Jamui Case: Nandan Yadav Arrested After Police Shooting; Viral Video Triggers Probe Into Assault on Teenagers
Police say vehicle details seen in the video helped investigators locate the two minors; SIT examines who filmed and circulated the footage.
Nandan Yadav, accused in the Jamui assault case involving two minors, has been arrested after being shot in the leg by police. An SIT is probing the viral video.
Jamui, Bihar: A social media video has become the key breakthrough in the investigation into an alleged assault involving two teenagers in Bihar’s Jamui, leading police to a series of arrests and the formation of a Special Investigation Team.
Police have now arrested Nandan Yadav, described as the principal accused in the case, along with another suspect.
Yadav was shot in the leg by police during the operation, according to officials.
The case dates back to September 19, when a Class 10 student and a teenage boy travelling together on a two-wheeler were allegedly stopped while returning from a nearby tourist or scenic location.
Investigators say the confrontation was presented by the suspects as an attempt at “moral policing”.
What happened next was allegedly recorded on a mobile phone. The footage, which later appeared on social media, showed the alleged mistreatment of the teenagers and prompted widespread public anger.
The video became crucial evidence.
The victims had not initially approached the police, reportedly because of fear and alleged threats. The investigation gained momentum only after the footage began circulating.
Jamui Superintendent of Police Vishwajeet Dayal said investigators were able to trace the teenagers using the registration details of a vehicle visible in the recording.
Once the victims were located, police proceeded with the formal investigation and registered a case invoking the POCSO Act along with applicable provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
The police investigation has also identified Ramashish Choudhary as the alleged person who filmed the episode. He has not been apprehended so far and remains wanted.
SIT takes charge of investigation
A dedicated SIT headed by Sub-Divisional Police Officer Deepti Monali has been examining the circumstances surrounding the incident, the identities of those allegedly involved, and the subsequent online distribution of the recording.
Three arrests had already been made before Yadav, and the additional suspect was taken into custody.
Investigators are now attempting to establish the complete chain behind the video—starting with the person who captured it, followed by whoever first uploaded or circulated it online.
Police have said the preliminary findings indicate that the recording was made by one of the people involved in the incident.
The investigation is not limited to the assault itself. Officers are also examining the circumstances in which the teenagers were intercepted, and the conduct of each person allegedly present at the scene.
Police move against circulation of footage.
The authorities have begun efforts to remove the video from social media platforms, given that it allegedly depicts minors involved in a sexual assault case.
Police are also continuing efforts to locate the remaining suspects, including Choudhary, while examining digital and other evidence connected with the circulation of the footage.
The case has drawn considerable attention in Bihar after the video spread online, but investigators are continuing to piece together the events through witness accounts, the digital recording, and other evidence before completing the probe.

इसी फुटेज के आधार पर पुलिस ने पीड़ित किशोरों तक पहुंच बनाई और मामले में कई गिरफ्तारियां कीं।
पुलिस ने अब मामले के मुख्य आरोपी बताए जा रहे नंदन यादव को गिरफ्तार कर लिया है। कार्रवाई के दौरान उसके पैर में पुलिस की गोली लगी।
एक अन्य आरोपी को भी पकड़ा गया है। इससे पहले पुलिस इस मामले में तीन लोगों को गिरफ्तार कर चुकी थी।
घटना 19 सितंबर की बताई गई है। पुलिस के अनुसार, 10वीं कक्षा में पढ़ने वाली किशोरी अपने एक किशोर मित्र के साथ दोपहिया वाहन से एक दर्शनीय स्थान से लौट रही थी।
रास्ते में कुछ लोगों ने कथित तौर पर उन्हें रोक लिया और उनके साथ पूछताछ तथा दुर्व्यवहार किया।
पुलिस का आरोप है कि युवकों ने खुद को “मोरल पुलिस” के तौर पर पेश किया और इसी बहाने दोनों किशोरों को रोका। इसके बाद लड़की के साथ कथित यौन दुर्व्यवहार किया गया, जबकि उसके साथी की भी पिटाई की गई।
शिकायत से पहले सोशल मीडिया पर पहुंचा वीडियो
मामले में तत्काल पुलिस शिकायत नहीं की गई थी। अधिकारियों के मुताबिक, कथित धमकी और डर के कारण दोनों किशोर पुलिस के पास नहीं पहुंचे।
इसके बाद घटना का वीडियो सोशल मीडिया पर प्रसारित होने लगा। फुटेज के वायरल होने पर पुलिस ने उसकी जांच शुरू की और उसमें दिखाई दे रहे वाहनों से जुड़े विवरण को सुराग के रूप में इस्तेमाल किया।
जमुई के पुलिस अधीक्षक विश्वजीत दयाल के अनुसार, वाहन के पंजीकरण नंबर की मदद से पुलिस दोनों पीड़ितों तक पहुंचने में सफल रही। इसके बाद मामले में प्राथमिकी दर्ज की गई।
प्रकरण में पॉक्सो अधिनियम के साथ भारतीय न्याय संहिता की संबंधित धाराएं लगाई गई हैं।
वीडियो किसने बनाया, जांच का अहम हिस्सा
जांच के दौरान पुलिस ने रामाशीष चौधरी की पहचान कथित तौर पर वीडियो बनाने वाले व्यक्ति के रूप में की है। वह अभी पुलिस की गिरफ्त से बाहर है।
मामले की तह तक पहुंचने के लिए अनुमंडल पुलिस पदाधिकारी दीप्ति मोनाली के नेतृत्व में विशेष जांच दल गठित किया गया है। एसआईटी घटना के दौरान मौजूद लोगों की भूमिका के साथ-साथ वीडियो के निर्माण और उसके प्रसार की पूरी कड़ी की जांच कर रही है।
पुलिस को प्रारंभिक जांच में ऐसा पता चला है कि घटना की रिकॉर्डिंग आरोपियों में शामिल किसी व्यक्ति ने की थी। इसके बाद वीडियो को सोशल मीडिया पर किसने डाला और किसके जरिए यह व्यापक रूप से फैला, इसकी भी पड़ताल की जा रही है।
वायरल फुटेज हटाने की प्रक्रिया शुरू
नाबालिगों से संबंधित आपत्तिजनक फुटेज के प्रसार को रोकने के लिए पुलिस ने सोशल मीडिया प्लेटफॉर्म से वीडियो हटाने की प्रक्रिया शुरू कर दी है।
जांचकर्ताओं का ध्यान अब मामले के सभी पहलुओं पर है—घटना के समय मौके पर कौन-कौन मौजूद था, दोनों किशोरों को क्यों रोका गया, कथित मारपीट और दुर्व्यवहार में किसकी क्या भूमिका थी और रिकॉर्डिंग को ऑनलाइन किसने प्रसारित किया।
फरार आरोपियों की तलाश भी जारी है। पुलिस डिजिटल फुटेज और अन्य उपलब्ध साक्ष्यों के आधार पर घटनाक्रम की कड़ियां जोड़ने में जुटी है।
