Aamir Khan Breaks Silence on ‘Love Jihad’ Row, Clarifies Wife Gauri Spratt’s Faith and Mumbai Redevelopment Reports
Bollywood star Aamir Khan has responded to the controversy surrounding his recent marriage, addressing allegations circulating on social media that labelled him the “brand ambassador of love jihad.”
The actor, who recently married Gauri Spratt, rejected the claims and clarified that his family has always embraced diversity, adding that none of his marriages involved religious conversion.
Speaking candidly in an interview, Aamir said the perception being created online was factually incorrect.
He pointed out that his wife, Gauri Spratt, is Christian and not Hindu, contrary to claims made by several social media users.
He further explained that none of his wives—including Reena Dutta, Kiran Rao, or Gauri—changed their religion because all of his marriages were conducted under the provisions of civil law rather than through religious ceremonies.
Highlighting the diversity within his extended family, the actor said interfaith relationships have long been a natural part of his personal life.
He noted that both his sisters are married to Hindu men, his daughter has married a Hindu, and his cousin Mansoor Khan is married to a Christian.
According to Aamir, these relationships reflect mutual respect rather than religious divisions.
He remarked that the ongoing controversy had become increasingly ironic, adding that Gauri is not only Christian but is also not a practising follower of the faith.
Apart from the marriage-related debate, Aamir also addressed widespread reports concerning a major property acquisition in Mumbai.
Speculation had suggested that he had purchased several additional apartments in Marina Apartments, a residential complex currently undergoing redevelopment, with plans to house his present and former family members within the same building.
Responding to those reports, Aamir clarified that the redevelopment project was not an individual initiative but a collective decision taken by the apartment owners’ housing society.
He explained that the building, like many ageing residential structures across Mumbai, is being redeveloped under an agreement approved by all members.
He added that the society consists of 24 members, while the developer owns a substantial portion of the property, making the redevelopment a joint decision rather than a personal project.
Earlier media reports had claimed that the actor had invested nearly ₹100 crore in acquiring additional apartments within the redeveloped complex, where he already reportedly owns multiple flats.
It was also suggested that separate floors had been earmarked for Aamir and Gauri, his son Junaid Khan, filmmaker Kiran Rao and their son Azad, while dedicated space was also being planned for his mother, sisters and family gatherings.
However, Aamir’s latest clarification indicates that many of these reports were speculative and overstated.
Reflecting on his personal journey, Aamir’s first marriage was to Reena Dutta, with whom he has two children—Junaid Khan and Ira Khan.
The couple separated after sixteen years of marriage. He later married filmmaker Kiran Rao in 2005.
Although the two announced their separation in 2021, they continue to jointly raise their son Azad.
