The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister launched Rs 879 crore worth of projects while challenging Rahul Gandhi’s comments on tradition, attacking the Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance and highlighting the district’s industrial progress.
Rae Bareli witnessed a combination of government announcements and high-voltage political sparring on Monday as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath used his visit to the Congress stronghold to challenge Rahul Gandhi on culture, leadership and the district’s development record.
At the official programme, Adityanath inaugurated and launched 346 projects involving an investment of about Rs 879 crore.
But his address went well beyond infrastructure, turning into a sustained critique of the Congress MP and other Opposition parties.
A major point of contention was Rahul Gandhi’s recent interaction with female students in Maharashtra.
During that conversation, Gandhi had spoken about breaking patriarchal attitudes and referred critically to what he called a “Manusmriti mindset”, saying women should be free to define their own lives rather than be treated as belonging to male relatives.
Adityanath countered that Gandhi was entitled to his views but should not, in the Chief Minister’s assessment, make assertions that could distort historical understanding among young people.
He urged political leaders to demonstrate responsibility in their public messaging.
The Chief Minister also sought to defend the historical significance of Manu, referring to mentions of Manu in ancient Indian literature.
He cited the Atharvaveda, Shatapatha Brahmana, Mahabharata and Matsya Purana while questioning Rahul Gandhi’s criticism.
Adityanath further linked Manu to the traditional calendar system and portrayed the controversy as part of a wider disagreement over how India’s cultural inheritance should be viewed.
Without naming the issue as an isolated debate, the Chief Minister also referred to a recent incident involving a woman who had made a controversial comment about Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a protest in Delhi and later apologised.
Adityanath used the episode to argue that public figures should encourage young people to maintain responsible conduct.
The attack then broadened into a larger assault on the Opposition. Adityanath accused the Congress of pursuing policies that, he claimed, had weakened social cohesion and harmed national interests.
He made similar allegations against the Samajwadi Party and its allies.
Akhilesh Yadav too came under fire. Referring to the Samajwadi Party president as “Babua”, Adityanath mocked a reported statement connected with the political importance of members of Yadav’s family, alleging that the SP leadership was excessively centred on its own relatives.
For much of the speech, however, the political focus remained firmly on Raebareli and its neighbouring Amethi.
Adityanath argued that the two areas had remained under the political influence of the Congress for decades without achieving the level of transformation that such long representation should have delivered.
He challenged the old image of Raebareli as a privileged political constituency, saying political prominence had not automatically resulted in better opportunities or wider access to public services for ordinary residents.
According to him, the BJP governments were now attempting to replace that model with a development-driven approach.
Adityanath also claimed that welfare delivery had become more efficient under the BJP.
Referring to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi’s widely remembered remark about a large portion of government funds failing to reach beneficiaries, the Chief Minister blamed the earlier political system for leakages and corruption.
He said the present governments had worked to ensure that assistance reaches eligible citizens more directly.
Rail manufacturing featured prominently in his description of Raebareli’s economic potential.
Adityanath highlighted the modern coach factory in the district, saying it manufactured 2,106 coaches during 2025-26.
He further said the plant achieved another milestone in May 2026 with the rollout of a complete Vande Bharat train set.
The Chief Minister presented such industrial activity as part of a broader strategy for employment and economic growth.
Better infrastructure and manufacturing capacity, he said, could create jobs while also supporting farmers, workers and traditional artisans.
Adityanath accused previous governments of failing to provide sufficient employment, dependable electricity and effective welfare support.
He also alleged that the earlier political environment had been marked by land-related injustice and inadequate protection for women.
Projecting his government’s law-and-order record, the Chief Minister said Uttar Pradesh had adopted a firm approach towards criminal activity.
He repeated that anyone threatening the safety of women or the interests of traders would face stringent action.
The visit therefore carried two distinct messages.
On one side was a package of public projects and a narrative of industrial expansion; on the other was an attempt to politically confront Rahul Gandhi on his own electoral turf.
By placing the Manusmriti controversy alongside questions of cultural identity, welfare delivery, infrastructure and Raebareli’s political history, Adityanath sought to frame the debate as a contest between competing visions of India’s traditions and Uttar Pradesh’s development.

