Ram Temple Trust Appoints Krishna Mohan as Interim General Secretary After Champat Rai’s Exit Amid Donation Row
The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust has named Krishna Mohan, a resident of Hardoi, as its interim General Secretary, marking a major organisational reshuffle in the wake of the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged misappropriation of temple donations.
The decision was announced on Monday after the Trust formally accepted the resignation of long-serving General Secretary Champat Rai.
Trust Treasurer Govind Dev Giri said Krishna Mohan has been entrusted with the additional responsibility of leading the organisation on an interim basis until a permanent General Secretary is appointed.
He added that the arrangement is intended to ensure administrative continuity while the Trust undertakes structural reforms and reviews its internal systems.
The leadership change comes amid the ongoing investigation into alleged irregularities during the counting of donations at the Ram Temple.
Along with Champat Rai’s resignation, the Trust also accepted the resignation of trustee Anil Mishra, stating that both resignations were processed in accordance with the provisions of the Trust’s constitution.
Krishna Mohan brings decades of administrative experience to his new role. A graduate of Lucknow University, he began his career in the Department of Atomic Energy before joining the Indian Forest Service (IFS).
He retired from the Maharashtra cadre after serving in several senior positions.
According to the Trust, he is presently engaged in various social welfare initiatives in his native district of Hardoi.
Soon after assuming the responsibility, Krishna Mohan said his immediate priority would be to strengthen the Trust’s administrative framework and address the shortcomings that allegedly allowed the recent controversy to emerge.
He stressed the need to improve institutional safeguards so that similar incidents are prevented in the future.
Speaking to reporters, Krishna Mohan acknowledged that certain weaknesses existed within the existing system and said those loopholes had been exploited by some individuals.
He stated that his foremost objective would be to identify those deficiencies, close every gap in the administrative mechanism, and rectify procedural lapses that may have contributed to the alleged irregularities.
He further said that he had been assigned the duties of General Secretary in an acting capacity until a regular appointment is made.
Referring to the ongoing investigation, Krishna Mohan asserted that anyone found guilty should face appropriate legal consequences.
He added that everyone associated with the Trust, including millions of devotees of Lord Ram, had been deeply hurt by the developments and that justice must be allowed to take its course.
Expressing his commitment to rebuilding confidence, Krishna Mohan said every possible effort would be made to ensure that such incidents are never repeated.
He admitted that the recent controversy had affected the Trust’s public image and created a sense of mistrust among sections of society.
According to him, restoring transparency, strengthening accountability,y and rebuilding public faith would remain among his highest priorities.
Sharing the outcome of the Trust meeting, Treasurer Govind Dev Giri said the members were deeply saddened by the circumstances that had unfolded.
While accepting the resignations of Champat Rai and Anil Mishra, he said the Trust was pained not only by the allegations but also by the fact that an atmosphere had developed in which such questions could arise.
Giri said the seriousness of the situation prompted the Trust to convene its meeting ahead of schedule.