Earlier this year, Aamir entered into his third marriage with Gauri Spratt, a Bengaluru-based acquaintance whom he had introduced to the media around his 60th birthday celebrations last year.

बॉलीवुड अभिनेता आमिर खान ने अपनी हालिया शादी को लेकर सोशल मीडिया पर उठे विवाद पर पहली बार खुलकर प्रतिक्रिया दी है।
तीसरी शादी के बाद कुछ सोशल मीडिया पोस्टों में उन्हें कथित रूप से “लव जिहाद का ब्रांड एंबेसडर” बताया गया था और दावा किया गया था कि उनकी तीनों पत्नियां हिंदू थीं।
इन आरोपों को खारिज करते हुए आमिर ने कहा कि वास्तविकता इससे बिल्कुल अलग है और उनके किसी भी विवाह में धर्म परिवर्तन नहीं हुआ।
एक साक्षात्कार में आमिर ने स्पष्ट किया कि उनकी वर्तमान पत्नी गौरी स्प्रैट हिंदू नहीं बल्कि ईसाई हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि उनकी पहली पत्नी रीना दत्ता, दूसरी पत्नी किरण राव और अब गौरी—तीनों में से किसी ने भी विवाह के लिए अपना धर्म नहीं बदला।
आमिर के अनुसार, उनके सभी विवाह सिविल मैरिज के माध्यम से हुए, इसलिए धार्मिक परिवर्तन का कोई प्रश्न ही नहीं उठता।
अपने परिवार की विविधता का उल्लेख करते हुए अभिनेता ने कहा कि उनके परिवार में अलग-अलग धर्मों के बीच विवाह कोई नई बात नहीं है।
उन्होंने बताया कि उनकी दोनों बहनों की शादी हिंदू परिवारों में हुई है, उनकी बेटी ने भी एक हिंदू युवक से विवाह किया है, जबकि उनके चचेरे भाई मंसूर खान की पत्नी ईसाई हैं।
आमिर ने कहा कि उनका परिवार हमेशा विभिन्न संस्कृतियों और आस्थाओं का सम्मान करता आया है।
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि जिस प्रकार की बातें सोशल मीडिया पर कही जा रही हैं, वे वास्तविक तथ्यों से मेल नहीं खातीं। उन्होंने यह भी स्पष्ट किया कि गौरी ईसाई हैं और स्वयं भी धार्मिक रूप से सक्रिय नहीं हैं।
शादी के बाद आमिर खान मुंबई स्थित मरीना अपार्टमेंट्स के पुनर्विकास (रीडेवलपमेंट) को लेकर सामने आई खबरों के कारण भी चर्चा में रहे।
कई रिपोर्टों में दावा किया गया था कि उन्होंने पुनर्निर्मित होने वाली इमारत में कई अतिरिक्त फ्लैट खरीदे हैं और भविष्य में अपने वर्तमान तथा पूर्व परिवार के सदस्यों को एक ही परिसर में बसाने की योजना बना रहे हैं।
इन अटकलों पर प्रतिक्रिया देते हुए आमिर ने कहा कि इमारत का पुनर्विकास उनका व्यक्तिगत निर्णय नहीं, बल्कि पूरी हाउसिंग सोसायटी का सामूहिक फैसला है।
उन्होंने बताया कि मुंबई की अनेक पुरानी इमारतों की तरह उनका आवासीय परिसर भी पुनर्निर्माण की प्रक्रिया से गुजर रहा है।
इस परियोजना को सोसायटी के सभी सदस्यों की सहमति से मंजूरी दी गई है। उन्होंने कहा कि सोसायटी में 24 सदस्य हैं और भवन का बड़ा हिस्सा एक बिल्डर के स्वामित्व में है, इसलिए यह पूरी तरह सामूहिक प्रक्रिया है।
इससे पहले मीडिया रिपोर्टों में दावा किया गया था कि आमिर ने इस परियोजना में लगभग 100 करोड़ रुपये का निवेश करते हुए कई नए फ्लैट खरीदे हैं।
खबरों में यह भी कहा गया कि दो मंजिलें आमिर और गौरी के लिए, एक मंजिल पारिवारिक आयोजनों के लिए, एक उनके बेटे जुनैद खान के लिए तथा एक मंजिल किरण राव और उनके बेटे आजाद के लिए निर्धारित की गई है।
साथ ही उनकी मां और बहनों के लिए भी अलग आवास की योजना होने की बात कही गई थी। हालांकि आमिर के ताजा बयान से संकेत मिलता है कि इन खबरों का बड़ा हिस्सा अटकलों पर आधारित था और वास्तविक स्थिति को बढ़ा-चढ़ाकर पेश किया गया।
यदि उनके व्यक्तिगत जीवन की बात करें तो आमिर खान का पहला विवाह रीना दत्ता से हुआ था, जिनसे उनके दो बच्चे—जुनैद खान और आइरा खान—हैं। लगभग सोलह वर्ष साथ रहने के बाद दोनों का तलाक हो गया।
इसके बाद वर्ष 2005 में उन्होंने फिल्म निर्माता किरण राव से विवाह किया। वर्ष 2021 में दोनों ने अलग होने की घोषणा की, लेकिन आज भी अपने बेटे आजाद की संयुक्त रूप से परवरिश कर रहे हैं।
हाल ही में आमिर ने बेंगलुरु निवासी गौरी स्प्रैट से विवाह किया। गौरी को उन्होंने पिछले वर्ष अपने 60वें जन्मदिन के आसपास पहली बार मीडिया से परिचित कराया था।
