Prayagraj to Get 250-Bed Sports Hostel, Water Coolers Approved for Table Tennis Hall
Sports infrastructure in Prayagraj is set to receive a major boost, with approval granted for the construction of a three-storey sports hostel and dormitory at the George Town Stadium.
The proposed facility will have the capacity to accommodate 250 athletes. The decision was taken during a meeting of the District-Level Sports Development and Promotion Committee, chaired by the Divisional Commissioner.
The committee reviewed a series of proposals aimed at strengthening sports facilities and improving amenities for athletes across the district.
Several initiatives related to the expansion of sports infrastructure and better training arrangements received the committee’s approval.
Among the key decisions was the installation of water coolers for players, coaches, and officials at the Amitabh Bachchan Sports Complex (Mayo Hall), where lawn tennis and basketball courts are located.
The move is expected to improve basic facilities for sportspersons using the venue.
Approval was also granted for projects associated with the Madan Mohan Malaviya Stadium, including the development of practice areas, team roads, sports hostels, changing rooms, and boundary walls.
The committee also sanctioned proposals to upgrade power supply, install water coolers, and improve other essential public amenities based on priority requirements.
In addition, the meeting cleared plans for installing solar lighting and enhancing water-related sports infrastructure at the George Town Stadium. Various other proposals concerning essential equipment and the overall development of sports facilities also received the committee’s nod.

प्रयागराज के जॉर्जटाउन स्टेडियम में खिलाड़ियों के लिए 250 क्षमता वाले तीन मंजिला स्पोर्ट्स हॉस्टल एवं डॉर्मेट्री के निर्माण को मंजूरी दे दी गई है। यह निर्णय मंडलायुक्त की अध्यक्षता में आयोजित जिला स्तरीय खेल विकास एवं प्रोत्साहन समिति की बैठक में लिया गया।
बैठक के दौरान जिले में खेल सुविधाओं को बेहतर बनाने और खिलाड़ियों के लिए आधुनिक संसाधन उपलब्ध कराने से जुड़े कई प्रस्तावों पर विचार किया गया। खेल अधोसंरचना के विस्तार और प्रशिक्षण व्यवस्था को मजबूत करने वाले अनेक प्रस्तावों को समिति ने स्वीकृति प्रदान की।
बैठक में अमिताभ बच्चन स्पोर्ट्स कॉम्प्लेक्स (मेयो हॉल) स्थित लॉन टेनिस और बास्केटबॉल कोर्ट परिसर में खिलाड़ियों, प्रशिक्षकों और खेल अधिकारियों की सुविधा के लिए वाटर कूलर लगाए जाने का भी निर्णय लिया गया। इससे खिलाड़ियों को बेहतर मूलभूत सुविधाएं उपलब्ध होंगी।
इसके अलावा मदन मोहन मालवीय स्टेडियम से जुड़े कई विकास कार्यों को भी मंजूरी मिली। इनमें अभ्यास स्थल, टीम रोड, खेल छात्रावास, चेंजिंग रूम, बाउंड्री वॉल, विद्युत व्यवस्था, वाटर कूलर तथा अन्य आवश्यक नागरिक सुविधाओं के विकास से जुड़े प्रस्ताव प्राथमिकता के आधार पर स्वीकृत किए गए।
समिति ने जॉर्जटाउन स्टेडियम में सोलर लाइट, जलक्रीड़ा से संबंधित आवश्यक सुविधाओं के उन्नयन, खेल उपकरणों की उपलब्धता तथा अन्य बुनियादी खेल अधोसंरचना के विकास से जुड़े प्रस्तावों पर भी अपनी मुहर लगा दी।
