UP Gangster Beaten to Death by Villagers After Alleged Break-In at Businessman’s House in Lakhimpur Kheri

A dramatic incident unfolded in Uttar Pradesh’s Lakhimpur Kheri district on Saturday after a 45-year-old alleged gangster was reportedly beaten to death by villagers following an attempted break-in at a local businessman’s residence.

The accused, identified as Munni Lal, was allegedly caught by residents while trying to flee after injuring two members of the businessman’s family during the early morning chaos.

According to police officials, the incident took place in Rajapur village, where Munni Lal and two of his associates allegedly entered the house of businessman Sushil Bahadur in the early hours of the day.

What began as a suspected robbery attempt soon escalated into panic, violence and a large-scale chase involving villagers from the surrounding area.

Police said the situation came to light after they received information that locals had detained and assaulted a suspected criminal who had allegedly entered a house with criminal intent.

A police team immediately rushed to the village, where they recovered Munni Lal in a severely injured condition. He was taken to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Officials stated that Munni Lal was a known history-sheeter with a long criminal background.

According to Circle Officer Shamsher Bahadur Singh, several serious cases had already been registered against him at different police stations in the region over the years. Police records indicate that he was facing nearly 35 criminal cases.

Preliminary investigations suggest that the intruders had quietly entered the businessman’s home while the family was asleep.

However, the alleged burglary attempt was interrupted when a woman inside the house woke up after hearing suspicious sounds coming from an adjoining room. On checking, she reportedly discovered the men trying to break open a lock.

Realising the danger, the woman quickly raised an alarm to alert the rest of the family before locking herself inside a room for safety.

Her screams woke up other members of the household, creating panic inside the home and forcing the alleged intruders to abandon their attempt and run out of the house.

As the family members rushed outside, they reportedly managed to corner one of the men while the remaining two fled towards nearby agricultural fields.

By then, the noise and cries for help had spread across the village, prompting several residents to join the chase in an effort to catch the fleeing suspects.

Police said that during the escape attempt, Munni Lal allegedly pulled out a knife and attacked Ankit, one of Sushil Bahadur’s nephews, injuring him on the hand. Shortly afterwards, another nephew, Satish, reached the spot and was also injured during the confrontation.

Both injured men were later taken for medical treatment, and doctors confirmed that their condition remained stable.

Meanwhile, villagers surrounded the fields where Munni Lal was reportedly hiding in an attempt to evade capture.

After tracking him down, locals allegedly assaulted him before handing him over to the police. By the time officers reached the scene and shifted him to the hospital, he had lost consciousness.

The two associates who were allegedly accompanying Munni Lal managed to escape during the chaos. Police have launched a search operation to trace and arrest them, while an investigation into the entire incident is currently underway.

The incident has once again highlighted the tense law-and-order situations that can emerge in rural areas when villagers confront alleged criminals directly, often leading to violent consequences before police intervention becomes possible.