रायबरेली में सोमवार को मुख्यमंत्री योगी आदित्यनाथ का कार्यक्रम केवल विकास परियोजनाओं तक सीमित नहीं रहा।
एक तरफ उन्होंने जिले के लिए करोड़ों रुपये की योजनाओं की शुरुआत की, वहीं दूसरी ओर राहुल गांधी की विचारधारा, कांग्रेस के पुराने शासन और विपक्षी दलों की राजनीति पर तीखे सवाल भी उठाए।
मुख्यमंत्री ने करीब 879 करोड़ रुपये की लागत वाली 346 परियोजनाओं का उद्घाटन और शिलान्यास किया। मंच से उन्होंने इसे रायबरेली के बदलते विकास परिदृश्य से जोड़ा, लेकिन अपने भाषण का बड़ा हिस्सा कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी की हालिया टिप्पणियों के जवाब में रखा।
राहुल गांधी ने कुछ दिन पहले महाराष्ट्र में छात्राओं के साथ बातचीत करते हुए पितृसत्तात्मक सोच के खिलाफ आवाज उठाने की बात कही थी।
उन्होंने “मनुस्मृति मानसिकता” की आलोचना करते हुए कहा था कि महिलाओं को किसी पुरुष रिश्ते के अधीन मानने की सोच को चुनौती दी जानी चाहिए।
योगी आदित्यनाथ ने इसी मुद्दे को अपने भाषण का प्रमुख आधार बनाया।
उन्होंने कहा कि विचारों में मतभेद हो सकते हैं, लेकिन सार्वजनिक जीवन में रहने वाले लोगों को इतिहास और परंपराओं से जुड़े विषयों पर तथ्यात्मक जिम्मेदारी के साथ बोलना चाहिए।
मुख्यमंत्री का कहना था कि देश की युवा पीढ़ी को गलत सूचनाओं या भ्रामक व्याख्याओं से प्रभावित नहीं किया जाना चाहिए।
मनु के संदर्भ में मुख्यमंत्री ने कई प्राचीन भारतीय ग्रंथों का उल्लेख किया।
उन्होंने कहा कि अथर्ववेद, शतपथ ब्राह्मण, महाभारत और मत्स्य पुराण में मनु का उल्लेख मिलता है।
योगी ने यह सवाल भी उठाया कि जब मनु भारतीय बौद्धिक और सांस्कृतिक परंपरा के विभिन्न स्रोतों में वर्णित हैं, तो उन्हें लेकर अपमानजनक या गलत दावे क्यों किए जाएं।
उन्होंने सनातन परंपरा में प्रचलित पंचांग का जिक्र करते हुए भी मनु की ऐतिहासिक भूमिका का उल्लेख किया।
मुख्यमंत्री के भाषण से स्पष्ट था कि वह राहुल गांधी के बयान को केवल एक राजनीतिक टिप्पणी नहीं, बल्कि भारतीय सांस्कृतिक परंपराओं पर बहस के रूप में प्रस्तुत करना चाहते हैं।
योगी आदित्यनाथ ने दिल्ली में हुए एक प्रदर्शन का भी उल्लेख किया, जिसमें प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के खिलाफ एक युवती की विवादित टिप्पणी के बाद माफी मांगे जाने का मामला सामने आया था।
मुख्यमंत्री ने इस घटना का हवाला देते हुए कहा कि वरिष्ठ नेताओं को युवाओं के लिए संयमित और जिम्मेदार व्यवहार का उदाहरण प्रस्तुत करना चाहिए।
इसके बाद उनका निशाना कांग्रेस से आगे बढ़कर समाजवादी पार्टी तक पहुंचा।
सपा अध्यक्ष अखिलेश यादव पर टिप्पणी करते हुए योगी ने “बबुआ” संबोधन का इस्तेमाल किया और एक कथित राजनीतिक बयान को लेकर परिवारवाद का मुद्दा उठाया।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कांग्रेस और सपा समेत विपक्षी दलों पर देश और राज्य के व्यापक हितों के बजाय राजनीतिक लाभ को प्राथमिकता देने का आरोप लगाया।
हालांकि विपक्ष की ओर से इन आरोपों पर कोई तत्काल प्रतिक्रिया सामने नहीं आई।
