Residents of Prayagraj’s Handia Ward Fear Monsoon Misery as Drains Remain Uncleaned
Prayagraj: Choked drains in the Handia ward have become a major source of concern for residents, who fear that the approaching monsoon will once again bring flooding and severe inconvenience to the area.
According to residents, drains in the locality overflow during heavy rain almost every year, causing waterlogging and disrupting daily life.
Despite the onset of the monsoon season being imminent, residents say that no significant cleaning of drains and sewers has been carried out so far.
The lack of preparedness has heightened anxiety among people, who worry that the situation could worsen once the rains begin.
Locals also raised concerns about the deteriorating condition of neighbourhood parks.
They alleged that several parks have been encroached upon illegally. Parks that once had exercise equipment worth lakhs of rupees installed for public use are now reportedly littered with sand, timber and other construction materials.
Speaking to Hindustan, residents expressed disappointment with the functioning of the municipal authorities.
They said the monsoon is almost here, yet basic maintenance work, including the cleaning of drains and sewer lines, remains incomplete.
Residents warned that if immediate corrective measures are not taken, they will once again have to bear the consequences of administrative apathy.
They urged the authorities to act swiftly and complete the necessary cleaning and maintenance work before the rainy season intensifies.
नालों की सफाई अधूरी, मानसून से पहले हंडिया वार्ड के लोग परेशान; जलभराव की आशंका बढ़ी
प्रयागराज: हंडिया वार्ड के जाम पड़े नाले स्थानीय लोगों के लिए चिंता का बड़ा कारण बन गए हैं। क्षेत्र के निवासियों को आशंका है कि आने वाले मानसून में एक बार फिर जलभराव और भारी परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ेगा। लोगों का कहना है कि हर वर्ष बारिश के दौरान नाले उफान पर आ जाते हैं, जिससे सड़कों और मोहल्लों में पानी भर जाता है और जनजीवन प्रभावित होता है।
स्थानीय लोगों के अनुसार, मानसून लगभग दस्तक दे चुका है, लेकिन अब तक नालों और नालियों की समुचित सफाई नहीं कराई गई है। प्रशासन की तैयारियों में कमी को लेकर लोगों की चिंता लगातार बढ़ रही है और उन्हें डर है कि बारिश शुरू होते ही हालात और बिगड़ सकते हैं।
निवासियों ने क्षेत्र के पार्कों की बदहाल स्थिति पर भी नाराजगी जताई। उनका आरोप है कि कई पार्कों पर अवैध कब्जा हो चुका है। जिन पार्कों में कभी लाखों रुपये की लागत से व्यायाम उपकरण लगाए गए थे, वहां आज रेत, लकड़ी और अन्य निर्माण सामग्री का ढेर लगा हुआ है।
हिन्दुस्तान से बातचीत में स्थानीय लोगों ने नगर निगम की कार्यप्रणाली पर निराशा व्यक्त की। उनका कहना है कि मानसून सिर पर है, लेकिन नालों और नालियों की सफाई जैसे बुनियादी कार्य अभी तक पूरे नहीं किए गए हैं।
लोगों ने चेतावनी दी कि यदि समय रहते आवश्यक कदम नहीं उठाए गए, तो बारिश शुरू होने के बाद उन्हें एक बार फिर प्रशासनिक उदासीनता का खामियाजा भुगतना पड़ेगा। उन्होंने संबंधित अधिकारियों से तत्काल कार्रवाई कर मानसून से पहले सफाई और रखरखाव का काम पूरा कराने की मांग की है।
