Pilibhit Medical College Student Stabbed to Death Inside Campus; Fellow Paramedical Student Arrested
A shocking incident at the Government Medical College and Hospital in Pilibhit claimed the life of a 22-year-old paramedical student on Tuesday after she was allegedly attacked with a knife by a fellow student inside the campus.
The broad daylight assault has sent shockwaves through the medical institution and raised serious concerns over campus security.
The deceased, Kashish Patel, was pursuing the first year of a Diploma in CT Scan Technology at the government medical college.
Following the attack, she was immediately shifted to a hospital in Bareilly for advanced treatment. Despite doctors’ efforts, she succumbed to her injuries.
Law enforcement officials have taken into custody the accused, Sagar Singh, aged 24, who is enrolled in the first-year X-ray Technician course at the same institution.
Police have launched a detailed investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the fatal assault.
Preliminary findings indicate that the incident may have stemmed from what investigators describe as a one-sided emotional attachment.
However, officers have clarified that the exact motive has not yet been established. Investigators are also examining whether the attack had been carefully planned.
According to the police investigation, Kashish was on duty inside the CT scan room on Tuesday morning when Sagar allegedly entered carrying a knife.
The two reportedly exchanged a few words before a heated argument broke out. During the altercation, the accused allegedly pulled out the weapon and attacked her.
Kashish attempted to escape, but the accused reportedly chased her through the room before inflicting multiple stab wounds.
The violence also left another hospital employee injured. Nidhi Sehgal, a 32-year-old staff nurse, intervened in an attempt to save Kashish and stop the assault.
In the process, she sustained a minor injury to her hand after being struck by the knife.
Hospital authorities and security personnel acted swiftly after the attack. Police said that once Kashish collapsed, Sagar allegedly tried to flee the scene.
However, members of the hospital’s security staff, along with other employees, managed to overpower him before the police team arrived and formally took him into custody.
Confirming the arrest, Superintendent of Police (Pilibhit) Sukirti Madhav said a case of murder has been registered against the accused.
She stated that both the victim and the accused were first-year paramedical students at the medical college.
While Kashish Patel belonged to Bareilly, Sagar Singh is a native of Kanpur.
In the wake of the incident, the college administration has initiated an internal inquiry. Principal Dr Sangeeta Aneja said a high alert was declared across the campus immediately after the attack.
She added that a three-member inquiry committee has been constituted to examine the sequence of events, review existing security arrangements, and determine the circumstances that allowed such a serious incident to occur inside the medical college.

पीलीभीत राजकीय मेडिकल कॉलेज एवं अस्पताल में मंगलवार सुबह हुई एक दर्दनाक घटना ने पूरे परिसर को स्तब्ध कर दिया।
22 वर्षीय पैरामेडिकल छात्रा की कथित रूप से उसी कॉलेज के एक साथी छात्र ने चाकू से हमला कर हत्या कर दी।
दिनदहाड़े परिसर के भीतर हुई इस वारदात ने न केवल छात्रों और कर्मचारियों को झकझोर दिया, बल्कि मेडिकल कॉलेजों की सुरक्षा व्यवस्था पर भी गंभीर प्रश्नचिह्न लगा दिया है।
मृतका की पहचान काशिश पटेल के रूप में हुई है, जो सरकारी मेडिकल कॉलेज में डिप्लोमा इन सीटी स्कैन टेक्नोलॉजी के प्रथम वर्ष की छात्रा थीं।
हमले के बाद उन्हें गंभीर अवस्था में इलाज के लिए बरेली के एक अस्पताल ले जाया गया, जहां चिकित्सकों के तमाम प्रयासों के बावजूद उनकी जान नहीं बचाई जा सकी।
घटना के बाद पुलिस ने आरोपी 24 वर्षीय सागर सिंह को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। वह भी इसी मेडिकल कॉलेज में एक्स-रे टेक्नीशियन पाठ्यक्रम के प्रथम वर्ष का छात्र है।
पुलिस पूरे घटनाक्रम की गहन जांच कर रही है और हमले के पीछे की वास्तविक वजह का पता लगाने में जुटी है।
प्रारंभिक जांच में पुलिस को आशंका है कि मामला एकतरफा प्रेम संबंध से जुड़ा हो सकता है। हालांकि अधिकारियों ने स्पष्ट किया है कि अभी किसी निष्कर्ष पर पहुँचना जल्दबाजी होगी।
जांच एजेंसियां इस पहलू की भी पड़ताल कर रही हैं कि क्या इस हमले की पहले से योजना बनाई गई थी।
पुलिस के अनुसार, मंगलवार सुबह काशिश मेडिकल कॉलेज के सीटी स्कैन कक्ष में अपनी ड्यूटी पर थीं, तभी सागर कथित रूप से चाकू लेकर वहां पहुंचा। दोनों के बीच पहले कुछ देर बातचीत हुई, जो देखते ही देखते विवाद में बदल गई।
आरोप है कि इसके बाद सागर ने चाकू निकालकर काशिश पर हमला कर दिया। जान बचाने के लिए काशिश ने वहां से भागने की कोशिश की, लेकिन आरोपी ने उनका पीछा करते हुए उन पर कई वार किए।
हमले के दौरान एक अन्य कर्मचारी भी घायल हो गईं। 32 वर्षीय स्टाफ नर्स निधि सहगल ने साहस दिखाते हुए काशिश को बचाने और आरोपी को रोकने का प्रयास किया।
इस दौरान उनके हाथ में चाकू लगने से मामूली चोट आई।
वारदात के तुरंत बाद अस्पताल के सुरक्षा कर्मियों और अन्य कर्मचारियों ने तत्परता दिखाते हुए आरोपी को भागने नहीं दिया।
पुलिस के अनुसार, काशिश के गिरने के बाद सागर वहां से फरार होने की कोशिश कर रहा था, लेकिन सुरक्षा कर्मचारियों और अस्पताल स्टाफ ने उसे पकड़ लिया और पुलिस के पहुंचने तक अपने कब्जे में रखा।
पुलिस अधीक्षक (पीलीभीत) सुकृति माधव ने बताया कि आरोपी के खिलाफ हत्या का मामला दर्ज कर लिया गया है। उन्होंने कहा कि काशिश पटेल और सागर सिंह दोनों मेडिकल कॉलेज के प्रथम वर्ष के पैरामेडिकल छात्र थे।
काशिश मूल रूप से बरेली की रहने वाली थीं, जबकि सागर का संबंध कानपुर से है।
घटना के बाद मेडिकल कॉलेज प्रशासन ने भी तत्काल कार्रवाई शुरू कर दी है। कॉलेज की प्राचार्य डॉ. संगीता अनेजा ने बताया कि वारदात के तुरंत बाद पूरे परिसर में हाई अलर्ट घोषित कर दिया गया।
उन्होंने कहा कि घटना के क्रम, सुरक्षा व्यवस्थाओं और इस गंभीर हमले तक पहुंचने वाली परिस्थितियों की जांच के लिए तीन सदस्यीय जांच समिति का गठन किया गया है, जो अपनी रिपोर्ट प्रशासन को सौंपेगी।
