UP chief minister highlights the cultural significance of Ayodhya, Kashi and Mathura-Vrindavan; directs officials to speed up assistance for flood-hit families and farmers.s

GORAKHPUR/KUSHINAGAR: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday used separate public engagements in Gorakhpur and flood-affected Kushinagar to underline two themes — the preservation of India’s traditional cultural practices and the government’s response to the recent floods.

Speaking at the Gorakhnath Temple in Gorakhpur, Adityanath said India’s historical and cultural identity had developed around traditions that he described as Sanatan.

He argued that understanding the country required an appreciation of the religious and cultural traditions that have evolved over centuries.

The chief minister said Uttar Pradesh occupies a particularly important place in this cultural landscape because several of the country’s major pilgrimage centres are located in the state.

He cited Ayodhya, Varanasi, Mathura-Vrindavan and Prayagraj as examples, associating each with a distinct aspect of the wider religious tradition.

According to Adityanath, Ayodhya represents maryada, Kashi spiritual consciousness, Mathura-Vrindavan devotion, and Prayagraj the collective social character associated with the Kumbh.

He said these traditions form an important part of the cultural fabric through which Uttar Pradesh and India are understood.

Appeal for greater participation in cattle care

The chief minister also made a case for greater involvement of ordinary citizens in the protection of cattle.

He said traditional household practices of feeding animals had a social purpose and suggested that their revival could help address the problem of stray cattle and dogs.

He maintained that cattle protection should not be viewed solely as a government responsibility. Referring to the cultural association between the cow and the earth, Adityanath said environmental concerns and cattle welfare were interconnected.

The state, he said, is currently supporting the upkeep of more than 16 lakh cattle through thousands of cow shelters. Farmers taking care of abandoned cattle are also eligible for monthly financial support of ₹1,500 per animal, according to the chief minister.

Adityanath urged people to contribute to the running of gaushalas and said citizens could support cattle welfare by taking responsibility for animals housed there. He also spoke about the traditional importance of indigenous cattle breeds and the use of cow-based practices in agriculture.

CM visits flood-hit Kushinagar

The chief minister’s visit to Kushinagar later brought the focus to the immediate concerns of families affected by flooding in the Tamkuhiraj area.

The flooding followed a sharp rise in the Narayani River after heavy rainfall and increased water discharge from Nepal. The pressure on the river system resulted in damage to an embankment, allowing water to enter residential areas.

Adityanath reviewed the situation from the air before meeting affected residents at Bedupar Inter College. Relief supplies were distributed during the visit, while officials were instructed to identify families requiring immediate assistance.

Families who lost members in the disaster will receive ₹4 lakh as ex-gratia assistance, the chief minister announced.

For households whose homes have been destroyed, the administration will facilitate housing under either the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana or the Mukhyamantri Awas Yojana.

People whose houses suffered partial damage will also receive financial help for repairs, he said.

Crop-loss assessment ordered

The chief minister directed the administration to assess damage to agricultural fields and process compensation for affected farmers within 10 days.

He also said thousands of relief packages had been prepared for families in the affected areas. The supplies include staple food items and other household necessities intended to help families during the disruption caused by the flooding.

Officials were told to move residents from vulnerable locations to relief camps wherever necessary. Adityanath also stressed the need for proper lighting and basic facilities at the camps.

Explaining the circumstances behind the flooding, the chief minister said the Narayani normally carries around three to four lakh cusecs of water but had experienced a sudden surge to approximately 5.5 lakh cusecs.

The resulting pressure contributed to the embankment failure and flooding in nearby settlements.

With rainfall conditions improving, the administration is continuing to monitor the situation and assess the extent of damage, the chief minister said.

गोरखपुर/कुशीनगर: उत्तर प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ ने मंगलवार को गोरखपुर और बाढ़ प्रभावित कुशीनगर में अलग-अलग कार्यक्रमों के दौरान राज्य की सांस्कृतिक परंपराओं और आपदा राहत व्यवस्था से जुड़े मुद्दों पर बात की।

गोरखपुर में उन्होंने सनातन परंपरा को भारत की सांस्कृतिक पहचान का आधार बताया, जबकि कुशीनगर में बाढ़ प्रभावित परिवारों के लिए आर्थिक सहायता और आवास संबंधी घोषणाएं कीं।

गोरखनाथ मंदिर में आयोजित कार्यक्रम में मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि भारत की पहचान को उसकी प्राचीन धार्मिक और सांस्कृतिक परंपराओं से अलग करके नहीं देखा जा सकता।

उन्होंने कहा कि देश की सभ्यता ने लंबे समय में ऐसी परंपराओं को विकसित किया, जिनका प्रभाव सामाजिक और सांस्कृतिक जीवन पर पड़ा।

उन्होंने उत्तर प्रदेश के धार्मिक महत्व को रेखांकित करते हुए अयोध्या, काशी, मथुरा-वृंदावन और प्रयागराज का उल्लेख किया। मुख्यमंत्री के अनुसार, इन तीर्थस्थलों की अपनी अलग सांस्कृतिक पहचान है और इन्हें समझे बिना उत्तर प्रदेश की व्यापक विरासत को समझना मुश्किल है।

