India Condemns Strait of Hormuz Attacks After Indian Seafarer Killed, Calls for Immediate End to Violence
New Delhi: India on Tuesday issued a strong condemnation of the missile strikes on two commercial oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz that claimed the life of an Indian seafarer and left ten other Indian crew members injured.
Describing the assaults as unacceptable acts of violence, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said such incidents posed a grave threat to the safety of international maritime routes and endangered global shipping.
Expressing profound concern over the attacks on MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa, the MEA said the two vessels together carried 46 crew members, including 30 Indian nationals.
According to the ministry, MT Al Bahiyah had 12 Indian crew members on board, of whom one lost his life while another sustained injuries.
MT Mombasa, carrying 18 Indian sailors, witnessed nine Indians being injured, with two reported to be in critical condition.
Offering condolences to the bereaved family, the government said it stood with the relatives of the deceased seafarer during this difficult time and wished a speedy recovery to all those injured in the attacks.
The ministry reiterated that the safety and welfare of Indian nationals working at sea remained a matter of the highest priority.
Highlighting the broader implications of the incident, New Delhi emphasised that merchant vessels and civilian infrastructure should never become targets during armed conflicts.
It warned that attacks on commercial shipping not only endanger innocent lives but also disrupt international trade, energy supplies and the free movement of goods through vital global sea lanes.
The government underlined the importance of restoring secure and uninterrupted navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically significant maritime corridors, through which a substantial portion of global crude oil and liquefied natural gas exports passes every day.
It stressed that freedom of navigation in accordance with international law must be protected without delay.
Voicing concern over the renewed military confrontation in West Asia, India urged all parties to immediately halt hostilities and return to dialogue.
The MEA said lasting peace, regional security and stability could only be achieved through diplomacy and constructive engagement rather than continued military escalation.

नई दिल्ली: होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य में दो वाणिज्यिक तेल टैंकरों पर हुए मिसाइल हमलों में एक भारतीय नाविक की मौत और दस अन्य भारतीयों के घायल होने के बाद भारत ने मंगलवार को कड़ी प्रतिक्रिया व्यक्त की।
विदेश मंत्रालय (एमईए) ने इन हमलों को हिंसा की गंभीर घटनाएं बताते हुए कहा कि ऐसे हमले अंतरराष्ट्रीय समुद्री मार्गों की सुरक्षा के लिए बड़ा खतरा हैं और वैश्विक समुद्री व्यापार को प्रभावित करते हैं।
विदेश मंत्रालय ने एमटी अल बहियाह और एमटी मोम्बासा पर हुए हमलों पर गहरी चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए बताया कि दोनों जहाजों पर कुल 46 चालक दल के सदस्य सवार थे, जिनमें 30 भारतीय नागरिक शामिल थे।
मंत्रालय के अनुसार एमटी अल बहियाह पर 12 भारतीय मौजूद थे। इनमें एक भारतीय नाविक की मृत्यु हो गई, जबकि एक अन्य घायल हुआ। वहीं एमटी मोम्बासा पर सवार 18 भारतीयों में से नौ घायल हुए, जिनमें दो की हालत गंभीर बताई गई है।
सरकार ने मृतक भारतीय नाविक के परिजनों के प्रति गहरी संवेदना व्यक्त करते हुए कहा कि इस कठिन समय में पूरा देश उनके साथ खड़ा है।
साथ ही हमले में घायल सभी भारतीयों के शीघ्र स्वस्थ होने की कामना करते हुए विदेश मंत्रालय ने कहा कि विदेशों में कार्यरत भारतीय नागरिकों की सुरक्षा और कल्याण सरकार की सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकताओं में शामिल है।
घटना के व्यापक प्रभावों का उल्लेख करते हुए नई दिल्ली ने स्पष्ट किया कि किसी भी सैन्य संघर्ष के दौरान वाणिज्यिक जहाजों और नागरिक अवसंरचना को निशाना नहीं बनाया जाना चाहिए।
भारत ने कहा कि इस प्रकार के हमले केवल निर्दोष लोगों के जीवन को ही खतरे में नहीं डालते, बल्कि अंतरराष्ट्रीय व्यापार, ऊर्जा आपूर्ति और वैश्विक समुद्री परिवहन व्यवस्था को भी गंभीर रूप से प्रभावित करते हैं।
सरकार ने इस बात पर भी जोर दिया कि होर्मुज जलडमरूमध्य जैसे रणनीतिक समुद्री मार्ग पर सुरक्षित, निर्बाध और अंतरराष्ट्रीय कानून के अनुरूप नौवहन शीघ्र बहाल किया जाना चाहिए।
विश्व के तेल और प्राकृतिक गैस निर्यात का बड़ा हिस्सा इसी जलमार्ग से होकर गुजरता है, इसलिए इसकी सुरक्षा वैश्विक आर्थिक स्थिरता के लिए अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण है।
पश्चिम एशिया में एक बार फिर तेज हुए सैन्य तनाव पर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए भारत ने सभी पक्षों से तत्काल हिंसा रोकने और बातचीत का रास्ता अपनाने की अपील की।
विदेश मंत्रालय ने कहा कि क्षेत्र में स्थायी शांति, सुरक्षा और स्थिरता केवल संवाद, कूटनीति और संयम के माध्यम से ही सुनिश्चित की जा सकती है।
