Disha Salian Case: Father Sends ₹500 Crore Defamation Notice to Aaditya Thackeray
Satish Salian alleges defamatory remarks were made against him over his demand for a fresh investigation; former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh also named in notice
MUMBAI: Satish Salian, the father of late celebrity manager Disha Salian, has served a ₹500-crore defamation notice on Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Aaditya Thackeray over remarks allegedly made against him while he was seeking a renewed investigation into his daughter’s 2020 death.
The legal notice has also been sent to former Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh.
The development comes amid a renewed investigation into Disha Salian’s death after the Bombay High Court directed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to register an FIR and examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
The FIR registered by the agency does not name any individual as an accused.
Satish Salian had approached the Bombay High Court seeking a fresh investigation into his daughter’s death.
His defamation notice now alleges that Thackeray’s opposition to the petition amounted to questioning his intentions and credibility as a father seeking a lawful investigation.
According to the notice, Thackeray’s lawyers had submitted that Satish Salian was allegedly being “used as a tool to harass” the Shiv Sena (UBT) leader.
Salian has rejected that characterization, maintaining that his actions were aimed solely at obtaining an investigation into the circumstances surrounding his daughter’s death.
The notice describes the allegations against Satish Salian as unsupported and defamatory, and alleges that they were made without credible evidence.
It asserts that his demand for a fresh probe was a legitimate legal step rather than an attempt to target any individual.
Aaditya Thackeray rejects allegations
Thackeray, who has been named in the FIR registered in connection with the Disha Salian case, has previously denied having known or met her.
He has also described the demand for a fresh investigation as politically motivated.
In a post on X on Wednesday, Thackeray again denied any association with Disha Salian and objected to the repeated linking of his name to her death.
He said he had never met Salian and had no acquaintance with her.
According to Thackeray, attempts to connect him with the case had continued for six years despite, in his assertion, there being no evidence establishing such a connection.
Thackeray also called for the renewed investigation to be conducted without political involvement or interference.
He said the inquiry should proceed through the appropriate official agencies and be carried out impartially.
CBI probe follows Bombay High Court order
The latest dispute follows the Bombay High Court’s decision to direct a fresh investigation into Disha Salian’s death.
The CBI registered an FIR on September 14 after the court ordered the agency to examine the case.
The court had also made it clear that being mentioned in connection with the investigation should not, by itself, result in anyone being treated as an accused unless the investigation produces sufficient material.
Disha Salian died on June 8, 2020, after falling from a residential building in Mumbai’s Malad area.
Her death occurred six days before the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput, for whom she had worked as a manager.
