Supreme court refuses to entertain petition related to election during poll process: Matter to be listed after polls.
The supreme court of India has refused to direct election commission to upload data regarding number of voter turning up at booths within 48 hours of completion of ongoing elections.
Refusing to do so, the court has said, elections were going on and it would not be proper to intervene in the matter under such circumstances.
This situation arose following application filed by Association for democratic reforms.
The bench headed by Justice Dipankar Dutta and Justice Satish Chandra Misra said, the relief sought in this petition was identical to a pending petition filed in 2019. If relief is given in the matter it would mean granting final relief.
The bench said, the matter will be listed when court reopens after summer vacation.
The bench also observed, we are also responsible citizens and we should trust an authority.
Following reopening of the court the matter will be listed before appropriate bench.
