Trump Issues Fresh Warning to Iran as US-Iran Military Escalation Deepens Amid Nuclear Dispute
Tensions between the United States and Iran intensified further on Wednesday after US President Donald Trump delivered a stern warning to Tehran, signalling the possibility of additional American military action.
Trump stated that the United States was prepared to strike Iran again if necessary and urged Iranian leaders to agree to a deal that could bring the escalating confrontation to an end.
Speaking amid growing hostilities, Trump said America would “again hit them very hard today” and emphasised that Washington was seeking an agreement that was both effective and meaningful.
His remarks came at a time when diplomatic efforts between the two countries remain fragile and increasingly overshadowed by military developments across the region.
Adding to the pressure on Tehran, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog, approved a US-supported resolution during a meeting of its 35-member Board of Governors on Wednesday.
The resolution calls on Iran to fully disclose its remaining stockpiles of enriched uranium and permit international inspectors to verify those materials.
The move is expected to place additional strain on already complicated negotiations between Washington and Tehran over Iran’s nuclear programme.
Analysts believe the resolution could make diplomatic engagement more challenging at a moment when both sides are already locked in a dangerous cycle of military retaliation and political confrontation.
Earlier, Trump had claimed that Iran’s military capabilities had suffered significant damage. In a post shared on Truth Social on Friday, the US President asserted that major components of Iran’s defence infrastructure, including elements of its navy and air force, had been “completely defeated.”
He also accused Iran of delaying negotiations for too long and warned that the country would now have to face the consequences of its decisions.
The latest exchange followed a dramatic escalation in military operations across the Gulf region.
According to Iranian officials, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps launched strikes on American military installations in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan during the early hours of Wednesday.
Iran claimed that 21 US-linked targets were struck during the operation and that four of them were destroyed.
The Iranian attacks came after the United States reportedly carried out airstrikes against Iranian air-defence systems, command-and-control facilities and surveillance radar installations near the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
The US operation followed the reported downing of an American Army Apache helicopter near the waterway on Tuesday.
Iran also announced that its forces had shot down a US MQ-9 drone over the city of Jam and issued a warning that any further American military action would trigger what it described as a “crushing and decisive” response.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi reinforced that message in a statement posted on social media platform X.
He declared that Iran’s armed forces would not leave any attack or threat unanswered and signalled that Tehran was prepared to respond forcefully to future military pressure.
Meanwhile, President Trump confirmed on Truth Social that the Apache helicopter brought down by Iran was a highly advanced aircraft.
He argued that the United States had little choice but to respond militarily following the incident.
Trump also revealed that both American pilots aboard the helicopter were successfully rescued.
According to the President, the operation was carried out by a Saronic Technologies Corsair drone boat, marking what is believed to be the first publicly known instance of the US military using an unmanned surface vessel to recover personnel during an active conflict.
The rescue mission was reportedly conducted under the supervision of the US Navy’s Task Force 59, highlighting the growing role of autonomous and artificial intelligence-driven technologies in modern warfare.
As military exchanges intensify and diplomatic channels come under increasing strain, fears are mounting that the confrontation between Washington and Tehran could evolve into a broader regional conflict.
With both sides adopting increasingly hardline positions, the prospects for de-escalation remain uncertain, while the international community watches developments with growing concern.
