Modi Turns 76 as Global Leaders Highlight India Ties in Birthday Messages
Meloni stresses India-Italy cooperation, Putin praises Modi’s role in India-Russia ties, while Netanyahu calls the bilateral relationship with Israel stronger than ever
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday on September 17 brought greetings from leaders in several countries, with messages from Italy, Russia and Israel placing particular emphasis on their respective relationships with India.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu were among the prominent international figures who marked the occasion.
Their messages combined personal birthday wishes with references to bilateral cooperation and India’s place in international affairs.
Meloni addressed Modi as a friend in her birthday message and wished him good health, energy and success.
She said Rome and New Delhi were continuing to deepen their relationship and work towards greater cooperation and prosperity.
Her message comes amid increasingly close engagement between the two countries.
Modi and Meloni have maintained regular diplomatic contact, while their public interactions have also attracted considerable attention on social media.
From Moscow, Putin’s message focused more directly on the strategic dimension of India’s relationship with Russia.
The Russian president credited Modi with contributing significantly to the development of what Moscow describes as the two countries’ “special and privileged strategic partnership”.
Putin also referred to Modi’s international standing and said the Indian prime minister commands considerable respect domestically and has substantial influence on the global stage.
The Russian president’s message followed his recent visit to New Delhi for the 18th BRICS Summit.
Recalling his discussions with Modi, Putin described their exchanges as substantive and productive and thanked the Indian side for the reception accorded to the Russian delegation.
Netanyahu’s birthday message took a similarly diplomatic tone, linking his greetings to the expanding India-Israel relationship.
The Israeli prime minister credited Modi’s leadership with strengthening India’s position internationally and described the relationship between the two countries as an unprecedented partnership.
He also said the friendship between India and Israel was particularly strong and expressed a desire to see the two countries take their cooperation further.
Modi was born in Vadnagar, Gujarat, on September 17, 1950, according to his official biography. He therefore completed 75 years and entered his 76th year on Thursday.
Birthday messages also came from a number of other countries and international figures.
Leaders from Sri Lanka, the Maldives and Dominica were among those who conveyed their greetings.
The US Embassy in New Delhi also conveyed birthday wishes to Modi on behalf of US President Donald Trump.
Modi responded to several of the messages on social media, thanking foreign leaders for their greetings and linking the exchanges to India’s bilateral relationships.
In his response to Meloni, he said he looked forward to continuing efforts to strengthen the India-Italy Special Strategic Partnership.
The international messages arrived alongside celebrations in India marking Modi’s birthday and his 25 years in public life.
The BJP has launched a month-long Seva Sankalp Abhiyan, with activities including public-service programmes and outreach events scheduled between September 17 and October 17.
Modi first became Gujarat chief minister in 2001 and moved to national office as prime minister in 2014.
He is currently serving his third consecutive term as prime minister.
The range of birthday messages from foreign capitals offered a diplomatic snapshot of India’s engagement with major partners, with Italy, Russia and Israel each using the occasion to underscore their respective ties with New Delhi.

