Jharkhand Civil Services Exam Protest Intensifies as Hunger Striker Hospitalised, Talks with Government Yet to Begin
A protester on an indefinite hunger strike over alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Civil Services Examination has been hospitalised as negotiations between the state government and agitating candidates remain unresolved. The movement continues to gather momentum.
Ranchi: The agitation over alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services Examination intensified on Friday after one of the participants observing an indefinite hunger strike was shifted to a hospital following a deterioration in his health.
The development comes even as discussions between the state administration and protesting aspirants have yet to take shape.
According to Binay Mehta, a representative of the JPSC-JSSC Reform Manch, Rahul Kranti was taken to the Ranchi District Hospital at around 9 a.m. after his condition worsened.
Kranti was among seven candidates who have been observing a continuous fast at Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium, which has emerged as the centre of the ongoing movement demanding transparency in the recruitment process.
Mehta stated that Rahul Kranti had completed four days of his indefinite fast and had consumed only water during the protest.
Although his health remained stable until Thursday night, he reportedly developed medical complications on Friday morning and was immediately moved to the hospital, where doctors are providing treatment in the emergency department.
The incident has occurred at a crucial stage, with expectations growing over formal negotiations between the protesters and the Jharkhand government.
On Thursday, the JPSC-JSSC Reform Manch announced an eleven-member negotiating team comprising eight examination candidates, two journalists and one legal representative to participate in discussions with the authorities.
Meanwhile, another organisation leading the movement, the JPSC-JSSC Abhyarthi Nyay Manch, unveiled its own seven-member panel to represent demonstrators in future talks.
The platform is also spearheading the protest under the leadership of Devendra Mahato, who continues his indefinite hunger strike.
With multiple groups staking claim to represent the agitating candidates, the state government had not, by Friday, issued any official communication regarding the composition of the delegation it would recognise or the schedule for the proposed dialogue.
The controversy surfaced after the Jharkhand Public Service Commission declared the preliminary examination results of the 14th Combined Civil Services Examination earlier this month.
The Commission selected 2,204 candidates for the Main examination against 103 advertised vacancies.
Soon after the results were published, several aspirants raised questions regarding the fairness and transparency of the recruitment process.
Approximately 3.5 lakh candidates had appeared in the preliminary examination.
Initially centred on allegations of question paper leaks, the agitation has gradually expanded into a broader campaign demanding structural reforms in Jharkhand’s recruitment system and educational administration.
The movement has also drawn inspiration from recent student demonstrations held at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi over examination-related issues.
Police action during the protests has resulted in the arrest of at least 19 individuals.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren has stated that his government stands with the aspirations of the state’s youth and has announced the formation of a committee to initiate dialogue and seek a resolution to the ongoing dispute.

रांची: झारखंड संयुक्त सिविल सेवा परीक्षा में कथित अनियमितताओं के विरोध में चल रहे आंदोलन ने शुक्रवार को नया मोड़ ले लिया, जब अनिश्चितकालीन अनशन पर बैठे एक अभ्यर्थी की तबीयत बिगड़ने के बाद उसे अस्पताल में भर्ती कराना पड़ा।
यह घटनाक्रम ऐसे समय सामने आया है जब राज्य सरकार और प्रदर्शनकारियों के बीच प्रस्तावित वार्ता अब तक शुरू नहीं हो सकी है।
जेपीएससी-जेएसएससी रिफॉर्म मंच के प्रतिनिधि बिनय मेहता के अनुसार, राहुल क्रांति को शुक्रवार सुबह लगभग नौ बजे रांची जिला अस्पताल ले जाया गया।
वह जयपाल सिंह मुंडा स्टेडियम में लगातार धरना दे रहे सात अनशनकारियों में शामिल हैं, जहां भर्ती प्रक्रिया में पारदर्शिता और निष्पक्षता की मांग को लेकर आंदोलन जारी है।
मेहता ने बताया कि राहुल क्रांति पिछले चार दिनों से केवल पानी के सहारे अनिश्चितकालीन उपवास कर रहे थे।
गुरुवार रात तक उनकी स्थिति सामान्य थी, लेकिन शुक्रवार सुबह अचानक स्वास्थ्य बिगड़ने पर उन्हें तत्काल अस्पताल पहुंचाया गया।
फिलहाल चिकित्सकों की निगरानी में उनका इलाज आपातकालीन वार्ड में चल रहा है।
यह घटनाक्रम ऐसे समय सामने आया है जब आंदोलनकारी और राज्य सरकार के बीच संभावित बातचीत को लेकर उम्मीदें बढ़ी हुई हैं।
गुरुवार को जेपीएससी-जेएसएससी रिफॉर्म मंच ने आठ अभ्यर्थियों, दो पत्रकारों और एक अधिवक्ता को शामिल करते हुए 11 सदस्यीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल की घोषणा की थी, जिसे सरकार के साथ बातचीत के लिए अधिकृत बताया गया।
इसी बीच, आंदोलन का नेतृत्व कर रहे एक अन्य संगठन जेपीएससी-जेएसएससी अभ्यर्थी न्याय मंच ने भी अपनी ओर से सात सदस्यीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल घोषित किया। इस मंच के बैनर तले देवेंद्र महतो भी अनिश्चितकालीन अनशन पर डटे हुए हैं और परीक्षा प्रक्रिया में व्यापक सुधार की मांग कर रहे हैं।
दो अलग-अलग समूहों द्वारा प्रतिनिधित्व का दावा किए जाने के बीच राज्य सरकार ने शुक्रवार तक यह स्पष्ट नहीं किया कि वह किस प्रतिनिधिमंडल के साथ बातचीत करेगी।
वार्ता की संभावित तिथि और प्रक्रिया को लेकर भी कोई आधिकारिक घोषणा नहीं की गई।
विवाद की शुरुआत इसी महीने तब हुई जब झारखंड लोक सेवा आयोग ने 14वीं संयुक्त सिविल सेवा प्रारंभिक परीक्षा का परिणाम घोषित किया।
आयोग ने 103 रिक्त पदों के लिए 2,204 अभ्यर्थियों को मुख्य परीक्षा हेतु सफल घोषित किया।
परिणाम जारी होने के तुरंत बाद चयन प्रक्रिया की पारदर्शिता और निष्पक्षता को लेकर अनेक उम्मीदवारों ने गंभीर सवाल उठाए। इस परीक्षा में लगभग साढ़े तीन लाख अभ्यर्थियों ने भाग लिया था।
शुरुआत में प्रश्नपत्र लीक होने के आरोपों तक सीमित रहा यह विरोध प्रदर्शन अब भर्ती व्यवस्था और शिक्षा प्रणाली में व्यापक सुधार की मांग वाले राज्यव्यापी अभियान का रूप ले चुका है।
हाल के दिनों में नई दिल्ली के जंतर-मंतर पर हुए छात्र आंदोलनों के बाद इस मुहिम को भी नई ऊर्जा मिली है।
प्रदर्शन के दौरान अब तक कम से कम 19 लोगों को हिरासत में लिया जा चुका है।
मुख्यमंत्री हेमंत सोरेन ने कहा है कि उनकी सरकार राज्य के युवाओं के साथ खड़ी है और समाधान निकालने के लिए वार्ता प्रक्रिया शुरू करने हेतु एक समिति गठित करने का निर्णय लिया गया है।
