The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to Rafique Ansari, a Samajwadi Party MLA in a criminal case pending against him at the police station – Nauchandi of Meerut district and now trial of the same is pending before the court of chief judicial magistrate (MP/MLA), Meerut.
The case of registered following an incident of thrashing among the meat businessmen.
Allowing the bail application of Rafiq Ansari, Justice Rajeev Mishra said that the bail is granted after hearing both sides, upon perusal of material brought on record, and without expressing any opinion on the merit of the case.
Earlier, at one stage, this court had directed the director general of police to ensure the arrest of Rafique Ansari, who had been absconding despite the issuance of several bailable warrants against him. Following this order, the police arrested Rafique from Barabanki on May 27, 2024.
