A Rampur woman died after allegedly being subjected to electric shocks amid a dispute over inherited land. Police arrested her husband and are investigating the role of other relatives.
Rampur (UP): What began as a disagreement over a piece of inherited land has ended in the death of a mother of five in Rampur, with police arresting her husband after a post-mortem examination raised evidence of severe electric-shock injuries.
The woman, Nasreen, was allegedly attacked after refusing to part with land she had received from her parents.
Her family says she regarded the property as a financial safeguard for her four daughters and son and therefore resisted demands to sell it.
Police have arrested her husband, Israr, in connection with the death. Investigators say he allegedly acknowledged his role during questioning and linked the assault to the dispute over the property.
The medical examination has become a crucial part of the investigation. According to Rampur Additional Superintendent of Police Anurag Singh, the post-mortem documented injuries at six locations on Nasreen’s body, with multiple burns attributed to electric shocks.
The examination also recorded such injuries on her private parts.
The nature of the injuries has given the case a particularly serious dimension, while investigators are examining the circumstances in which they were inflicted and how they relate to the woman’s death.
Nasreen’s relatives have described the fatal incident as the culmination of a longer period of conflict at home.
They allege that disagreements over the land had repeatedly led to threats and physical abuse and that Israr had warned his wife of fatal consequences if she continued refusing his demand.
Her sister, Haseen Jahan, said the family had previously noticed signs that Nasreen had been hurt but did not understand the extent of what she was allegedly facing.
According to Jahan, Nasreen had returned to the family home without explaining what had happened.
Relatives noticed injuries on her face, but she did not disclose the circumstances behind them.
The family’s allegations have added a possible history of domestic violence to the police investigation, although the circumstances of each earlier alleged incident will have to be established through evidence.
The case was formally brought to the police after Nasreen’s uncle approached the authorities.
His complaint accused not only Israr but members of the woman’s marital family of having a role in her death.
Police are now examining those allegations alongside the evidence gathered against the arrested husband.
Nasreen and Israr had been married for around 13 years. Their five children—four girls and a boy—are now at the centre of the family’s concerns following her death.
The dispute over the property appears to have been the immediate issue cited by investigators as a possible motive.
Her family maintains that Nasreen’s refusal to sell the land was driven by concern for her children’s future rather than any unwillingness to cooperate with her husband.
The investigation will now have to establish the complete sequence of events leading to her death, determine whether other family members played any role, and assess the evidence surrounding the alleged confession.
For police, the post-mortem findings provide an important medical trail. For Nasreen’s family, the case has raised questions about whether earlier signs of alleged violence could have been a warning before the dispute turned fatal.

रामपुर: उत्तर प्रदेश के रामपुर में जमीन को लेकर चल रहा पारिवारिक विवाद एक महिला की संदिग्ध मौत के बाद हत्या की जांच में बदल गया है।
पुलिस ने नसीरीन की मौत के मामले में उसके पति इसरार को गिरफ्तार किया है।
पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट में उसके शरीर पर कई जगह करंट लगने से हुई चोटों और जलने के निशान सामने आने के बाद पुलिस ने मामले की जांच तेज कर दी।
नसीरीन के माता-पिता से मिली जमीन इस पारिवारिक विवाद की मुख्य वजह बताई जा रही है। परिजनों के मुताबिक, वह जमीन बेचने के पक्ष में नहीं थी।
उसका मानना था कि संपत्ति उसके चार बेटियों और एक बेटे के भविष्य के लिए आर्थिक सहारा बन सकती है।
पुलिस के अनुसार, पूछताछ में इसरार ने कथित तौर पर अपनी पत्नी की मौत में भूमिका स्वीकार की और जमीन को लेकर विवाद को इसके पीछे की वजह बताया।
पुलिस अब उसके बयान को अन्य उपलब्ध साक्ष्यों के साथ जोड़कर पूरे घटनाक्रम की जांच कर रही है।
मामले में सबसे महत्वपूर्ण सुराग पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट से मिला है। रामपुर के अपर पुलिस अधीक्षक अनुराग सिंह के मुताबिक, नसीरीन के शरीर पर छह स्थानों पर चोटें दर्ज की गईं।
इनमें करंट लगने से हुई कई जलने की चोटें शामिल हैं। पुलिस अधिकारी ने बताया कि उसके निजी अंगों पर भी बिजली के झटके से संबंधित चोटें पाई गईं।
इन चोटों की प्रकृति ने जांच को गंभीर दिशा दी है। पुलिस अब यह पता लगाने में जुटी है कि महिला को किन परिस्थितियों में बिजली का झटका दिया गया और इस घटना का उसकी मौत से क्या संबंध था।
नसीरीन के मायके वालों ने आरोप लगाया है कि जमीन को लेकर तनाव अचानक पैदा नहीं हुआ था।
परिवार के मुताबिक, संपत्ति को लेकर लंबे समय से विवाद चल रहा था और नसीरीन पर जमीन बेचने के लिए दबाव बनाया जाता था।
परिजनों ने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि विरोध करने पर उसे धमकियों और कथित हिंसा का सामना करना पड़ा।
नसीरीन की बहन हसीन जहां ने बताया कि परिवार ने पहले भी उसके शरीर पर चोटों के निशान देखे थे। हालांकि, नसीरीन ने अपने साथ हुई कथित मारपीट के बारे में परिवार को विस्तार से नहीं बताया था।
जहां के मुताबिक, नसीरीन एक बार घर आई तो उसके चेहरे पर चोट के निशान थे, लेकिन उसने यह नहीं बताया कि चोटें कैसे लगीं। परिवार का कहना है कि उस समय उन्हें स्थिति की गंभीरता का अंदाजा नहीं था।
नसीरीन के चाचा की शिकायत के आधार पर पुलिस ने मामला दर्ज किया। शिकायत में पति इसरार के साथ-साथ ससुराल पक्ष के अन्य लोगों पर भी उसकी मौत में भूमिका होने का आरोप लगाया गया है। पुलिस अब इन आरोपों की भी जांच कर रही है।
नसीरीन और इसरार की शादी करीब 13 वर्ष पहले हुई थी। उनके चार बेटियां और एक बेटा है। महिला की मौत के बाद उसके पांच बच्चों का भविष्य भी परिवार के लिए बड़ा सवाल बन गया है।
जांच में फिलहाल जमीन विवाद को संभावित वजह के तौर पर देखा जा रहा है।
परिजनों का कहना है कि नसीरीन जमीन इसलिए नहीं बेचना चाहती थी क्योंकि वह उसे अपने बच्चों की सुरक्षा और भविष्य के लिए बचाकर रखना चाहती थी।
अब पुलिस के सामने कई सवालों के जवाब तलाशने की चुनौती है—नसीरीन के साथ मौत से पहले वास्तव में क्या हुआ, कथित तौर पर करंट किस परिस्थिति में लगाया गया और क्या उसके ससुराल के अन्य सदस्य भी इस घटना में किसी तरह शामिल थे।
पोस्टमार्टम रिपोर्ट और पुलिस पूछताछ से मिले तथ्यों के आधार पर जांच आगे बढ़ाई जा रही है। वहीं, परिवार के पुराने उत्पीड़न के आरोप भी जांच के दायरे में हैं।
मामले की पूरी तस्वीर जांच पूरी होने और उपलब्ध साक्ष्यों के परीक्षण के बाद ही स्पष्ट होगी।
