US Launches Major Airstrikes on Iranian Military Targets as West Asia Tensions Deepen

Fresh military action intensified the crisis in West Asia after the United States carried out a series of coordinated airstrikes on Iranian military installations early Thursday.

The operation was described by the US military as a response to Iran’s recent missile attack targeting American forces stationed in Jordan.

According to US officials, the two-hour mission focused on facilities linked to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), including command centres, missile and drone infrastructure, coastal surveillance systems and maritime assets.

American officials said the objective of the operation was to weaken capabilities that could threaten US personnel, commercial shipping and regional allies.

Among the locations targeted was Qeshm Island in the Strait of Hormuz, a strategically significant area that plays a crucial role in global maritime trade and energy transportation.

The island hosts important military infrastructure used for monitoring activity across the narrow waterway.

Iranian authorities reported casualties following the strikes on Qeshm Island, while Washington maintained that the attacks were directed exclusively at military facilities.

The latest operation followed Iran’s confirmation that it had launched ballistic missiles towards US forces in Jordan.

American officials said those missiles were successfully intercepted before causing any damage.

The conflict has widened beyond Iran’s borders, raising concerns of a broader regional confrontation. Earlier, US and Saudi forces carried out strikes against Iran-backed armed groups in Iraq after attacks on Saudi energy facilities.

Meanwhile, a fire broke out aboard gas vessels at Egypt’s Mediterranean port of Damietta following a reported drone strike.

Egyptian authorities confirmed the fire but said the cause remained under investigation.

Jordan also announced that its air defence systems intercepted several missiles launched from Iran in the hours following the American operation. No casualties were reported.

The continuing exchange of military action has further heightened fears of a wider conflict across the region.

Strategic attention is increasingly centred on the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most vital maritime passages for crude oil and liquefied natural gas shipments.

Any disruption to navigation through the waterway could have serious consequences for global energy supplies and international markets.

Even as military operations continue, Washington has indicated that it remains open to a diplomatic solution.

At the same time, US officials have warned that any future attacks on American personnel or international shipping will invite a firm military response.

पश्चिम एशिया में तनाव एक नए दौर में प्रवेश कर गया जब अमेरिका ने गुरुवार तड़के ईरान के कई सैन्य ठिकानों पर समन्वित हवाई हमले किए।

अमेरिकी सेना के अनुसार यह कार्रवाई जॉर्डन में तैनात अमेरिकी सैनिकों पर हाल में हुए ईरानी मिसाइल हमले के जवाब में की गई।

लगभग दो घंटे तक चले अभियान में इस्लामिक रिवोल्यूशनरी गार्ड कॉर्प्स (आईआरजीसी) से जुड़े कमांड सेंटर, मिसाइल और ड्रोन ठिकानों, तटीय निगरानी तंत्र तथा समुद्री सैन्य क्षमताओं को निशाना बनाया गया।

अमेरिकी अधिकारियों का कहना है कि इस अभियान का उद्देश्य उन सैन्य संसाधनों को कमजोर करना था जो अमेरिकी सैनिकों, अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुद्री व्यापार और क्षेत्रीय सहयोगियों के लिए खतरा बन सकते हैं।

हमलों का एक प्रमुख लक्ष्य क़ेश्म द्वीप भी था, जो रणनीतिक दृष्टि से अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण होर्मुज़ जलडमरूमध्य में स्थित है। यह इलाका वैश्विक ऊर्जा आपूर्ति और समुद्री यातायात की दृष्टि से बेहद संवेदनशील माना जाता है।

ईरानी अधिकारियों ने क़ेश्म द्वीप पर हुए हमलों में जनहानि की पुष्टि की, जबकि अमेरिका ने कहा कि उसकी कार्रवाई केवल सैन्य प्रतिष्ठानों तक सीमित थी।

यह अभियान उस समय सामने आया जब ईरान ने जॉर्डन में अमेरिकी सैन्य ठिकानों की ओर बैलिस्टिक मिसाइलें दागने की बात स्वीकार की।

अमेरिकी पक्ष का दावा है कि इन मिसाइलों को बीच रास्ते में ही निष्क्रिय कर दिया गया।

इस बीच संघर्ष का दायरा ईरान से बाहर भी फैलता दिखाई दे रहा है। इससे पहले अमेरिका और सऊदी अरब ने इराक में ईरान समर्थित सशस्त्र समूहों के ठिकानों पर कार्रवाई की थी।

वहीं मिस्र के भूमध्यसागरीय बंदरगाह दमियाता पर गैस ले जाने वाले जहाजों में आग लगने की घटना ने क्षेत्रीय सुरक्षा को लेकर नई चिंता पैदा कर दी। मिस्र ने आग लगने की पुष्टि की है, जबकि उसके कारणों की जांच जारी है।

जॉर्डन ने भी बताया कि अमेरिकी कार्रवाई के कुछ घंटों बाद उसकी वायु रक्षा प्रणाली ने ईरान से दागी गई कई मिसाइलों को हवा में ही मार गिराया।

इस घटना में किसी प्रकार की जनहानि की सूचना नहीं है। लगातार बढ़ती सैन्य गतिविधियों ने पूरे पश्चिम एशिया में व्यापक संघर्ष की आशंकाओं को और गहरा कर दिया है।

विशेषज्ञों का मानना है कि अब टकराव का केंद्र होर्मुज़ जलडमरूमध्य बनता जा रहा है। दुनिया के तेल और तरल प्राकृतिक गैस के बड़े हिस्से की आवाजाही इसी समुद्री मार्ग से होती है।

यदि यहां नौवहन प्रभावित होता है तो वैश्विक ऊर्जा आपूर्ति और अंतरराष्ट्रीय बाजारों पर व्यापक असर पड़ सकता है।

लगातार सैन्य कार्रवाई के बावजूद अमेरिका ने संकेत दिए हैं कि वह कूटनीतिक समाधान के विकल्प को पूरी तरह बंद नहीं मानता।

हालांकि साथ ही यह भी स्पष्ट किया गया है कि अमेरिकी सैनिकों या अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुद्री मार्गों को निशाना बनाने वाली किसी भी नई कार्रवाई का कड़ा जवाब दिया जाएगा।
