Lucknow EMI Dispute Takes Shocking Turn as Youth Allegedly Forced to Donate Blood
Two private finance firm workers held after police say a mobile loan recovery effort allegedly ended with detention, forced blood donation and household labour.
LUCKNOW: A dispute over an unpaid mobile phone loan has taken an unusual turn in Lucknow, where police have arrested two employees of a private finance company for allegedly subjecting a young borrower to coercive recovery measures, including forcing him to donate blood.
The police investigation alleges that the borrower, identified as Newal, was taken away from his home on September 8 and subsequently kept at another location for several days.
During that period, he was allegedly taken to a blood bank and made to give one unit of blood.
Police say the proceeds were then taken by those allegedly involved in the recovery.
Newal was later allegedly confined at the residence of one of the suspects, where he was made to perform household chores for more than four days, according to the investigation.
The case came to light after Newal’s mother approached the police following his alleged removal from their home.
A case was registered on September 14, prompting investigators to begin tracing the people involved.
Call records led police to finance employees.
Lucknow DCP (South) Mohammad Mushtaque said investigators relied on call-detail records and other scientific evidence while establishing the identities of those allegedly connected with the incident.
Aniket Singh and Sushant Sharma were subsequently arrested. Police have also identified Shubham Singh as an alleged participant, but he has not yet been apprehended.
Authorities have announced a ₹25,000 reward for information that helps secure Shubham’s arrest.
The borrower had taken a loan for a ₹21,500 phone.
The investigation began with a relatively small consumer loan. Newal, who lives in Rajaramkhera village in the Nigohan police station area, had purchased a mobile handset from a local retailer near the end of July.
The phone cost ₹21,500. Its purchase was financed through a private company operating from Gomti Nagar, with the borrower required to pay ₹2,799 every month over a period of one year.
Police said Newal did not have a job or another regular source of earnings. He was nevertheless provided financing for the purchase and was unable to make the first instalment.
Alleged recovery operation
According to the police account, the failure to pay the first EMI was followed by a visit to Newal’s home on September 8 by Aniket and Shubham.
The young man was allegedly taken away and brought to a blood bank.
Police say he was compelled to donate blood and that the money obtained in connection with the donation was taken by those accompanying him.
The alleged recovery effort did not end there. Newal was reportedly taken to Shubham’s house, where he remained for more than four days and was allegedly made to undertake domestic work.
Police further said that when Newal was eventually released, his brother Rajkumar had allegedly paid an amount equivalent to a month’s instalment.
Authorities to examine blood bank’s role
With two suspects in custody and another still being sought, investigators are widening their inquiry beyond the individuals accused of taking Newal away.
DCP Mushtaque said the police would examine the conduct of both the finance company and the blood bank.
If investigators uncover evidence indicating that either establishment was involved in the alleged acts, appropriate legal action will follow.
The police investigation is continuing.

