Massive LPG Tanker Blaze at Kaushambi Toll Plaza: Driver Burnt Alive, 17 Vehicles Reduced to Ashes
Kaushambi: A devastating fire broke out after an LPG tanker rammed into the divider near the Sihori Toll Plaza in the Kokhraj area of Kaushambi district early on Friday morning.
The collision triggered a massive blaze, turning the gas-laden tanker into a fireball within moments.
The impact was so severe that the tanker driver’s cabin was engulfed in flames almost instantly.
The driver was trapped inside and died on the spot after being burned alive.
The fire also spread rapidly across the toll plaza, leaving widespread destruction in its wake.
Eight toll plaza employees suffered burn injuries in the incident.
They were immediately rushed for medical treatment, with six of them referred to SRN Hospital in Prayagraj due to the seriousness of their injuries.
The condition of one of the injured, Anil Kumar, is reported to be critical.
The inferno destroyed 17 motorcycles and two cars parked at the toll plaza.
The control room of the toll plaza was also gutted in the fire, causing extensive damage to the facility.
According to eyewitnesses, the tanker hit the divider before anyone could react.
Soon after the collision, the leaking LPG ignited, and the vehicle was engulfed in flames.
Thick black smoke billowed into the sky, while repeated explosions from the tanker created panic among people in the surrounding area.
Firefighters battled the flames for several hours before finally bringing the situation under control.
The explosion was so powerful that several doors and other structures were blown away by the impact.
The deceased driver has been identified as Dharmendra Dubey (40), son of Atmaram Dubey, a resident of Nihawan village under Dhampur police station in Bijnor district.
Senior police officials, including SP Satyanarayan Prajapat, along with CO Satyendra Kumar Tiwari, Forensic Inspector Kumar Tiwari, Toll Collector Sanjay Nirmal, Ravindra Kumar Maurya, Anil Kumar, Shiv Shankar, Alok, Supervisor Hiramani, Krishna Pal, Atul Mishra, and Gunman Ravindra Pandey, reached the spot to supervise rescue and investigation efforts.
The accident disrupted traffic on the Kanpur–Varanasi highway for nearly three hours before normal movement was restored.
कौशांबी टोल प्लाजा पर एलपीजी टैंकर में भीषण विस्फोटक आग, चालक जिंदा जला, 17 वाहन राख
कौशांबी जिले के कोखराज क्षेत्र स्थित सिहोरी टोल प्लाजा के पास शुक्रवार तड़के एक एलपीजी से भरा टैंकर डिवाइडर से टकरा गया। टक्कर इतनी जबरदस्त थी कि कुछ ही क्षणों में गैस से भरा टैंकर आग के विशाल गोले में बदल गया और पूरे इलाके में अफरा-तफरी मच गई।
हादसे के तुरंत बाद चालक का केबिन आग की चपेट में आ गया। चालक बाहर निकलने का मौका भी नहीं पा सका और केबिन के भीतर ही जिंदा जल गया। देखते ही देखते आग ने टोल प्लाजा परिसर को भी अपनी चपेट में ले लिया, जिससे भारी नुकसान हुआ।
इस दुर्घटना में टोल प्लाजा पर तैनात आठ कर्मचारी झुलस गए। सभी घायलों को तत्काल उपचार के लिए अस्पताल भेजा गया। इनमें से छह कर्मचारियों को गंभीर हालत में प्रयागराज के एसआरएन अस्पताल रेफर किया गया। घायलों में अनिल कुमार की हालत सबसे अधिक गंभीर बताई जा रही है।
आग की चपेट में आकर टोल प्लाजा पर खड़ी 17 मोटरसाइकिलें और दो कारें पूरी तरह जलकर खाक हो गईं। इसके अलावा टोल प्लाजा का कंट्रोल रूम भी आग में पूरी तरह नष्ट हो गया।
प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के अनुसार, टैंकर के डिवाइडर से टकराने के बाद उसमें गैस का रिसाव शुरू हुआ और कुछ ही पलों में उसमें भीषण आग लग गई। आग की ऊंची लपटें और आसमान में उठता घना काला धुआं दूर-दूर तक दिखाई दे रहे थे। बीच-बीच में हुए धमाकों से आसपास के लोगों में दहशत फैल गई।
दमकल कर्मियों ने कई घंटे की कड़ी मशक्कत के बाद आग पर काबू पाया। विस्फोट की तीव्रता इतनी अधिक थी कि आसपास के कई दरवाजे और अन्य ढांचे तक उखड़कर दूर जा गिरे।
मृत चालक की पहचान धर्मेंद्र दुबे (40) के रूप में हुई है। वह आत्माराम दुबे के पुत्र थे और बिजनौर जिले के धामपुर थाना क्षेत्र के निहांव (निहावां) गांव के निवासी थे।
घटना की सूचना मिलते ही एसपी सत्यनारायण प्रजापत, सीओ सत्येंद्र कुमार तिवारी, फॉरेंसिक इंस्पेक्टर कुमार तिवारी, टोल कलेक्टर संजय निर्मल, रविंद्र कुमार मौर्य, अनिल कुमार, शिव शंकर, आलोक, सुपरवाइजर हीरामनी, कृष्ण पाल, अतुल मिश्रा तथा गनमैन रविंद्र पांडेय सहित अन्य अधिकारी मौके पर पहुंचे और राहत एवं जांच कार्य की निगरानी की।
इस भीषण हादसे के कारण कानपुर-वाराणसी राष्ट्रीय राजमार्ग पर करीब तीन घंटे तक यातायात प्रभावित रहा। आग पर काबू पाने और क्षतिग्रस्त वाहन हटाने के बाद ही मार्ग पर आवाजाही सामान्य हो सकी।
