Police arrest Palwal gym owner in Rajasthan after CCTV analysis; biker Sia says collision could have cost her life.
Gurugram: The driver accused of deliberately ramming his car into a woman motorcyclist on Gurugram’s Golf Course Road has been arrested in Rajasthan, while police have added an attempt to murder charge to the case following an examination of CCTV footage.
Police identified the accused as Kalyan Bainsla, a gym owner from Palwal and former kabaddi player.
He was arrested in Dausa, Rajasthan, after allegedly leaving Gurugram following Sunday’s incident.
The case took a more serious turn on Tuesday when Gurugram Police invoked Section 109 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which relates to attempt to murder.
Police spokesperson ASI Sandeep Kumar said the decision followed a detailed investigation and analysis of available CCTV recordings.
According to police, the section carries a punishment that can extend to 10 years’ imprisonment.
Officials said the investigation would continue and the statement of the injured biker would be formally recorded as part of the proceedings.
The vehicle involved in the incident has also emerged as an important part of the investigation.
Police sources said the white Maruti Suzuki Ciaz is registered in Palwal and belongs to an Army personnel presently posted in Assam.
Investigators said Bainsla had reportedly borrowed the car from the Army personnel around two days before the incident.
Police are examining the circumstances in which the vehicle was obtained and its use during the confrontation with the bikers.
The initial FIR was registered at Sector 56 police station on Monday after police took suo motu cognisance of a video of the incident that had circulated widely online.
The original case was filed under provisions concerning rash driving and acts endangering the life or personal safety of others.
The alleged collision occurred on Sunday when the woman, identified as Sia, was riding an Aprilia RS 457 sports bike with members of a motorcycle group.
Video footage circulated on social media appears to show a car travelling behind the group before moving sharply towards Sia’s lane and hitting her motorcycle.
The footage triggered widespread attention online, with questions being raised over the circumstances surrounding the crash and the driver’s conduct.
Before his arrest, Bainsla appeared in an interview with a news channel on Monday.
He claimed that the bikers were repeatedly changing their speed and cutting across his path, which he described as “pinching” his car.
He also said he was unaware that a woman was riding the motorcycle and expressed regret over what had happened.
Sia subsequently challenged that account in a video statement posted Monday night.
Responding to Bainsla’s assertion that he was “sad” about the incident, she questioned why he had not stopped after the collision if he genuinely regretted what had happened.
She also stressed the seriousness of the crash, saying the impact could have resulted in her death.
Sia, who operates the Instagram account ‘rebelwheels_sia_’, addressed the accused driver’s televised comments directly in her statement.
Her account of the incident and the circumstances surrounding the collision are now part of the broader investigation.
Police are continuing to examine the available video evidence and other material to establish precisely what happened immediately before and after the collision.
