CM Yogi Adityanath Reviews Varanasi Preparations Ahead of Central Zonal Council Meeting Scheduled for June 24
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reached Varanasi on a two-day visit on Wednesday to personally oversee the preparations for the upcoming Central Zonal Council (CZC) meeting, which is scheduled to be held on June 24 in the city.
The high-level meeting is set to bring together the Chief Ministers of four central Indian states—Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Uttarakhand—for discussions on issues of regional cooperation, development, and governance.
The CZC meeting, which will be chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, is part of a series of zonal council meetings that aim to facilitate dialogue and resolve inter-state issues in a structured, cooperative framework.
It will be held under the auspices of the Ministry of Home Affairs and will serve as a platform to deliberate on subjects such as internal security, connectivity, water-sharing, infrastructure, employment generation, and regional coordination.
Top Leaders to Converge in Varanasi
In addition to CM Yogi Adityanath, the Varanasi meet will see the presence of Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, and Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. The participation of these key leaders underlines the significance of the CZC as a collaborative forum to address the shared concerns of the region’s states.
Ahead of the meeting, CM Adityanath convened a high-level review session with senior administrative and police officials, along with key members of his cabinet. During the review, he instructed departments to ensure flawless arrangements at the venue, including security, accommodation, protocol logistics, and traffic management, given the presence of multiple VVIPs.
Cabinet Ministers and Officials Join Preparations
Accompanying the Chief Minister on his inspection tour were several senior ministers from the Uttar Pradesh government, including Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh,
Labour and Employment Minister Anil Rajbhar, and Ministers of State (Independent Charge) Ravindra Jaiswal and Dayashankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’. These ministers also reviewed arrangements at various sites that are part of the CZC event itinerary.
An official spokesperson from the state government said that venue readiness, guest coordination, and hospitality measures are being given top priority.
“CM Yogi has made it clear that the arrangements should reflect the cultural richness and administrative efficiency of Varanasi, which is not only a spiritual capital but also a model of development under his leadership,” the spokesperson added.
Showcasing Varanasi as a National Hub
Officials also noted that the CZC meet offers an opportunity for Varanasi to showcase its transformation under various central and state government schemes, including Smart City initiatives, infrastructure upgrades, and the Ganga rejuvenation project.
Special attention is being paid to maintaining the city’s cleanliness and aesthetics during the event, with several civic agencies involved in the preparations.
The CZC meet is expected to feature closed-door deliberations, presentations by the Union Home Ministry and NITI Aayog, and working sessions on regional cooperation.
A joint press briefing is likely to be held after the meeting, highlighting key outcomes and policy directions agreed upon by the participating states.
As the date of the summit draws near, CM Yogi Adityanath’s proactive involvement in the preparations underscores the importance of Varanasi not just as a spiritual destination but also as a venue of political and administrative significance in India’s federal structure.
