SEO Headline: Ahead of BRICS NSA Meeting, Ajit Doval Meets Iran’s Deputy NSA in Delhi Amid US-Iran Peace Talks
Ahead of the BRICS National Security Advisers (NSA) meeting scheduled for Tuesday, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval held discussions with Iran’s Deputy National Security Adviser Ghadir Nezamipour in New Delhi, as diplomatic efforts continue in Switzerland to end the conflict in West Asia.
Nezamipour, who serves as the Deputy Secretary for Defence Affairs at Iran’s influential Supreme National Security Council (SNSC), arrived in India to participate in the gathering of national security advisers from BRICS member countries.
According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, the two leaders reviewed the evolving situation in West Asia and exchanged views on strengthening cooperation under the BRICS framework as well as advancing bilateral relations between India and Iran.
The visit assumes significance as it is the first trip to India by a senior Iranian official since Tehran reached a peace understanding with the United States.
Last month, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi had visited India to attend the BRICS Foreign Ministers’ Meeting amid the ongoing ceasefire and negotiations between Washington and Tehran.
Separately, Doval also met Million Lema Tadesse, Executive Director of Analysis at Ethiopia’s National Intelligence and Security Service.
The discussions focused on identifying new avenues for cooperation to deepen and expand the India-Ethiopia Strategic Partnership, the MEA said.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and Russian National Security Adviser Sergei Shoigu will also attend the upcoming BRICS NSAs’ meeting.
The deliberations are expected to lay the groundwork for the BRICS Leaders’ Summit, which India is set to host in September.
India currently holds the rotating presidency of the BRICS grouping. The expanded bloc now comprises Brazil, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iran, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the United Arab Emirates.
According to the MEA, the National Security Advisers and heads of delegation from BRICS nations will deliberate on the theme, “Non-Traditional Security Challenges Confronting the World Today.”
The discussions will focus on the rapidly changing nature of global security threats and the growing role of emerging technologies in shaping new security challenges.
The participating nations will also review the outcomes of the recently concluded BRICS Joint Working Group meetings on counter-terrorism and security issues related to the use of information and communication technologies, reflecting the bloc’s increasing emphasis on collective responses to emerging global threats.

मंगलवार को होने वाली ब्रिक्स (BRICS) देशों के राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकारों (NSA) की बैठक से पहले भारत के राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार अजित डोभाल ने नई दिल्ली में ईरान के उप राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार गदीर नेजामीपोर से मुलाकात की। यह बैठक ऐसे समय में हुई है जब पश्चिम एशिया में जारी तनाव को समाप्त करने के लिए अमेरिका और ईरान के बीच स्विट्जरलैंड में बातचीत चल रही है।
गदीर नेजामीपोर ईरान की प्रभावशाली सुप्रीम नेशनल सिक्योरिटी काउंसिल (SNSC) में रक्षा मामलों के उप सचिव हैं और ब्रिक्स देशों के राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकारों की बैठक में भाग लेने के लिए भारत आए हैं।
विदेश मंत्रालय के प्रवक्ता रणधीर जायसवाल ने बताया कि दोनों नेताओं ने पश्चिम एशिया की मौजूदा स्थिति की समीक्षा की और ब्रिक्स मंच के तहत सहयोग बढ़ाने के साथ-साथ भारत-ईरान द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को और मजबूत करने पर चर्चा की।
यह यात्रा इसलिए भी महत्वपूर्ण मानी जा रही है क्योंकि अमेरिका के साथ शांति समझौते के बाद किसी वरिष्ठ ईरानी अधिकारी की यह पहली भारत यात्रा है। पिछले महीने ईरान के विदेश मंत्री सैयद अब्बास अराघची भी भारत आए थे और उन्होंने ब्रिक्स विदेश मंत्रियों की बैठक में हिस्सा लिया था। उस समय अमेरिका और ईरान के बीच युद्धविराम तथा वार्ता की प्रक्रिया जारी थी।
अजित डोभाल ने इथियोपिया की नेशनल इंटेलिजेंस एंड सिक्योरिटी सर्विस के कार्यकारी निदेशक (विश्लेषण) मिलियन लेमा तादेसे से भी मुलाकात की। विदेश मंत्रालय के अनुसार, दोनों पक्षों ने भारत-इथियोपिया रणनीतिक साझेदारी को और मजबूत एवं व्यापक बनाने के लिए सहयोग के नए क्षेत्रों पर विचार-विमर्श किया।
ब्रिक्स राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकारों की बैठक में चीन के विदेश मंत्री वांग यी और रूस के राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार सर्गेई शोइगु भी हिस्सा लेंगे। इस बैठक को सितंबर में भारत में होने वाले ब्रिक्स नेताओं के शिखर सम्मेलन की तैयारियों के लिहाज से महत्वपूर्ण माना जा रहा है।
इस वर्ष भारत ब्रिक्स समूह की घूर्णन अध्यक्षता संभाल रहा है। विस्तारित ब्रिक्स समूह में अब ब्राजील, चीन, मिस्र, इथियोपिया, भारत, इंडोनेशिया, ईरान, रूस, सऊदी अरब, दक्षिण अफ्रीका और संयुक्त अरब अमीरात शामिल हैं।
विदेश मंत्रालय के अनुसार, ब्रिक्स देशों के राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार और प्रतिनिधिमंडलों के प्रमुख “आज की दुनिया के सामने मौजूद गैर-पारंपरिक सुरक्षा चुनौतियां” विषय पर विचार-विमर्श करेंगे। बैठक में तेजी से बदलती वैश्विक सुरक्षा चुनौतियों और उभरती प्रौद्योगिकियों की भूमिका पर विशेष चर्चा होगी।
इसके अलावा, हाल ही में आयोजित ब्रिक्स संयुक्त कार्य समूहों की बैठकों में आतंकवाद-रोधी सहयोग तथा सूचना एवं संचार प्रौद्योगिकी के सुरक्षित उपयोग से जुड़े मुद्दों पर हुई प्रगति की भी समीक्षा की जाएगी। यह वैश्विक सुरक्षा खतरों से निपटने के लिए ब्रिक्स देशों के बीच बढ़ते सहयोग और समन्वय को रेखांकित करता है।
