Massive Traffic Jams Leave Prayagraj Commuters Stranded in Scorching Heat During CM Yogi’s Visit

Residents of Prayagraj struggled through hours of severe traffic congestion on Tuesday as extensive security arrangements and barricading were put in place during Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s visit to the city.

The situation became especially difficult due to the intense summer heat, leaving commuters exhausted and frustrated on packed roads across several areas.

According to reports, traffic movement came to a near standstill around Civil Lines and nearby routes from nearly 2 PM onwards.

Long lines of cars, bikes, buses, and auto-rickshaws were seen stretching across major intersections, while many people remained stuck on the roads for hours without relief.

To manage the Chief Minister’s convoy movement, police diverted vehicles through alternate routes and imposed temporary restrictions at several points in the city.

However, the sudden diversions and lack of smooth traffic coordination led to widespread congestion in multiple areas.

The rush also increased because of heavy crowds visiting the city during the Ganga Dussehra festival.

Markets and roads around popular temples witnessed unusually high footfall, adding further pressure on the already crowded traffic system.

The report stated that severe traffic jams were witnessed on Mahatma Gandhi Marg and nearby roads connecting key city areas.

In some places, vehicles reportedly remained stuck between 2:30 PM and 4:30 PM, causing major inconvenience to office-goers, students, patients, and daily commuters.

People travelling towards Civil Lines and nearby commercial areas said they faced difficulty even moving short distances. Many commuters were seen leaving their vehicles and walking on foot to reach their destinations on time.

At several intersections, vehicles were lined up for nearly a kilometre. Bike riders, school vans, ambulances, and public transport vehicles were also caught in the congestion.

The heat and lack of movement made the situation even more uncomfortable for passengers, especially children and elderly people.

Residents said that Tuesday’s heavy traffic was caused not only by the Chief Minister’s visit but also by increased crowd movement linked to festival-related activities and shopping in the city markets.

Traffic police personnel remained deployed at major junctions throughout the day to manage the situation and clear bottlenecks.

However, commuters said the traffic diversions and barricading created confusion, resulting in long delays and chaos on several important routes in Prayagraj.