The renewed legal and investigative developments have brought the circumstances of her death back into public focus, with the CBI now tasked with examining the matter independently.

मुंबई: दिवंगत सेलिब्रिटी मैनेजर दिशा सालियान के पिता सतिश सालियान ने अपनी बेटी की 2020 में हुई मौत की नए सिरे से जांच की मांग के बीच शिवसेना (UBT) नेता आदित्य ठाकरे के खिलाफ 500 करोड़ रुपये का मानहानि नोटिस भेजा है।
यह कानूनी नोटिस महाराष्ट्र के पूर्व गृह मंत्री अनिल देशमुख को भी भेजा गया है।
यह मामला उस समय फिर चर्चा में आया है जब बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट के निर्देश के बाद केंद्रीय जांच ब्यूरो (CBI) ने दिशा सालियान की मौत से जुड़े मामले में FIR दर्ज कर जांच शुरू की है।
हालांकि, CBI की FIR में फिलहाल किसी व्यक्ति को आरोपी के तौर पर नामित नहीं किया गया है।
सतिश सालियान ने अपनी बेटी की मौत की परिस्थितियों की नए सिरे से जांच की मांग को लेकर बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट का दरवाजा खटखटाया था।
अब उनके द्वारा भेजे गए मानहानि नोटिस में आरोप लगाया गया है कि उनकी याचिका का विरोध करते हुए आदित्य ठाकरे ने उनकी नीयत और उनके द्वारा की जा रही कानूनी कोशिश पर सवाल उठाए।
नोटिस के अनुसार, ठाकरे की ओर से उनके कानूनी प्रतिनिधियों ने कथित तौर पर कहा था कि सतिश सालियान का इस्तेमाल उन्हें परेशान करने के लिए एक माध्यम के रूप में किया जा रहा है।
सतिश सालियान ने इस आरोप को खारिज करते हुए कहा है कि वह केवल अपनी बेटी की मौत की निष्पक्ष और कानूनी जांच चाहते हैं।
मानहानि नोटिस में कथित आरोपों को निराधार और बदनाम करने वाला बताया गया है। इसमें कहा गया है कि सतिश सालियान की ओर से की गई कार्रवाई का उद्देश्य किसी व्यक्ति को निशाना बनाना नहीं, बल्कि उनकी बेटी की मौत की परिस्थितियों की जांच सुनिश्चित करना है।
आदित्य ठाकरे ने आरोपों से किया इनकार
दिशा सालियान मामले में दर्ज FIR में आदित्य ठाकरे का नाम आया है। हालांकि, वह पहले ही दिशा सालियान को जानने या उनसे कभी मिलने की बात से इनकार कर चुके हैं।
उन्होंने उनके पिता की जांच की मांग को राजनीतिक उद्देश्य से प्रेरित बताया था।
बुधवार को X पर एक पोस्ट के जरिए ठाकरे ने एक बार फिर दिशा सालियान के साथ किसी भी तरह के संबंध से इनकार किया और मामले में बार-बार अपना नाम जोड़े जाने पर आपत्ति जताई।
ठाकरे ने कहा कि उन्होंने दिशा सालियान से कभी मुलाकात नहीं की और न ही उनका उनसे कोई परिचय था।
उनका कहना है कि पिछले छह वर्षों से राजनीतिक कारणों और निजी दुश्मनी के चलते उनके नाम को इस घटना से जोड़ने की कोशिश की जाती रही है, जबकि उनके अनुसार ऐसा करने के लिए कोई प्रमाण मौजूद नहीं है।
उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि अब मामले की दोबारा होने वाली जांच को बिना राजनीतिक हस्तक्षेप और किसी भी तरह के दबाव के स्वतंत्र एवं निष्पक्ष तरीके से आगे बढ़ने दिया जाना चाहिए।
हाईकोर्ट के आदेश के बाद CBI जांच
मानहानि विवाद की पृष्ठभूमि में दिशा सालियान की मौत की जांच को लेकर बॉम्बे हाईकोर्ट का हालिया आदेश है।
अदालत के निर्देश के बाद CBI ने 14 सितंबर को मामले में FIR दर्ज की।
अदालत ने जांच का आदेश देते हुए यह भी स्पष्ट किया था कि केवल जांच में किसी व्यक्ति का नाम आने से उसे आरोपी नहीं माना जा सकता।
किसी व्यक्ति के खिलाफ पर्याप्त सामग्री सामने आने के बाद ही उसकी भूमिका पर विचार किया जाना चाहिए।
दिशा सालियान की मौत 8 जून 2020 को मुंबई के मालाड इलाके में एक आवासीय इमारत से गिरने के बाद हुई थी।
उनकी मौत के छह दिन बाद अभिनेता सुशांत सिंह राजपूत की भी मौत हुई थी। दिशा ने सुशांत सिंह राजपूत के मैनेजर के तौर पर काम किया था।
CBI को अब अदालत के निर्देश के अनुसार मामले की परिस्थितियों और उपलब्ध साक्ष्यों की स्वतंत्र रूप से जांच करनी है।
नए घटनाक्रम के साथ दिशा सालियान की मौत का मामला एक बार फिर कानूनी और सार्वजनिक चर्चा के केंद्र में आ गया है।
