NEET Protest Violence: 10 Jailed in Prayagraj as Police Probe Attack on BJP Leaders’ Vehicles
Prayagraj: Police have stepped up their investigation into the violence that broke out during the NEET paper leak protest in Prayagraj, arresting ten people and sending them to judicial custody while launching a search for others allegedly involved in stone-pelting, vandalism and attacks on vehicles.
The violence erupted after a demonstration over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination turned unruly.
Investigators said CCTV footage, mobile phone videos and other electronic evidence are being examined to identify those responsible for the disturbances.
Among the vehicles allegedly targeted during the unrest was that of Rohit Dwivedi, son of former Member of Parliament Ramesh Chandra Dwivedi. Police said the vehicle was surrounded by protesters and damaged in the violence.
Another vehicle belonging to BJP leader Prashant Pathak was also allegedly attacked.
The incident has led to the registration of another FIR at Civil Lines police station.
The complaint was lodged by Ravindra Kumar Jayaswal, BJP’s regional co-convenor of the Trade Cell.
In his complaint, Jayaswal alleged that while returning from a wedding function on Saturday evening, his vehicle was intercepted by a group of people who vandalised it, assaulted him, attempted to snatch his laptop and valuables and threatened him with dire consequences.
Police officials said teams of the Civil Lines police and the Special Operations Group (SOG) are jointly investigating the case.
Raids are being carried out to apprehend other suspects identified through surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts.
The ten arrested accused have been identified as Ashish Yadav, Avneesh Yadav, Amar Yadav, Abhishek Sonkar, Shivam Kumar Yadav, Dilshad, Shwetabh Singh, Mohd Vaish, Mohd Sufian Khan and Mani.
According to police, all ten have been produced before the court and remanded to judicial custody. Efforts are continuing to identify and arrest others allegedly involved in the violence.

नीट पेपर लीक के विरोध में हुए प्रदर्शन के दौरान भड़की हिंसा के मामले में पुलिस ने कार्रवाई तेज करते हुए दस आरोपियों को गिरफ्तार कर जेल भेज दिया है। मामले में शामिल अन्य लोगों की पहचान कर उनकी गिरफ्तारी के लिए पुलिस लगातार दबिश दे रही है।
पुलिस के अनुसार प्रदर्शन के दौरान हुई तोड़फोड़, पथराव और उपद्रव की घटनाओं की जांच सीसीटीवी फुटेज, मोबाइल वीडियो तथा अन्य इलेक्ट्रॉनिक साक्ष्यों के आधार पर की जा रही है। जांच में सामने आए तथ्यों के आधार पर अन्य आरोपियों की भी पहचान की जा रही है।
उपद्रव के दौरान पूर्व सांसद रमेश चंद्र द्विवेदी के पुत्र रोहित द्विवेदी की कार पर भी हमला किए जाने का आरोप है। पुलिस का कहना है कि प्रदर्शनकारियों ने वाहन को घेरकर क्षतिग्रस्त कर दिया। इसके अलावा भाजपा नेता प्रशांत पाठक के वाहन में भी तोड़फोड़ की गई।
घटना के संबंध में सिविल लाइंस थाने में एक और मुकदमा दर्ज किया गया है। भाजपा व्यापार प्रकोष्ठ के क्षेत्रीय सह-संयोजक रविंद्र कुमार जायसवाल ने अपनी तहरीर में आरोप लगाया है कि शनिवार शाम एक विवाह समारोह से लौटते समय उनकी कार को रोककर उसमें तोड़फोड़ की गई।
उन्होंने आरोप लगाया कि उनके साथ मारपीट की गई, लैपटॉप और अन्य सामान छीनने का प्रयास किया गया तथा जान से मारने की धमकी भी दी गई।
पुलिस अधिकारियों ने बताया कि सिविल लाइंस पुलिस और स्पेशल ऑपरेशन ग्रुप (एसओजी) की संयुक्त टीमें मामले की जांच कर रही हैं। सीसीटीवी फुटेज और अन्य साक्ष्यों के आधार पर फरार आरोपियों की तलाश में लगातार छापेमारी की जा रही है।
पुलिस ने जिन दस लोगों को गिरफ्तार किया है, उनमें आशीष यादव, अवनीश यादव, अमर यादव, अभिषेक सोनकर, शिवम कुमार यादव, दिलशाद, श्वेताभ सिंह, मो. वैश, मो. सूफियान खान और मनी शामिल हैं।
पुलिस के अनुसार सभी आरोपियों को अदालत में पेश करने के बाद न्यायिक अभिरक्षा में जेल भेज दिया गया है। मामले में शामिल अन्य लोगों की तलाश और गिरफ्तारी की कार्रवाई जारी है।
