US Intensifies Air Campaign Against Iran, Targets Bridges and Rail Network; Gulf Tensions Push Oil Prices Higher
Washington/Tehran/Doha: The conflict between the United States and Iran escalated sharply early Friday as American forces widened their air campaign, striking key civilian infrastructure in southern Iran.
According to international media reports, bridges, railway facilities and power infrastructure were among the latest targets, signalling a further intensification of the ongoing military confrontation.
Among the damaged structures were the Geryveh Bridge and the Kahurestan Bridge in Khamir County, both of which connect the strategic port city of Bandar Abbas with Shiraz.
Reports also indicated that a railway station was hit during the latest wave of attacks, disrupting transport links in the region.
The strikes also damaged electricity transmission lines in Bandar Abbas and nearby villages. Local authorities appealed to residents to conserve electricity and reduce the use of air conditioners to ease pressure on the power network.
According to the Associated Press (AP), at least seven people were killed in the latest round of US airstrikes in southern Iran.
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that American forces launched another series of precision strikes for the sixth consecutive night, saying the objective was to further weaken Iran’s military capabilities.
Tehran responded by carrying out missile attacks targeting American military installations in the Gulf region, further raising fears of a wider regional conflict.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Ministry of Defence announced that its armed forces successfully intercepted missiles launched by Iran during an attack in the early hours of Friday.
The country’s Interior Ministry later confirmed that a child was injured after being struck by shrapnel generated during the interception operation.
Officials said the child is receiving medical treatment and remains under care.
As tensions continue to rise, Reuters, citing three informed sources, reported that Iran has asked its ally, the Houthi movement in Yemen, to remain prepared to block the vital Red Sea oil shipping route if the United States launches attacks on Iran’s energy infrastructure.
According to the report, the Houthis were recently informed of Tehran’s request, although the development has not been independently confirmed.
The escalating military exchanges have also unsettled global energy markets.
With the fragile ceasefire effectively collapsing and concerns growing over disruptions to oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, crude oil prices climbed sharply in international trading.
According to market data, Brent crude rose by $1.05, or approximately 1.25 per cent, to $85.28 per barrel, while US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude gained $1.03, or around 1.3 per cent, to $79.98 per barrel, recovering losses recorded during the previous trading session.

अंतरराष्ट्रीय मीडिया रिपोर्टों के अनुसार, इस बार पुलों, रेलवे सुविधाओं और बिजली आपूर्ति से जुड़े ढांचों पर हमले किए गए, जिससे क्षेत्रीय तनाव और गहरा गया।
ताजा हमलों में खमीर काउंटी स्थित गेरीवेह पुल और कहूरेस्तान पुल क्षतिग्रस्त हुए। ये दोनों पुल रणनीतिक महत्व वाले बंदर अब्बास शहर को शिराज से जोड़ते हैं।
रिपोर्टों के अनुसार, एक रेलवे स्टेशन पर भी हमला किया गया, जिससे क्षेत्र में रेल परिवहन प्रभावित हुआ।
हमलों के कारण बंदर अब्बास और आसपास के गांवों की बिजली आपूर्ति व्यवस्था को भी नुकसान पहुंचा। स्थानीय प्रशासन ने लोगों से बिजली की खपत कम करने और विशेष रूप से एयर कंडीशनर का सीमित उपयोग करने की अपील की ताकि विद्युत व्यवस्था पर अतिरिक्त दबाव न पड़े।
एसोसिएटेड प्रेस (एपी) के अनुसार, दक्षिणी ईरान में हुए ताजा अमेरिकी हमलों में कम से कम सात लोगों की मौत हुई है।
अमेरिकी सेंट्रल कमांड (सेंटकॉम) ने कहा कि अमेरिकी सेना ने लगातार छठी रात ईरान के सैन्य ढांचे को कमजोर करने के उद्देश्य से नए सटीक हवाई हमले किए।
इसके जवाब में ईरान ने खाड़ी क्षेत्र में स्थित अमेरिकी सैन्य ठिकानों को निशाना बनाते हुए मिसाइल हमले किए, जिससे पूरे क्षेत्र में युद्ध के और व्यापक होने की आशंका बढ़ गई।
उधर, कतर के रक्षा मंत्रालय ने बताया कि उसकी सशस्त्र सेनाओं ने शुक्रवार तड़के ईरान द्वारा दागी गई मिसाइलों को सफलतापूर्वक हवा में ही रोक दिया। बाद में कतर के गृह मंत्रालय ने पुष्टि की कि इंटरसेप्शन के दौरान गिरे छर्रों की चपेट में आने से एक बच्चा घायल हो गया।
मंत्रालय के अनुसार, बच्चे का उपचार जारी है और उसकी हालत पर चिकित्सकीय निगरानी रखी जा रही है।
इस बीच रॉयटर्स ने तीन सूत्रों के हवाले से बताया कि ईरान ने अपने सहयोगी यमन के हूती विद्रोहियों से कहा है कि यदि अमेरिका ईरान के ऊर्जा ढांचे पर हमला करता है, तो वे लाल सागर के महत्वपूर्ण तेल मार्ग को बंद करने के लिए तैयार रहें।
रिपोर्ट के अनुसार, तेहरान का यह संदेश हाल ही में हूती नेतृत्व तक पहुंचाया गया, हालांकि इसकी स्वतंत्र पुष्टि नहीं हो सकी है।
लगातार बढ़ते सैन्य तनाव का असर वैश्विक ऊर्जा बाजार पर भी दिखाई देने लगा है। हॉर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य से तेल आपूर्ति बाधित होने की आशंकाओं और संघर्षविराम लगभग समाप्त हो जाने के कारण अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाजार में कच्चे तेल की कीमतों में उल्लेखनीय तेजी दर्ज की गई।
बाजार के ताजा आंकड़ों के अनुसार, ब्रेंट क्रूड की कीमत 1.05 डॉलर यानी लगभग 1.25 प्रतिशत बढ़कर 85.28 डॉलर प्रति बैरल पहुंच गई। वहीं, अमेरिकी वेस्ट टेक्सास इंटरमीडिएट (WTI) क्रूड 1.03 डॉलर यानी करीब 1.3 प्रतिशत चढ़कर 79.98 डॉलर प्रति बैरल पर पहुंच गया, जिससे पिछले कारोबारी सत्र का नुकसान लगभग पूरी तरह भर गया।