लखनऊ: मोबाइल फोन खरीदने के लिए लिए गए छोटे से कर्ज की वसूली का मामला लखनऊ में बेहद गंभीर आरोपों में बदल गया है।
पुलिस ने एक निजी फाइनेंस कंपनी से जुड़े दो कर्मचारियों को गिरफ्तार किया है।
आरोप है कि उन्होंने एक युवक पर EMI चुकाने के लिए दबाव बनाने के दौरान उसे जबरन रक्तदान करने के लिए मजबूर किया और बाद में कई दिनों तक घरेलू काम करवाया।
पुलिस के अनुसार, पीड़ित युवक की पहचान न्यूअल के रूप में हुई है। आरोप है कि 8 सितंबर को उसे उसके घर से ले जाया गया।
इसके बाद उसे एक ब्लड बैंक ले जाकर एक यूनिट रक्तदान कराया गया और रक्तदान से प्राप्त रकम कथित तौर पर वसूली के लिए इस्तेमाल की गई।
इसके बाद युवक को एक आरोपी के घर ले जाया गया, जहां पुलिस के मुताबिक उसे चार दिनों से ज्यादा समय तक रखा गया और उससे घरेलू काम करवाया गया।
मामले की जानकारी तब सामने आई जब न्यूअल की मां ने पुलिस से संपर्क कर बताया कि कुछ लोग 8 सितंबर को उनके बेटे को घर से अपने साथ ले गए हैं। उनकी शिकायत पर 14 सितंबर को मुकदमा दर्ज किया गया और जांच शुरू हुई।
वैज्ञानिक साक्ष्यों से आरोपियों तक पहुंची पुलिस
लखनऊ के दक्षिणी क्षेत्र के DCP मोहम्मद मुश्ताक के मुताबिक, जांच के दौरान पुलिस ने कॉल डिटेल रिकॉर्ड समेत अन्य वैज्ञानिक साक्ष्यों का सहारा लिया।
इन जानकारियों के आधार पर अनिकेत सिंह और सुशांत शर्मा की पहचान की गई और दोनों को गिरफ्तार कर लिया गया।
पुलिस ने शुभम सिंह को भी मामले में कथित रूप से शामिल बताया है, लेकिन वह अभी पुलिस की गिरफ्त से बाहर है।
शुभम की गिरफ्तारी में मदद करने वाली सूचना देने वाले व्यक्ति के लिए पुलिस ने 25 हजार रुपये के इनाम की घोषणा की है।
21,500 रुपये के मोबाइल के लिए लिया था कर्ज
मामले की शुरुआत जुलाई के अंत में हुई एक मोबाइल फोन की खरीद से हुई थी। निगोहां थाना क्षेत्र के राजारामखेड़ा गांव निवासी न्यूअल ने एक स्थानीय दुकान से 21,500 रुपये का मोबाइल खरीदा था।
फोन की कीमत चुकाने के लिए गोमती नगर स्थित एक निजी फाइनेंस कंपनी से ऋण लिया गया था। तय व्यवस्था के तहत उसे एक साल तक हर महीने 2,799 रुपये की किस्त जमा करनी थी।
पुलिस की जांच में सामने आया कि न्यूअल के पास न तो नौकरी थी और न ही आमदनी का कोई दूसरा नियमित साधन। इसके बावजूद उसे फोन खरीदने के लिए वित्तीय सुविधा दी गई।
वह पहली ही EMI जमा नहीं कर पाया।
पहली किस्त के बाद शुरू हुआ कथित दबाव
पुलिस के मुताबिक, पहली किस्त न मिलने के बाद 8 सितंबर को अनिकेत और शुभम न्यूअल के घर पहुंचे।
आरोप है कि दोनों उसे अपने साथ ले गए और बाद में एक ब्लड बैंक पहुंचे।
वहां युवक से उसकी इच्छा के विरुद्ध एक यूनिट रक्तदान कराया गया। पुलिस का कहना है कि इस प्रक्रिया से मिली रकम को आरोपियों ने अपने कब्जे में ले लिया।
इसके बाद न्यूअल को शुभम के घर ले जाया गया। पुलिस के अनुसार, वह वहां चार दिनों से अधिक समय तक रहा और उससे घरेलू काम कराया गया।
जांच के मुताबिक, कथित हिरासत से बाहर आने से पहले न्यूअल के भाई राजकुमार से एक महीने की EMI के बराबर रकम भी ली गई।
फाइनेंस कंपनी और ब्लड बैंक की जांच होगी
दो आरोपियों की गिरफ्तारी के बाद पुलिस अब फरार बताए जा रहे शुभम सिंह को पकड़ने में जुटी है।
DCP मोहम्मद मुश्ताक ने कहा कि जांच केवल गिरफ्तार आरोपियों तक सीमित नहीं रहेगी। पुलिस संबंधित फाइनेंस कंपनी और ब्लड बैंक की भूमिका की भी जांच करेगी।
यदि जांच के दौरान इनमें से किसी संस्था की कथित घटनाओं में संलिप्तता के प्रमाण मिलते हैं, तो उनके खिलाफ भी कानूनी कार्रवाई की जाएगी।
मामले में पुलिस की जांच अभी जारी है।