The victim’s formal statement is also expected to form an important part of the investigation as police determine the circumstances and intent behind the alleged act.

गुरुग्राम: गुरुग्राम के गोल्फ कोर्स रोड पर महिला बाइक सवार को कार से कथित तौर पर टक्कर मारने के मामले में पुलिस ने आरोपी कल्याण बैंसला को राजस्थान के दौसा से गिरफ्तार कर लिया है।
मामले की जांच आगे बढ़ने के साथ पुलिस ने एफआईआर में हत्या के प्रयास की धारा भी जोड़ दी है।
पुलिस के मुताबिक, कल्याण बैंसला पालवल का रहने वाला जिम संचालक है और वह पहले कबड्डी भी खेल चुका है।
रविवार को हुई घटना के बाद उसके गुरुग्राम से निकल जाने की बात सामने आई थी, जिसके बाद पुलिस ने उसकी तलाश शुरू की।
मामले में मंगलवार को उस समय नया मोड़ आया जब गुरुग्राम पुलिस ने भारतीय न्याय संहिता (BNS) की धारा 109 के तहत कार्रवाई की।
पुलिस प्रवक्ता एएसआई संदीप कुमार ने बताया कि उपलब्ध सीसीटीवी फुटेज और जांच से सामने आए तथ्यों का विस्तृत विश्लेषण करने के बाद यह धारा जोड़ी गई।
पुलिस के अनुसार, धारा 109 के तहत अधिकतम 10 साल तक की सजा का प्रावधान है। अधिकारियों ने कहा कि जांच अभी जारी है और घटना में घायल महिला बाइक सवार का औपचारिक बयान भी दर्ज किया जाएगा।
जिस कार से टक्कर मारे जाने का आरोप है, वह भी जांच के केंद्र में है।
पुलिस सूत्रों के मुताबिक, सफेद रंग की मारुति सुजुकी सियाज पालवल में पंजीकृत है और इसका मालिकाना हक असम में तैनात एक सेना के जवान के पास है।
जांचकर्ताओं के अनुसार, बैंसला ने घटना से करीब दो दिन पहले सेना के जवान से यह कार उधार ली थी।
पुलिस अब यह भी पता लगा रही है कि वाहन किस परिस्थिति में लिया गया और घटना के समय उसका इस्तेमाल किस तरह किया गया।
रविवार की घटना का वीडियो सोशल मीडिया पर वायरल होने के बाद पुलिस ने सोमवार को सेक्टर 56 थाने में स्वतः संज्ञान लेते हुए एफआईआर दर्ज की थी।
शुरुआती एफआईआर में लापरवाही और तेज गति से वाहन चलाने तथा दूसरे लोगों के जीवन या व्यक्तिगत सुरक्षा को खतरे में डालने से संबंधित धाराएं लगाई गई थीं।
बताया जा रहा है कि घटना रविवार को उस समय हुई जब सिया नाम की महिला अप्रैलिया RS 457 स्पोर्ट्स बाइक पर बाइकिंग ग्रुप के अन्य सदस्यों के साथ जा रही थीं।
सोशल मीडिया पर सामने आए कथित वीडियो में एक कार को बाइक सवारों के पीछे चलते देखा जा सकता है। इसके बाद कार अचानक सिया की लेन की ओर मुड़ती दिखाई देती है और उनकी बाइक से टकरा जाती है।
वीडियो सामने आने के बाद घटना को लेकर सोशल मीडिया पर व्यापक प्रतिक्रिया हुई और कार चालक के व्यवहार तथा टक्कर की परिस्थितियों पर सवाल उठाए गए।
गिरफ्तारी से पहले बैंसला ने सोमवार को एक समाचार चैनल को कथित तौर पर इंटरव्यू दिया था। उसने दावा किया कि बाइक सवार अपनी गति बार-बार बढ़ा और घटा रहे थे तथा उसकी कार के आगे रास्ता काट रहे थे।
उसने इसे कार को “पिंच” करना बताया। बैंसला ने यह भी दावा किया कि उसे पता नहीं था कि बाइक कोई महिला चला रही थी और उसने घटना पर दुख जताया था।
इसके बाद सिया ने सोमवार रात जारी अपने वीडियो बयान में आरोपी के इस दावे का जवाब दिया।
उन्होंने बैंसला के यह कहने पर सवाल उठाया कि उसे घटना पर “दुख” हुआ, और पूछा कि अगर उसे वास्तव में पछतावा था तो टक्कर के बाद उसने वाहन क्यों नहीं रोका।
सिया ने यह भी कहा कि टक्कर बेहद गंभीर थी और इससे उनकी जान जा सकती थी।
‘rebelwheels_sia_’ नाम से इंस्टाग्राम अकाउंट चलाने वाली सिया ने अपने वीडियो में आरोपी चालक द्वारा टीवी चैनल को दिए गए बयान का सीधे जवाब दिया।
उनके बयान और घटना से जुड़े उपलब्ध वीडियो अब पुलिस की जांच के व्यापक दायरे में हैं।
पुलिस घटना से पहले और टक्कर के बाद की परिस्थितियों को समझने के लिए सीसीटीवी फुटेज तथा अन्य उपलब्ध साक्ष्यों की जांच कर रही है।
महिला बाइक सवार का औपचारिक बयान भी जांच में महत्वपूर्ण माना जा रहा है। पुलिस अब यह स्पष्ट करने की कोशिश कर रही है कि टक्कर किन परिस्थितियों में हुई और आरोपी की मंशा क्या थी।