नई दिल्ली: प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के 76वें जन्मदिन पर 17 सितंबर को दुनिया के कई देशों के नेताओं ने उन्हें शुभकामनाएं दीं।
इटली, रूस और इजरायल की ओर से आए संदेशों में व्यक्तिगत बधाई के साथ भारत के साथ उनके देशों के संबंधों का भी उल्लेख किया गया।
इटली की प्रधानमंत्री जॉर्जिया मेलोनी, रूस के राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन और इजरायल के प्रधानमंत्री बेंजामिन नेतन्याहू प्रमुख अंतरराष्ट्रीय नेताओं में शामिल रहे, जिन्होंने मोदी को जन्मदिन की बधाई दी।
उनके संदेशों में भारत के साथ सहयोग और द्विपक्षीय संबंधों को आगे बढ़ाने की प्रतिबद्धता भी दिखाई दी।
मेलोनी ने अपने संदेश में मोदी को अपना मित्र बताते हुए उनके अच्छे स्वास्थ्य, ऊर्जा और सफलता की कामना की।
उन्होंने कहा कि भारत और इटली अपने पुराने मैत्री संबंधों को लगातार मजबूत कर रहे हैं और दोनों देश सहयोग तथा समृद्धि के लिए मिलकर आगे बढ़ रहे हैं।
भारत और इटली के बीच हाल के वर्षों में उच्च-स्तरीय संपर्क बढ़ा है। मोदी और मेलोनी की नियमित मुलाकातों और बातचीत के अलावा दोनों नेताओं की सार्वजनिक मौजूदगी भी सोशल मीडिया पर चर्चा में रही है।
रूस के राष्ट्रपति पुतिन के संदेश में भारत-रूस संबंधों का रणनीतिक पहलू अधिक प्रमुख रहा। उन्होंने दोनों देशों के बीच “विशेष और विशेषाधिकार प्राप्त रणनीतिक साझेदारी” को मजबूत करने में मोदी के योगदान का उल्लेख किया।
पुतिन ने मोदी की अंतरराष्ट्रीय भूमिका की भी सराहना की। रूसी राष्ट्रपति के अनुसार, भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री को अपने देश में व्यापक सम्मान प्राप्त है और वैश्विक मंच पर भी उनका प्रभाव महत्वपूर्ण है।
पुतिन का यह संदेश उनके हालिया नई दिल्ली दौरे के बाद आया है। वह 18वें ब्रिक्स शिखर सम्मेलन में हिस्सा लेने भारत आए थे।
अपने संदेश में उन्होंने मोदी के साथ हुई बातचीत को सार्थक और उपयोगी बताया तथा रूसी प्रतिनिधिमंडल के स्वागत के लिए भारत का आभार जताया।
इजरायल के प्रधानमंत्री नेतन्याहू ने भी मोदी को जन्मदिन की बधाई देते हुए दोनों देशों के रिश्तों को रेखांकित किया।
उन्होंने मोदी के नेतृत्व को भारत की अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्थिति में बदलाव से जोड़ा और भारत-इजरायल संबंधों को दोनों देशों के बीच एक असाधारण साझेदारी बताया।
नेतन्याहू ने भारत और इजरायल के बीच मौजूदा दोस्ती को मजबूत बताते हुए दोनों देशों के सहयोग को आगे और विस्तार देने की इच्छा जताई।
प्रधानमंत्री मोदी का जन्म 17 सितंबर 1950 को गुजरात के वडनगर में हुआ था। प्रधानमंत्री कार्यालय की आधिकारिक जीवनी के अनुसार, वे स्वतंत्र भारत में जन्म लेने वाले देश के पहले प्रधानमंत्री हैं।
मोदी को अन्य देशों के नेताओं की ओर से भी शुभकामनाएं मिलीं। श्रीलंका, मालदीव और डोमिनिका के नेताओं ने भी जन्मदिन पर उन्हें संदेश भेजे।

मोदी ने विदेशी नेताओं के कई संदेशों का जवाब भी दिया।
मेलोनी की शुभकामनाओं के लिए आभार जताते हुए उन्होंने कहा कि भारत और इटली के बीच विशेष रणनीतिक साझेदारी को और मजबूत करने के लिए सहयोग जारी रखने की वह उम्मीद करते हैं।
प्रधानमंत्री के जन्मदिन के साथ भारत में उनके सार्वजनिक जीवन के 25 वर्ष पूरे होने का भी उल्लेख किया जा रहा है।
भारतीय जनता पार्टी ने इस अवसर पर ‘सेवा संकल्प अभियान’ शुरू किया है, जिसके तहत 17 सितंबर से 17 अक्टूबर तक विभिन्न जनसेवा और जनसंपर्क कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जा रहे हैं।
मोदी ने 2001 में गुजरात के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में अपना कार्यकाल शुरू किया था। वर्ष 2014 में वह पहली बार प्रधानमंत्री बने और वर्तमान में लगातार तीसरी बार इस पद पर हैं।
