Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Eidgah Case: Allahabad High Court Defers Hearing to August 25 as Mediation Continues

Prayagraj: The Allahabad High Court on Friday postponed further proceedings in the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Eidgah mosque dispute until August 25, after both sides jointly informed the court that mediation efforts are currently underway before the district court in Mathura in accordance with the directions of the Supreme Court.
Hearing the matter, Justice Avnish Saxena recorded that counsel representing all parties requested additional time as the mediation process is still in progress.
The court also took note of the Supreme Court’s schedule for the upcoming Lok Adalat, fixed between August 21 and August 23, 2026, before granting the adjournment sought by both sides.
During the proceedings, one of the plaintiffs submitted a fresh application requesting directions to the Uttar Pradesh government and the local administration to prevent any individual or organisation from entering the disputed premises to hold meetings, perform Kar Seva, or organise any programme that could potentially disturb law and order or public tranquillity.
Taking the plea on record, the High Court directed all concerned parties to file their objections, if any, before the matter is considered further.
The litigation involves 18 civil suits instituted by the Hindu side.
Through these petitions, the plaintiffs have sought possession of the land after the removal of the Shahi Eidgah mosque structure, restoration of the alleged temple at the site, and a permanent injunction in the matter.
The long-standing dispute centres on the Shahi Eidgah mosque in Mathura, which dates back to the reign of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
The Hindu petitioners contend that the mosque was constructed after demolishing a temple believed to have existed at the birthplace of Lord Krishna.
The Muslim side disputes these claims, and the matter remains under judicial consideration.

प्रयागराज: इलाहाबाद हाईकोर्ट ने शुक्रवार को कृष्ण जन्मभूमि-शाही ईदगाह विवाद से जुड़े मामलों की सुनवाई 25 अगस्त तक स्थगित कर दी।
दोनों पक्षों ने संयुक्त रूप से अदालत को बताया कि सर्वोच्च न्यायालय के निर्देशों के अनुरूप मथुरा की जिला अदालत में मध्यस्थता की प्रक्रिया जारी है, जिसके चलते सुनवाई आगे बढ़ाने का अनुरोध किया गया।
मामले की सुनवाई कर रहे न्यायमूर्ति अवनीश सक्सेना ने अपने आदेश में उल्लेख किया कि पक्षकारों के अधिवक्ताओं ने बताया है कि समझौते के प्रयास अभी जारी हैं।
अदालत ने यह भी संज्ञान लिया कि सर्वोच्च न्यायालय द्वारा 21 से 23 अगस्त 2026 तक लोक अदालत की तिथियां निर्धारित की गई हैं। इन परिस्थितियों को देखते हुए हाईकोर्ट ने संयुक्त अनुरोध स्वीकार करते हुए अगली सुनवाई 25 अगस्त तय कर दी।
सुनवाई के दौरान वादी पक्ष की ओर से एक नया प्रार्थना पत्र भी दाखिल किया गया।
इसमें उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार और स्थानीय प्रशासन को निर्देश देने की मांग की गई कि विवादित परिसर में किसी भी व्यक्ति या संगठन को बैठक आयोजित करने, कार सेवा करने अथवा ऐसा कोई कार्यक्रम आयोजित करने की अनुमति न दी जाए जिससे कानून-व्यवस्था या सार्वजनिक शांति प्रभावित होने की आशंका हो।
इस आवेदन पर विचार करते हुए हाईकोर्ट ने सभी संबंधित पक्षों को निर्देश दिया कि यदि उन्हें कोई आपत्ति हो तो निर्धारित समय के भीतर अपना जवाब दाखिल करें।
गौरतलब है कि हिंदू पक्ष की ओर से इस विवाद को लेकर 18 दीवानी वाद दायर किए गए हैं। इन वादों में शाही ईदगाह मस्जिद के ढांचे को हटाकर भूमि का कब्जा सौंपने, कथित मंदिर के पुनर्स्थापन तथा स्थायी निषेधाज्ञा जारी करने की मांग की गई है।
यह बहुचर्चित विवाद मथुरा स्थित शाही ईदगाह मस्जिद से जुड़ा है, जिसका निर्माण मुगल बादशाह औरंगज़ेब के शासनकाल में हुआ था।
हिंदू पक्ष का दावा है कि यह मस्जिद भगवान श्रीकृष्ण के जन्मस्थान पर स्थित प्राचीन मंदिर को ध्वस्त कर बनाई गई थी।
वहीं मुस्लिम पक्ष इन दावों का विरोध करता है। मामला फिलहाल न्यायिक प्रक्रिया और मध्यस्थता, दोनों स्तरों पर विचाराधीन है।