He noted that the members gathered in an atmosphere of introspection and concern, recognising their responsibility to respond decisively and take corrective measures to protect the credibility of the institution.

अयोध्या स्थित श्रीराम जन्मभूमि तीर्थ क्षेत्र ट्रस्ट ने चढ़ावे में कथित अनियमितताओं को लेकर जारी विवाद के बीच बड़ा संगठनात्मक बदलाव करते हुए हरदोई निवासी कृष्ण मोहन को अंतरिम महासचिव नियुक्त किया है।
यह निर्णय सोमवार को उस समय लिया गया, जब ट्रस्ट ने लंबे समय से महासचिव रहे चंपत राय का इस्तीफा औपचारिक रूप से स्वीकार कर लिया।
ट्रस्ट के कोषाध्यक्ष गोविंद देव गिरि ने बताया कि स्थायी महासचिव की नियुक्ति होने तक कृष्ण मोहन अतिरिक्त जिम्मेदारी के रूप में अंतरिम महासचिव का दायित्व संभालेंगे।
उनके अनुसार, इस व्यवस्था का उद्देश्य प्रशासनिक कार्यों की निरंतरता बनाए रखना और संगठनात्मक सुधारों की प्रक्रिया को प्रभावी ढंग से आगे बढ़ाना है।
राम मंदिर में चढ़ावे की गिनती के दौरान कथित गड़बड़ियों की जांच के बीच यह नेतृत्व परिवर्तन किया गया है। ट्रस्ट ने चंपत राय के साथ-साथ ट्रस्टी अनिल मिश्रा का इस्तीफा भी स्वीकार कर लिया है।
ट्रस्ट का कहना है कि दोनों इस्तीफे उसके संविधान में निर्धारित प्रावधानों के अनुरूप स्वीकार किए गए हैं।
कृष्ण मोहन का प्रशासनिक अनुभव काफी लंबा और व्यापक रहा है। लखनऊ विश्वविद्यालय से स्नातक करने के बाद उन्होंने परमाणु ऊर्जा विभाग में सेवाएं दीं और बाद में भारतीय वन सेवा (आईएफएस) में शामिल हुए।
महाराष्ट्र कैडर में कई महत्वपूर्ण पदों पर कार्य करने के बाद वे सेवानिवृत्त हुए। ट्रस्ट के अनुसार, वर्तमान में वह हरदोई में विभिन्न सामाजिक सेवा गतिविधियों से जुड़े हुए हैं।
नई जिम्मेदारी संभालने के बाद कृष्ण मोहन ने कहा कि उनकी पहली प्राथमिकता ट्रस्ट की आंतरिक प्रशासनिक व्यवस्था को और मजबूत बनाना होगी।
उन्होंने कहा कि हाल की घटनाओं से जो कमियां सामने आई हैं, उन्हें दूर करना और भविष्य में ऐसी परिस्थितियों की पुनरावृत्ति रोकना उनकी प्रमुख जिम्मेदारी होगी।
उन्होंने स्वीकार किया कि मौजूदा व्यवस्था में कुछ ऐसी कमजोरियां थीं, जिनका कुछ लोगों ने कथित रूप से फायदा उठाया।
कृष्ण मोहन ने कहा कि उनका मुख्य प्रयास इन खामियों की पहचान कर उन्हें पूरी तरह समाप्त करना, प्रक्रियागत त्रुटियों को सुधारना और ऐसी मजबूत व्यवस्था विकसित करना होगा, जिससे भविष्य में किसी भी प्रकार की अनियमितता की गुंजाइश न रहे।
मीडिया से बातचीत में उन्होंने कहा कि उन्हें स्थायी महासचिव की नियुक्ति तक कार्यवाहक महासचिव के रूप में जिम्मेदारी सौंपी गई है।
उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि जांच में जो भी व्यक्ति दोषी पाया जाएगा, उसके खिलाफ कानून के अनुसार कड़ी कार्रवाई सुनिश्चित करने की मांग ट्रस्ट पूरी दृढ़ता के साथ करेगा।
उन्होंने कहा कि इस पूरे घटनाक्रम से केवल ट्रस्ट ही नहीं, बल्कि भगवान राम के करोड़ों श्रद्धालु भी आहत हुए हैं।
कृष्ण मोहन ने भरोसा दिलाया कि ट्रस्ट की साख को दोबारा मजबूत करने के लिए हर आवश्यक कदम उठाया जाएगा। उन्होंने माना कि हालिया विवाद से संस्था की छवि प्रभावित हुई है और समाज के एक वर्ग में अविश्वास की भावना पैदा हुई है।
उनके अनुसार, पारदर्शिता बढ़ाना, जवाबदेही सुनिश्चित करना और श्रद्धालुओं का विश्वास फिर से स्थापित करना आने वाले समय में उनकी सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकताओं में शामिल रहेगा।
ट्रस्ट की बैठक के निष्कर्ष साझा करते हुए कोषाध्यक्ष गोविंद देव गिरि ने कहा कि सभी सदस्य इस पूरे घटनाक्रम से अत्यंत दुखी और व्यथित हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि चंपत राय और अनिल मिश्रा के इस्तीफे स्वीकार करना परिस्थितियों की मांग थी, लेकिन उससे भी अधिक पीड़ा इस बात की है कि ऐसा माहौल बनने दिया गया, जिससे इस प्रकार के आरोप सामने आए।
गोविंद देव गिरि ने बताया कि स्थिति की गंभीरता को देखते हुए ट्रस्ट ने निर्धारित तिथि से पहले ही बैठक बुलाने का निर्णय लिया।
उन्होंने कहा कि सभी सदस्य आत्ममंथन और गहरी चिंता की भावना के साथ एकत्र हुए ताकि पूरे मामले की समीक्षा कर आवश्यक सुधारात्मक कदम उठाए जा सकें और ट्रस्ट की विश्वसनीयता को और अधिक मजबूत बनाया जा सके।
