India-China Talks: New Delhi and Beijing Review LAC Situation, Discuss Border Management
India and China reviewed the situation along the LAC in New Delhi under the WMCC framework and discussed boundary delimitation, border management and trans-border cooperation.

India and China held a fresh round of diplomatic consultations in New Delhi to assess developments along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) and discuss a range of unresolved border-related matters, the Ministry of External Affairs said on Friday.
The meeting took place on Thursday under the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC), a forum used by the two countries to address issues concerning the border and maintain communication between their officials.
India was represented by Sujit Ghosh, Joint Secretary for East Asia in the Ministry of External Affairs.
China’s delegation was headed by Hou Yanqi, Director General of the Boundary and Oceanic Affairs Department in the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
According to the MEA, the discussions covered the broader situation along the LAC as well as subjects including boundary delimitation, management of the border and cooperation involving areas on either side of the frontier.
The two delegations held detailed exchanges and underlined the significance of preserving peace and stability in border areas for improving the wider relationship between the two countries.
Follow-up to Special Representatives’ discussions
The latest WMCC meeting follows the conclusions reached during the previous round of talks between the Special Representatives of India and China.
As part of the follow-up process, India again called for an early meeting of the expert mechanism dealing with trans-border rivers.
New Delhi also highlighted the need for technical information concerning projects being developed upstream on rivers that cross or affect the two countries.
The issue of trans-border water flows has remained an important component of India’s discussions with China, given the strategic and environmental implications of developments along shared river systems.
The latest engagement indicates that diplomatic channels between the two countries continue to be used to address outstanding border questions and related areas of cooperation.
Both sides’ emphasis on maintaining stability along the LAC comes against the backdrop of efforts to manage differences and prevent tensions along the disputed frontier from affecting the broader India-China relationship.

नई दिल्ली: भारत और चीन ने गुरुवार को नई दिल्ली में राजनयिक स्तर की बातचीत के दौरान वास्तविक नियंत्रण रेखा (LAC) से जुड़े हालात का जायजा लिया और सीमा से संबंधित कई लंबित मुद्दों पर चर्चा की।
विदेश मंत्रालय ने शुक्रवार को यह जानकारी दी।
यह बैठक भारत-चीन सीमा मामलों पर परामर्श एवं समन्वय के लिए गठित कार्य तंत्र यानी Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) के तहत हुई।
भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व विदेश मंत्रालय में पूर्वी एशिया मामलों के संयुक्त सचिव सुजीत घोष ने किया।
चीन की ओर से विदेश मंत्रालय के सीमा एवं समुद्री मामलों के विभाग के महानिदेशक होउ यानची ने वार्ता की अगुवाई की।
विदेश मंत्रालय के अनुसार, दोनों पक्षों के अधिकारियों ने LAC से जुड़े व्यापक हालात पर विचार किया। बातचीत में सीमा निर्धारण, सीमाई प्रबंधन और सीमा पार सहयोग से संबंधित विषय भी शामिल रहे।
वार्ता के दौरान दोनों देशों ने इस बात के महत्व पर जोर दिया कि सीमा क्षेत्रों में स्थिरता और शांतिपूर्ण माहौल बना रहना जरूरी है।
दोनों पक्षों के अनुसार, सीमा पर शांति का सीधा संबंध भारत-चीन संबंधों में व्यापक प्रगति से है।
विशेष प्रतिनिधियों की वार्ता के बाद आगे बढ़ी प्रक्रिया
ताजा WMCC बैठक भारत और चीन के विशेष प्रतिनिधियों के बीच हुई पिछली वार्ता के निष्कर्षों को आगे बढ़ाने के उद्देश्य से आयोजित की गई।
भारत ने सीमा पार बहने वाली नदियों से संबंधित विशेषज्ञ स्तर की व्यवस्था की बैठक जल्द आयोजित करने की आवश्यकता दोहराई।
नई दिल्ली ने चीन में ऊपरी हिस्से में विकसित की जा रही नदी परियोजनाओं से संबंधित तकनीकी जानकारी साझा किए जाने के महत्व को भी रेखांकित किया।
सीमा पार नदियों का मुद्दा दोनों देशों के बीच लंबे समय से चर्चा का विषय रहा है।
चीन की ओर से ऊपरी जलग्रहण क्षेत्रों में परियोजनाओं के विकास को लेकर भारत की अपनी जल सुरक्षा, पर्यावरणीय हितों और निचले प्रवाह वाले क्षेत्रों पर संभावित प्रभावों से जुड़ी चिंताएं रही हैं।
ताजा बैठक से संकेत मिलता है कि दोनों देश सीमा संबंधी मतभेदों और उनसे जुड़े अन्य विषयों पर बातचीत के लिए स्थापित राजनयिक माध्यमों का इस्तेमाल जारी रखे हुए हैं।
LAC पर शांति और स्थिरता बनाए रखने पर दोनों पक्षों का जोर ऐसे समय आया है जब भारत और चीन सीमा विवाद से जुड़े मतभेदों को व्यापक द्विपक्षीय संबंधों पर हावी होने से रोकने के लिए संवाद जारी रखे हुए हैं।
