UP Assembly Launches Podcast Studio to Connect Legislators with Youth and Bring Lawmaking Closer to the Public
Lucknow: In a major digital outreach initiative, the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly has established its own podcast studio, creating a new platform through which Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) will be able to engage directly with the public on issues ranging from lawmaking and governance to their personal journeys in public life.
The facility was inaugurated on Sunday by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Describing the objective behind the initiative, Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana said the platform is intended to extend legislative discussions beyond the walls of the House and strengthen communication with citizens, particularly the younger generation that primarily consumes information through digital media.
Mahana observed that legislative work rarely receives the public attention it deserves despite its direct impact on people’s lives.
He said the new podcast series would provide elected representatives an opportunity to explain the purpose of the laws they enact, the issues they raise inside the Assembly and the responsibilities they discharge on behalf of the people.
Sources in the Assembly said the project has been designed to make the functioning of the legislature more understandable and accessible for young audiences, especially members of Generation Z, who increasingly rely on online platforms for news and information.
The Speaker announced that the inaugural episode of the podcast will feature Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. According to him, the first recording is likely to take place within the next two or three days.
Apart from discussions on legislation and governance, the platform will also allow legislators to present the human side of their public lives.
MLAs belonging to different professional backgrounds, including engineering, medicine, business and other fields, will be able to share their personal experiences and explain what motivated them to enter public service.
The newly created podcast studio was one of several facilities formally opened at the Vidhan Bhavan on Sunday, just a day before the commencement of the Monsoon Session of the Uttar Pradesh Legislature.
During the event, Chief Minister Adityanath also inaugurated the digital library of the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council, dedicated beautification works in the Council chamber and unveiled the renovated ground-floor corridor of the Vidhan Bhavan.
The Chief Minister later inspected the podcast facility and reviewed preparations for the upcoming Monsoon Session.
He also visited a helicopter-shaped exhibition installed inside the Assembly complex, which highlights Uttar Pradesh’s historical legacy, religious traditions and major tourist destinations.
Speaker Mahana also announced a special programme to commemorate 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram.
He said all six stanzas of the song would be incorporated into the commemorative initiative.
Officials associated with the project said the launch of the podcast studio, together with the digital library and other modern facilities, forms part of a larger effort to modernise the functioning of the Legislature, improve transparency and encourage greater public participation in the democratic process.

लखनऊ: उत्तर प्रदेश विधानसभा ने जनप्रतिनिधियों और आम नागरिकों के बीच संवाद को नई दिशा देने की पहल करते हुए अपना अत्याधुनिक पॉडकास्ट स्टूडियो स्थापित किया है।
इस मंच के माध्यम से विधायक अब कानून निर्माण, जनहित के मुद्दों, शासन व्यवस्था और अपने सार्वजनिक जीवन के अनुभवों पर सीधे लोगों से संवाद कर सकेंगे।
मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने रविवार को इस नई सुविधा का उद्घाटन किया।
विधानसभा अध्यक्ष सतीश महाना ने बताया कि इस पहल का उद्देश्य सदन की कार्यवाही और विधायी गतिविधियों को केवल विधानसभा परिसर तक सीमित न रखकर समाज के व्यापक वर्ग तक पहुंचाना है।
उन्होंने कहा कि विशेष रूप से डिजिटल माध्यमों से जानकारी प्राप्त करने वाली युवा पीढ़ी को लोकतांत्रिक संस्थाओं से जोड़ना इस प्रयास की प्रमुख प्राथमिकताओं में शामिल है।
महाना ने कहा कि देश में कानून बनाने की प्रक्रिया पर सामान्यतः सार्वजनिक स्तर पर पर्याप्त चर्चा नहीं होती, जबकि इसका सीधा संबंध नागरिकों के जीवन से होता है।
उनके अनुसार, पॉडकास्ट के जरिए विधायक यह बता सकेंगे कि वे किन विषयों को सदन में उठाते हैं, कानून बनाने की प्रक्रिया कैसे आगे बढ़ती है और जनप्रतिनिधि के रूप में उनकी जिम्मेदारियां क्या हैं।
विधानसभा से जुड़े सूत्रों ने बताया कि इस परियोजना की रूपरेखा विशेष रूप से ऐसे युवाओं को ध्यान में रखकर तैयार की गई है, जो समाचार और जानकारी के लिए मुख्य रूप से डिजिटल प्लेटफॉर्म का उपयोग करते हैं।
इसके माध्यम से विधानमंडल के कामकाज को सरल और अधिक सुलभ बनाने का प्रयास किया जाएगा।
विधानसभा अध्यक्ष ने जानकारी दी कि इस श्रृंखला के पहले पॉडकास्ट में मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ शामिल होंगे। उन्होंने बताया कि इसका पहला एपिसोड अगले दो से तीन दिनों के भीतर रिकॉर्ड किए जाने की संभावना है।
यह मंच केवल विधायी चर्चाओं तक सीमित नहीं रहेगा। विभिन्न पेशों से राजनीति में आए विधायक भी यहां अपने जीवन की यात्रा, अनुभव और सार्वजनिक जीवन में आने की प्रेरणा साझा कर सकेंगे।
इंजीनियर, चिकित्सक, उद्यमी और अन्य क्षेत्रों से जुड़े जनप्रतिनिधियों को भी अपने अनुभव लोगों तक पहुंचाने का अवसर मिलेगा।
रविवार को विधानसभा भवन में उद्घाटन की गई नई सुविधाओं में पॉडकास्ट स्टूडियो प्रमुख आकर्षणों में शामिल रहा।
यह कार्यक्रम उत्तर प्रदेश विधानमंडल के मानसून सत्र शुरू होने से ठीक एक दिन पहले आयोजित किया गया।
इस अवसर पर मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने उत्तर प्रदेश विधान परिषद की डिजिटल लाइब्रेरी का भी उद्घाटन किया।
इसके अलावा परिषद कक्ष के सौंदर्यीकरण कार्य तथा विधान भवन के भूतल स्थित नव विकसित गलियारे का भी लोकार्पण किया गया।
मुख्यमंत्री ने बाद में पॉडकास्ट स्टूडियो का निरीक्षण किया और मानसून सत्र की तैयारियों का जायजा लिया।
उन्होंने विधानसभा परिसर में स्थापित हेलीकॉप्टर के आकार की विशेष प्रदर्शनी भी देखी, जिसमें उत्तर प्रदेश के इतिहास, धार्मिक विरासत और प्रमुख पर्यटन स्थलों को आकर्षक ढंग से प्रदर्शित किया गया है।
विधानसभा अध्यक्ष सतीश महाना ने इस अवसर पर राष्ट्रगीत वंदे मातरम् के 150 वर्ष पूरे होने के उपलक्ष्य में विशेष कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाने की भी घोषणा की।
उन्होंने कहा कि इस आयोजन में राष्ट्रगीत के सभी छह अंतरों को शामिल किया जाएगा।
अधिकारियों के अनुसार, पॉडकास्ट स्टूडियो, डिजिटल लाइब्रेरी और अन्य आधुनिक सुविधाओं की शुरुआत विधानसभा के आधुनिकीकरण की व्यापक योजना का हिस्सा है।
इसका उद्देश्य लोकतांत्रिक संस्थाओं को अधिक पारदर्शी बनाना, जनता की भागीदारी बढ़ाना तथा विधानमंडल की कार्यप्रणाली को समाज के हर वर्ग तक प्रभावी ढंग से पहुंचाना है।
