Ram Temple Donation Theft Case: Eight Accused Sent to 14-Day Judicial Custody, Probe Intensifies
A special court dealing with cases under the Prevention of Corruption Act on Monday remanded all eight accused in the alleged Ram Temple donation theft and embezzlement case to 14 days of judicial custody.
The accused were presented before the court through video conferencing from jail, as authorities chose not to transport them physically due to security concerns.
Those sent to judicial custody include Ram Shankar Yadav alias Tinnu, Lavkush Mishra, Anukalp Mishra, Ramashankar Mishra, Avinash Shukla, Manish Kumar Yadav, Karunesh Pandey and Subhash Srivastav.
Officials said the decision to produce them virtually was taken to avoid any security-related risks during their court appearance.
Speaking on the development, Ayodhya Circle Officer Ashutosh Tiwari said that the police have not yet approached the court seeking custodial interrogation of any of the accused.
Earlier, all eight were arrested on Friday and produced before a magistrate, who had ordered their three-day judicial custody.
As the investigation gathered pace, a police team headed by the investigating officer visited the concerned bank branch on Monday.
Officers interacted with employees responsible for receiving, counting, and depositing the donations offered at the Ram Temple.
During the visit, investigators collected complete digital transaction records linked to the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust’s bank account from the time it was opened to manage temple donations and other valuables.
Police have also instructed senior bank officials to ensure that all employees associated with the donation management process remain available in Ayodhya and cooperate fully with the investigation whenever they are summoned for questioning.
According to senior police officials, the first phase of the investigation is focused on uncovering the exact sequence of events behind the alleged embezzlement.
Investigators are trying to determine how the theft was executed, who first accessed the donation funds, and whether employees involved in cash counting, banking operations, security arrangements, or other related responsibilities played any role in siphoning off the money.
The investigating team has reportedly been directed to first secure the arrest of all suspects and recover as much of the allegedly stolen cash and valuables as possible.
Once that process is completed, authorities will begin a detailed examination of the assets believed to have been acquired using the misappropriated funds.
Officials have also been instructed to maintain meticulous records of the investigation, recoveries, and documentation, as the case could later be handed over to another state or central investigating agency.
On Sunday, police conducted searches at the residences of all eight accused. During the investigation, authorities recovered ₹79.8 lakh from seven of the arrested individuals. However, no cash or valuable items were recovered from Subhash Srivastav.
Meanwhile, the Ayodhya Bar Association announced on Monday that its members would not appear in court on behalf of any of the accused in the high-profile donation theft case.

राम मंदिर चंदा चोरी और गबन मामले में गिरफ्तार सभी आठ आरोपियों को सोमवार को भ्रष्टाचार निवारण अधिनियम (प्रिवेंशन ऑफ करप्शन एक्ट) की विशेष अदालत ने 14 दिन की न्यायिक हिरासत में भेज दिया। सुरक्षा कारणों को देखते हुए आरोपियों को जेल से वीडियो कॉन्फ्रेंसिंग के माध्यम से अदालत में पेश किया गया और उन्हें व्यक्तिगत रूप से कोर्ट नहीं लाया गया।
न्यायिक हिरासत में भेजे गए आरोपियों में राम शंकर यादव उर्फ टिन्नू, लवकुश मिश्रा, अनुकल्प मिश्रा, रामाशंकर मिश्रा, अविनाश शुक्ला, मनीष कुमार यादव, करुणेश पांडेय और सुभाष श्रीवास्तव शामिल हैं। अधिकारियों के अनुसार, सुरक्षा व्यवस्था को ध्यान में रखते हुए सभी की वर्चुअल पेशी कराई गई।
अयोध्या के क्षेत्राधिकारी (सीओ) आशुतोष तिवारी ने बताया कि फिलहाल पुलिस ने किसी भी आरोपी की पुलिस रिमांड की मांग करते हुए अदालत में कोई आवेदन दाखिल नहीं किया है। इससे पहले शुक्रवार को सभी आठ आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार कर मजिस्ट्रेट के समक्ष पेश किया गया था, जहां से उन्हें तीन दिन की न्यायिक हिरासत में भेजा गया था।
जांच को आगे बढ़ाते हुए सोमवार को विवेचक के नेतृत्व में पुलिस टीम संबंधित बैंक शाखा पहुंची। वहां अधिकारियों ने उन कर्मचारियों से पूछताछ की जो राम मंदिर में प्राप्त होने वाले दान की राशि को एकत्र करने, उसकी गिनती करने और बैंक में जमा कराने की प्रक्रिया से जुड़े हुए हैं। पुलिस ने श्री राम जन्मभूमि तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्ट के बैंक खाते से संबंधित सभी डिजिटल रिकॉर्ड भी अपने कब्जे में लिए। ये रिकॉर्ड खाते के खुलने के समय से लेकर अब तक के सभी वित्तीय लेन-देन से जुड़े हैं।
पुलिस ने बैंक के वरिष्ठ अधिकारियों को निर्देश दिया है कि दान प्रबंधन से जुड़े सभी कर्मचारी अयोध्या में ही उपलब्ध रहें और पूछताछ के लिए बुलाए जाने पर जांच एजेंसी के समक्ष उपस्थित हों।
वरिष्ठ पुलिस अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, जांच के शुरुआती चरण में पूरा ध्यान इस बात पर केंद्रित है कि कथित गबन की शुरुआत कैसे हुई, सबसे पहले दान की राशि तक किसने पहुंच बनाई और नकदी की गिनती, बैंकिंग व्यवस्था, सुरक्षा प्रबंधन या अन्य जिम्मेदारियों से जुड़े किन-किन लोगों की भूमिका इसमें रही।
सूत्रों के अनुसार, जांच टीम को पहले सभी आरोपियों की गिरफ्तारी सुनिश्चित करने और उनके पास से अधिक से अधिक नकदी व कीमती सामान बरामद करने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं। इसके बाद कथित गबन की रकम से बनाई गई संपत्तियों की विस्तृत जांच की जाएगी।
साथ ही अधिकारियों को केस से जुड़े दस्तावेज, बरामदगी और अन्य अभिलेख पूरी सावधानी से तैयार रखने के निर्देश दिए गए हैं, क्योंकि भविष्य में यह मामला किसी अन्य राज्य या केंद्रीय जांच एजेंसी को भी सौंपा जा सकता है।
रविवार को पुलिस ने सभी आठ आरोपियों के घरों पर तलाशी अभियान चलाया। जांच के दौरान सात आरोपियों के पास से 79.8 लाख रुपये नकद बरामद किए गए, जबकि सुभाष श्रीवास्तव के घर से कोई नकदी या कीमती सामान नहीं मिला।
इसी बीच अयोध्या बार एसोसिएशन ने सोमवार को घोषणा की कि संगठन का कोई भी अधिवक्ता इस चर्चित चंदा चोरी और गबन मामले में गिरफ्तार आरोपियों की ओर से अदालत में पैरवी नहीं करेगा।
