Arvind Kejriwal’s Daughter Harshita Ties the Knot in an Intimate Wedding Ceremony at Kapurthala House
In a private and traditional ceremony held on Friday, Harshita Kejriwal, daughter of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, entered a new phase of her life as she married her long-time friend and former classmate Sambhav Jain.
The wedding took place at the historic Kapurthala House, the official residence of the Punjab Chief Minister in New Delhi.
Harshita, 28, is a chemical engineering graduate from the prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, having completed her studies in 2018.
Following her graduation, she embarked on a professional journey with the global management consulting firm Boston Consulting Group (BCG) at its Gurgaon office. Her experience at BCG laid a strong foundation for her entrepreneurial aspirations.
Last year, Harshita decided to step away from corporate life and, along with Sambhav Jain, co-founded a health-tech start-up named Basil Health.
The company focuses on delivering personalised and nutritious meals by leveraging automation and smart technology to suit individual dietary needs.
The start-up reflects both founders’ interest in health, innovation, and modern problem-solving.
Sources close to the family described the wedding as a low-key affair, emphasizing simplicity and tradition, with the guest list limited to immediate family members, close friends, and select political associates.
The ceremony was marked by warmth, personal bonds, and heartfelt celebrations rather than the usual grandeur associated with high-profile political weddings.
Among the notable attendees were Arvind Kejriwal’s long-time colleague and former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, along with his wife Seema Sisodia.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his wife Dr. Gurpreet Kaur were also present for the nuptials, highlighting the close personal and political relationships that the Kejriwal family shares within the AAP ecosystem.
The wedding festivities had begun a day earlier with pre-wedding functions held at the upscale Shangri-La Hotel in central Delhi. The event became the talk of social media after videos surfaced showing Arvind Kejriwal and his wife,
Sunita Kejriwal, dancing joyfully to a song from the upcoming film Pushpa 2. The celebratory mood was shared by their political and personal circles, with Bhagwant Mann and his wife also joining in on the dance floor, as seen in some of the widely circulated clips.
Harshita has maintained a relatively low public profile over the years, though she has occasionally been seen accompanying her father during political campaigns, especially within his former assembly constituency of New Delhi.
Despite being familiar with the political world from a young age, she largely limited her public appearances to specific campaign events, choosing to focus on her studies and professional pursuits.
During a challenging period earlier this year, when Arvind Kejriwal was under judicial custody following his arrest in connection with the excise policy case, both Harshita and her mother Sunita Kejriwal remained active within the New Delhi constituency, ensuring that political engagement with residents was maintained in his absence.
In the recently concluded Delhi Assembly elections held in February, Arvind Kejriwal contested once again from his traditional stronghold of New Delhi, a seat he had successfully defended in 2013, 2015, and 2020.
However, this time the contest proved to be extremely tight, and he narrowly lost to BJP candidate Parvesh Sahib Singh, marking a rare electoral defeat for the three-time Chief Minister.
With the wedding ceremony now complete, sources indicate that Arvind Kejriwal and his family are planning to host a larger reception for extended friends, colleagues, and well-wishers on April 20.
The reception is expected to be held in Delhi, though the guest list is likely to be carefully curated, keeping the family’s preference for simplicity in mind, along with security considerations.
