Uttar Pradesh Declares Red Alert Following India’s Strikes on Terror Camps in Pakistan and PoK Under ‘Operation Sindoor’: DGP Prashant Kumar
In response to India’s bold military operation targeting terror infrastructure across the border, the state of Uttar Pradesh has been placed under Red Alert as a precautionary measure.
The announcement was made by Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar on Wednesday, following the Indian armed forces’ cross-border precision strikes under Operation Sindoor.
The military offensive was launched in retaliation for the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, where 26 civilians were killed.
According to official sources, the operation involved missile strikes targeting nine high-value terrorist locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
Among the sites hit were Bahawalpur, a known hub of Jaish-e-Mohammad, and Muridke, the operational base of Lashkar-e-Taiba.
In light of the potential for spillover threats or retaliatory attempts, the Uttar Pradesh Police, one of India’s largest state law enforcement bodies, is taking no chances.
“A Red Alert has been issued across Uttar Pradesh following the Indian Army’s decisive action against terrorist hideouts under #OperationSindoor,” said DGP Prashant Kumar in an official statement released on social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
He emphasized that all field units and district police heads have been directed to remain on the highest level of alertness.
They have been instructed to intensify coordination with the defense and intelligence agencies and enhance the security of vital infrastructure, public spaces, and sensitive installations across the state.
The DGP further assured the public that the police force is fully prepared to handle any eventuality.
“The UP Police is fully alert, equipped with all necessary resources, and completely committed to ensuring the safety and security of every citizen in the state. Jai Hind!” he added.
The Red Alert implies heightened surveillance at railway stations, airports, government buildings, power grids, religious sites, and other locations deemed to be of strategic or symbolic importance.
Security patrols have been intensified, checkpoints are being closely monitored, and quick response teams have been put on standby.
Given Uttar Pradesh’s size, population density, and geographic proximity to New Delhi, maintaining heightened vigilance is crucial.
The state has also experienced incidents of terror-related activities in the past, making its preparedness particularly critical in times of national security tension.
The move comes amid broader national preparedness measures being taken by several Indian states and union territories in response to escalating hostilities along the LoC and beyond