रायबरेली के राजनीतिक इतिहास पर चर्चा करते हुए योगी आदित्यनाथ ने कहा कि लंबे समय तक यह क्षेत्र देश की सबसे चर्चित संसदीय सीटों में गिना जाता रहा, लेकिन राजनीतिक प्रतिष्ठा का लाभ आम नागरिकों तक पर्याप्त रूप से नहीं पहुंचा।
उन्होंने कांग्रेस पर रायबरेली और अमेठी को दशकों तक अपने राजनीतिक प्रभाव के केंद्र के रूप में इस्तेमाल करने का आरोप लगाया।
मुख्यमंत्री ने दावा किया कि भाजपा के शासन में इस स्थिति को बदलने का प्रयास किया गया है।
उनके अनुसार, सरकारी योजनाओं और बुनियादी ढांचे का विस्तार अब राजनीतिक परिवारों के प्रभाव के बजाय आम लोगों की जरूरतों को ध्यान में रखकर किया जा रहा है।
पूर्व प्रधानमंत्री राजीव गांधी की उस प्रसिद्ध टिप्पणी को भी योगी ने अपने तर्क में शामिल किया, जिसमें सरकारी धन के लाभार्थियों तक पूरी तरह न पहुंचने की बात कही गई थी।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि पुरानी व्यवस्था में भ्रष्टाचार और लीकेज के कारण सरकारी सहायता का बड़ा हिस्सा रास्ते में ही समाप्त हो जाता था।
उन्होंने दावा किया कि भाजपा सरकारों ने प्रत्यक्ष लाभ और डिजिटल प्रणालियों के माध्यम से इस व्यवस्था को बेहतर बनाया है।
रायबरेली की औद्योगिक क्षमता पर बोलते हुए मुख्यमंत्री ने आधुनिक कोच फैक्टरी का विशेष उल्लेख किया। उन्होंने बताया कि 2025-26 में इस इकाई ने 2,106 रेल कोचों का उत्पादन किया।
मई 2026 में फैक्टरी से पहली पूर्ण वंदे भारत ट्रेन सेट के रोलआउट को भी उन्होंने जिले के औद्योगिक विकास की महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि बताया।
योगी आदित्यनाथ ने कहा कि विकास का वास्तविक उद्देश्य केवल निर्माण कार्य नहीं, बल्कि रोजगार और आर्थिक अवसरों का विस्तार है।
उन्होंने कहा कि उद्योगों की वृद्धि से युवाओं को काम मिलेगा और किसानों, श्रमिकों तथा कारीगरों की आय बढ़ाने में भी मदद मिल सकती है।
मुख्यमंत्री ने पिछली सरकारों पर रोजगार, बिजली और सामाजिक कल्याण की योजनाओं के क्रियान्वयन में विफल रहने का आरोप लगाया।
महिलाओं की सुरक्षा और कानून-व्यवस्था के मुद्दे पर भी उन्होंने पूर्ववर्ती शासन पर निशाना साधा।
उन्होंने कहा कि मौजूदा सरकार अपराध के मामलों में सख्त नीति पर काम कर रही है और महिलाओं तथा व्यापारियों की सुरक्षा से समझौता करने वालों के खिलाफ कठोर कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
रायबरेली में मुख्यमंत्री का यह दौरा इस लिहाज से अहम रहा कि इसमें विकास की परियोजनाओं के साथ एक मजबूत राजनीतिक संदेश भी दिया गया।
राहुल गांधी के निर्वाचन क्षेत्र में मनुस्मृति विवाद को उठाकर योगी आदित्यनाथ ने सांस्कृतिक पहचान, विपक्ष की राजनीति और क्षेत्रीय विकास—तीनों मुद्दों को एक ही राजनीतिक विमर्श में जोड़ दिया।
कार्यक्रम ने यह भी संकेत दिया कि रायबरेली और अमेठी जैसे पारंपरिक राजनीतिक केंद्र आने वाले समय में केवल चुनावी समीकरणों के लिए नहीं, बल्कि विकास, सांस्कृतिक विमर्श और शासन के दावों को लेकर भी भाजपा और कांग्रेस के बीच प्रमुख राजनीतिक संघर्ष का मैदान बने रहेंगे।
