। पुलिस अब जांच के दायरे को और व्यापक बनाते हुए कथित गबन के पूरे नेटवर्क का पता लगाने का प्रयास कर रही है।
अधिकारियों के अनुसार, पुलिस विशेष जांच दल (एसआईटी) से भी सहयोग ले सकती है। एसआईटी द्वारा एकत्र किए गए दस्तावेज, डिजिटल रिकॉर्ड और अन्य साक्ष्यों का अध्ययन कर यह पता लगाया जाएगा कि कथित गबन का वास्तविक दायरा कितना बड़ा था।
इसके अलावा वर्ष 2022 से मंदिर की दान राशि और कीमती सामान बैंक शाखाओं तक पहुंचाने वाले बैंक कर्मचारियों से भी दोबारा पूछताछ की जाएगी।
एसआईटी की प्रारंभिक रिपोर्ट के बाद दर्ज हुई एफआईआर
यह एफआईआर श्रीराम जन्मभूमि तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्ट के सदस्य कृष्ण मोहन की शिकायत पर कोतवाली रामजन्मभूमि थाना में दर्ज की गई। शिकायत उस समय दर्ज हुई जब एसआईटी अपनी प्रारंभिक जांच रिपोर्ट उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार को सौंप चुकी थी।
रिपोर्ट के आधार पर पुलिस ने आपराधिक मामला दर्ज कर आगे की कार्रवाई शुरू की।
आरएसएस पदाधिकारियों ने जताई चिंता
मामले में हुई गिरफ्तारियों, विशेष रूप से टिन्नू यादव की गिरफ्तारी के बाद राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ (आरएसएस) के कुछ पदाधिकारियों ने भी चिंता व्यक्त की है। उनका कहना है कि मंदिर और उसके प्रबंधन को लेकर जनता में जो विश्वास है, इस घटना से उस पर प्रतिकूल प्रभाव पड़ सकता है।
संघ के वरिष्ठ पदाधिकारियों का कहना है कि सार्वजनिक जीवन में पारदर्शिता, ईमानदारी और जवाबदेही सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता होनी चाहिए। एक अन्य पदाधिकारी ने इसे केवल कुछ व्यक्तियों की गलती नहीं, बल्कि पूरी दान प्रबंधन प्रणाली की कमजोरी बताया। उनके अनुसार, भविष्य में ऐसी घटनाओं को रोकने के लिए अधिक सुरक्षित, पारदर्शी और मजबूत व्यवस्था विकसित करने की आवश्यकता है।