योगी ने अयोध्या को मर्यादा, काशी को आध्यात्मिक चेतना, मथुरा-वृंदावन को भक्ति और प्रयागराज के कुंभ को सामाजिक समरसता से जोड़ते हुए कहा कि ये परंपराएं उत्तर प्रदेश के सांस्कृतिक स्वरूप का महत्वपूर्ण हिस्सा हैं।

गोवंश की देखभाल में समाज से सहयोग की अपील

मुख्यमंत्री ने गोवंश के संरक्षण के मुद्दे पर भी लोगों से सक्रिय भागीदारी का आह्वान किया। उन्होंने कहा कि पशुओं को भोजन कराने जैसी पारंपरिक व्यवस्थाओं का उद्देश्य केवल धार्मिक अनुष्ठान नहीं था, बल्कि उनमें सामाजिक जिम्मेदारी का भाव भी निहित था।

उन्होंने कहा कि गोसंरक्षण का दायित्व केवल सरकार पर छोड़ना उचित नहीं है। उनके मुताबिक, गाय और धरती से जुड़ी भारतीय परंपराओं को देखते हुए पर्यावरण संरक्षण और गोवंश की देखभाल को साथ-साथ आगे बढ़ाने की आवश्यकता है।

मुख्यमंत्री ने बताया कि प्रदेश में बड़ी संख्या में गोवंश को गोआश्रय स्थलों में रखा जा रहा है। उनके अनुसार, 7,000 से अधिक गोशालाओं में 16 लाख से ज्यादा गोवंश की देखभाल हो रही है।

उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि निराश्रित गोवंश को अपने स्तर पर रखने वाले किसानों को सरकार की ओर से प्रति पशु ₹1,500 मासिक सहायता दी जा रही है।

योगी ने लोगों से गोशालाओं की व्यवस्था में सहयोग करने और वहां रखे गए पशुओं की जिम्मेदारी लेने की अपील की। उन्होंने देशी नस्ल के गोवंश और पारंपरिक कृषि पद्धतियों के महत्व पर भी जोर दिया।

कुशीनगर में बाढ़ प्रभावित इलाकों का जायजा

गोरखपुर के कार्यक्रम के बाद मुख्यमंत्री ने कुशीनगर के तमकुहीराज क्षेत्र में बाढ़ की स्थिति का जायजा लिया। नारायणी नदी में अचानक बढ़े पानी और तटबंध को नुकसान पहुंचने के बाद आसपास के कई इलाकों में बाढ़ का पानी फैल गया था।

योगी आदित्यनाथ ने प्रभावित क्षेत्र का हवाई निरीक्षण किया और बाद में बेदूपार इंटर कॉलेज में प्रभावित परिवारों से मुलाकात की। इस दौरान कुछ परिवारों को राहत सामग्री भी उपलब्ध कराई गई।

मुख्यमंत्री ने बाढ़ में जान गंवाने वाले लोगों के परिवारों को ₹4 लाख की आर्थिक सहायता देने की घोषणा की। पूरी तरह क्षतिग्रस्त मकानों के लिए पात्र परिवारों को प्रधानमंत्री आवास योजना अथवा मुख्यमंत्री आवास योजना के माध्यम से नए मकान उपलब्ध कराने की बात भी कही।

जिन घरों को आंशिक नुकसान पहुंचा है, उनकी मरम्मत के लिए भी सरकारी सहायता उपलब्ध कराई जाएगी।

फसल नुकसान का सर्वे 10 दिन में पूरा करने का निर्देश

योगी आदित्यनाथ ने अधिकारियों को बाढ़ के कारण खेतों में हुए नुकसान का आकलन तेजी से पूरा करने और प्रभावित किसानों को 10 दिन के भीतर मुआवजा उपलब्ध कराने की प्रक्रिया आगे बढ़ाने का निर्देश दिया।

बाढ़ प्रभावित परिवारों के लिए करीब 5,000 राहत पैकेट तैयार किए गए हैं। इनमें खाद्यान्न, दाल, तेल, मसाले, नमक और अन्य जरूरी घरेलू सामग्री शामिल हैं।

मुख्यमंत्री ने प्रशासन से कहा कि जिन लोगों के लिए मौजूदा स्थानों पर रहना सुरक्षित नहीं है, उन्हें राहत शिविरों में पहुंचाया जाए। शिविरों में पर्याप्त रोशनी, भोजन और दूसरी मूलभूत सुविधाओं की उपलब्धता सुनिश्चित करने के निर्देश भी दिए गए।

उन्होंने बताया कि लगातार बारिश और नेपाल से आने वाले अतिरिक्त पानी के कारण नारायणी नदी में जलप्रवाह असामान्य रूप से बढ़ गया था। सामान्य परिस्थितियों में नदी में तीन से चार लाख क्यूसेक पानी बहता है, जबकि इस दौरान प्रवाह लगभग 5.5 लाख क्यूसेक तक पहुंच गया।

जलप्रवाह में इस तेज वृद्धि से तटबंध पर दबाव बढ़ा और उसके क्षतिग्रस्त होने के बाद आसपास के इलाकों में पानी फैल गया। मौसम में सुधार के बाद प्रशासन स्थिति पर नजर रखते हुए प्रभावित क्षेत्रों में राहत और नुकसान के आकलन का काम आगे बढ़ा रहा है।
