Kathmandu, September 2: Bollywood actor and philanthropist Sonu Sood has travelled to Nepal to support communities devastated by the country’s recent floods, arriving with relief supplies and a commitment to remain involved beyond the immediate emergency.
Sood reached Kathmandu with his Sood Charity Foundation team as rescue and recovery operations continued across several badly affected districts.
His visit comes at a time when families are still searching for missing relatives and thousands of people are struggling to rebuild after losing homes, livelihoods and loved ones.
The actor shared photographs from Nepal on social media and said his objective was not simply to provide short-term assistance but to help affected families move towards rebuilding their lives.
His message conveyed solidarity with people who have lost homes and family members in the catastrophe.
Speaking to ANI, Sood said his team had brought essential materials from India and was meeting affected people to understand their immediate requirements.
The relief effort currently includes blankets and food supplies, while additional materials are being arranged according to needs identified on the ground.
Sood also acknowledged that transporting relief material across the India-Nepal border can involve logistical difficulties.
Nevertheless, he said his foundation intends to maintain assistance in the months ahead rather than restricting its intervention to the immediate aftermath of the disaster.
From Immediate Relief to Rebuilding Lives
The actor’s approach places emphasis on the recovery phase as well as emergency aid.
With large numbers of people affected, relief requirements are expected to continue even after rescue teams complete their immediate operations.
Sood has previously attracted widespread attention for his humanitarian initiatives during crises in India, and his decision to personally travel to Nepal has once again brought his charitable work into the spotlight.

Nepal Faces a Massive Humanitarian Crisis
The scale of the disaster has made the rescue operation an enormous challenge.
According to the latest figures cited from Nepal’s National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority (NDRRMA), 939 people had died, and 3,925 remained missing, including 592 foreign nationals.
Rescue and search operations have continued in districts including Rasuwa and Nuwakot.
Thousands of security personnel and specialist teams have been mobilised for search and rescue operations.
Radio Nepal reported that more than 11,000 people had been rescued, while thousands of personnel from the Nepal Army, Armed Police Force and Nepal Police were engaged in operations across affected areas.
The disaster has also created a difficult task for authorities in identifying victims.
The Indian Embassy in Nepal has issued information concerning procedures for identification of the mortal remains of Indian citizens who died in the floods.
Bollywood Voices Support for Nepal
Sood is not the only Indian film personality to have expressed concern over the catastrophe.
Actress Manisha Koirala, who has strong personal and cultural ties to Nepal, has appealed for international assistance for the flood-hit country.
Sunita Ahuja, wife of actor Govinda, has also urged the Indian film industry to extend support to the victims, describing Nepal as her Matrabhoomi and calling for solidarity with those facing the aftermath of the disaster.
The appeals from celebrities have added visibility to an unfolding humanitarian emergency in Nepal, even as rescue teams continue searching for missing people and relief organisations work to provide essential supplies.
For Sood and his foundation, however, the stated goal extends beyond bringing immediate necessities to flood-hit communities.
The actor has indicated that assistance will continue in the coming months, with the focus gradually shifting from emergency relief towards helping survivors regain stability and rebuild their lives.

अपनी सूद चैरिटी फाउंडेशन की टीम के साथ काठमांडू पहुंचे अभिनेता ने बाढ़ पीड़ित परिवारों से मुलाकात की और राहत कार्यों में सहयोग शुरू किया।
26 अगस्त को आई भीषण बाढ़ के बाद नेपाल के कई हिस्सों में भारी तबाही हुई है।
बड़ी संख्या में लोगों की जान गई है, हजारों लोग अब भी लापता हैं और अनेक परिवारों के सामने घर, रोजगार तथा अपने प्रियजनों को खोने के बाद जिंदगी को दोबारा पटरी पर लाने की चुनौती है।
ऐसे समय में सोनू सूद का प्रभावित लोगों के बीच पहुंचना राहत प्रयासों को मानवीय चेहरा देता है।
भारत से लेकर गए भोजन और कंबल, जरूरत के अनुसार जुटाई जा रही और मदद
ANI से बातचीत में सोनू सूद ने बताया कि उनकी टीम भारत से आवश्यक राहत सामग्री लेकर नेपाल पहुंची है।
इसमें कंबल और खाद्य सामग्री शामिल हैं।
टीम प्रभावित इलाकों में लोगों से बातचीत कर यह समझने का प्रयास कर रही है कि उन्हें तत्काल किन चीजों की सबसे ज्यादा आवश्यकता है।
सोनू सूद ने यह भी बताया कि भारत से नेपाल तक राहत सामग्री पहुंचाने में कई तरह की व्यवस्थागत चुनौतियां आती हैं और इसके लिए बड़ी संख्या में लोगों के समन्वय की जरूरत पड़ती है।
इसके बावजूद उन्होंने स्पष्ट किया कि मदद को केवल मौजूदा संकट तक सीमित नहीं रखा जाएगा।
उनके अनुसार, राहत सामग्री और सहायता आने वाले महीनों में भी जारी रखने की योजना है, ताकि प्रभावित परिवारों को आपदा के शुरुआती दौर के बाद भी सहारा मिल सके।
राहत से आगे पुनर्वास की ओर सोनू सूद का जोर
नेपाल में सोनू सूद की पहल का एक महत्वपूर्ण पहलू यह है कि इसमें तत्काल राहत के साथ-साथ भविष्य के पुनर्निर्माण की जरूरत पर भी ध्यान दिया जा रहा है।

आपदा के बाद मृतकों की पहचान करना भी प्रशासन के लिए बड़ी चुनौती बना हुआ है।
नेपाल स्थित भारतीय दूतावास ने बाढ़ में जान गंवाने वाले भारतीय नागरिकों के शवों की पहचान से संबंधित प्रक्रिया की जानकारी भी साझा की है।
मनिषा कोइराला समेत कई हस्तियों ने नेपाल की मदद की अपील
सोनू सूद के अलावा फिल्म जगत की अन्य हस्तियों ने भी नेपाल की त्रासदी पर चिंता व्यक्त की है।
नेपाल से गहरे संबंध रखने वाली अभिनेत्री मनीषा कोइराला ने अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुदाय से संकट की इस घड़ी में नेपाल की मदद के लिए आगे आने की अपील की है।
अभिनेता गोविंदा की पत्नी सुनीता आहूजा ने भी नेपाल के बाढ़ पीड़ितों के लिए सहायता की अपील करते हुए देश के प्रति अपने भावनात्मक जुड़ाव का उल्लेख किया और बॉलीवुड से मदद के लिए आगे आने का आग्रह किया।
इन अपीलों ने नेपाल में जारी मानवीय संकट की ओर व्यापक ध्यान आकर्षित किया है। हालांकि, जमीन पर चुनौती अभी भी बहुत बड़ी है।
कई परिवार अपने लापता परिजनों की तलाश में हैं और राहत दल दूर-दराज के प्रभावित इलाकों तक पहुंचने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं।
