Shreya Ghoshal Pays Emotional Tribute to Legendary Asha Bhosle Ji During London Concert

The music world is mourning the loss of legendary singer Asha Bhosle ji, who passed away on April 12 at the age of 92 due to multiple organ failure.

Her demise marked the end of an era, leaving millions of admirers, artists, and music lovers heartbroken across generations.

Renowned playback singer Shreya Ghoshal, who is currently captivating audiences across the globe with her Unstoppable World Tour, paid a deeply moving tribute to the iconic singer during her concert at The O2 Arena in London.

In a heartfelt moment that left fans emotional, Shreya dedicated a special musical segment to honour Asha ji’s timeless legacy.

As rare photographs of Asha Bhosle ji illuminated the giant screens behind her, Shreya performed some of the legend’s most beloved classics, including “Abhi Na Jao Chhod Kar” and “Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani.”

The atmosphere at the arena turned nostalgic as thousands of fans joined in, singing along, cheering, and applauding the unforgettable tribute.

The emotional performance quickly went viral online, with fans praising Shreya for beautifully capturing the essence of the legendary singer’s voice and style.

Social media was flooded with admiration for the tribute. Fans expressed that Shreya is among the rare voices capable of doing justice to the musical legacy of both Lata Mangeshkar ji and Asha Bhosle ji.

Many listeners even requested that Shreya release an unplugged version of the tribute songs on music streaming platforms, calling the performance “soul-stirring” and “timeless.”

Earlier, Shreya Ghoshal had also shared a heartfelt note on Instagram remembering the legendary artist. Posting a cherished photograph with Asha ji, she wrote:

“Today, we lost a voice that shaped generations… a spirit that transformed music itself. Asha Bhosle ji was not only a legend, but she was boundless.

I grew up listening to her, learning from her, and being mesmerised by her effortless versatility — the way she could breathe life into every note and make every emotion feel intimate.”

She further reflected on the extraordinary range of Asha ji’s musical genius, from playful melodies to deeply moving ghazals, and her unmatched mastery across multiple languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, and many more.

Shreya expressed deep gratitude for having witnessed the greatness of Asha Bhosle ji in her lifetime, adding:

“For so many of us, she wasn’t just an inspiration… she was a part of our musical soul. Her voice will echo through time, through every artist she inspired, through every heart she touched. Rest in music, Asha tai. Your legacy will never fade.”

Asha Bhosle ji had reportedly been unwell for some time and was admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital after experiencing cardiac and respiratory complications.

Following the news of her passing, several prominent personalities from the film and music industry, including Shah Rukh Khan, Akshay Kumar, and Kajol, paid tribute to the legendary singer, remembering her immense contribution to Indian music spanning over seven decades.

Her voice, artistry, and timeless songs will continue to inspire generations to come, ensuring that her legacy remains eternal in the world of music.
