PM Modi Launches ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva’ Mission, Says Drug Trade Is Part of Hostile Nations’ Strategy Against India
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday unveiled the nationwide ‘Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat Sankalp Abhiyan’, describing the illegal drug trade as a deliberate strategy employed by hostile nations to weaken India by targeting its younger generation.
Calling substance abuse a grave threat to the country’s future, he urged young Indians to become the driving force behind a mass movement aimed at building a drug-free nation.
Addressing the launch event through virtual mode, the Prime Minister praised the participation of more than one crore young people representing diverse professions, educational institutions and social backgrounds.
Expressing confidence in the country’s youth, he said their enthusiastic involvement reflected a generation that is conscious of its responsibilities and committed to the nation’s progress.
He appealed to them to take the lead in spreading awareness and transforming the anti-drug campaign into a people’s movement.
Emphasising the larger implications of drug addiction, Modi said the damage extends far beyond an individual or a family.
He asserted that forces inimical to India deliberately push narcotics into the country as part of a broader design to destabilise society and undermine national interests.
According to him, the profits generated from the illicit drug trade are often linked to activities intended to weaken the country and promote terror-related agendas.
The campaign, launched in the presence of thousands of young participants representing Generation Z, also marks the beginning of a nationwide 100-week ‘Jan Bhagidari’ initiative dedicated to eliminating substance abuse among the youth.
The programme seeks to encourage sustained public participation by mobilising educational institutions, community organisations and volunteers across the country.
As part of the mission, every Sunday over the next 100 weeks will witness a series of awareness-driven activities in different parts of India.
Sporting events, walkathons, meditation programmes, cultural performances, public outreach campaigns and community interactions have been planned to reinforce the message of a healthy, addiction-free lifestyle.
The Prime Minister described the coming 100 Sundays as 100 determined steps towards achieving a drug-free India.
Highlighting the public response to the initiative, Modi said lakhs of young people had taken a solemn pledge to reject narcotics and inspire others to do the same.
He expressed confidence that the commitment made on the inaugural day would continue to gather momentum in schools, colleges, neighbourhoods and workplaces throughout the duration of the campaign.
Recalling the origins of the initiative, the Prime Minister said he was pleased that the programme had first taken shape as a pilot project in Kashi in 2025 before expanding into a nationwide mission.
He noted that the campaign had evolved through the collective efforts of citizens and institutions determined to safeguard the country’s youth from the menace of addiction.
Acknowledging the contribution of social organisations and non-governmental groups, Modi said they had jointly prepared a comprehensive action plan through the Kashi Declaration, which has now become the guiding framework for the national campaign.
He observed that an idea born in one city had transformed into a movement embracing the entire country.
Concluding his address, the Prime Minister stressed that the mission extends beyond protecting individuals and families, describing it as an essential national responsibility.
He said India’s aspiration of becoming a Viksit Bharat could only be realised if its youth remained physically fit, mentally resilient and free from the influence of drugs and other addictive substances.

नई दिल्ली: प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने रविवार को ‘नशा मुक्त युवा फॉर विकसित भारत संकल्प अभियान’ का शुभारंभ करते हुए मादक पदार्थों के अवैध कारोबार को भारत के खिलाफ शत्रुतापूर्ण ताकतों की सुनियोजित रणनीति बताया।
उन्होंने कहा कि देश की युवा शक्ति को नशे की गिरफ्त में धकेलना भारत को कमजोर करने की व्यापक साजिश का हिस्सा है।
प्रधानमंत्री ने युवाओं से आह्वान किया कि वे इस अभियान का नेतृत्व करते हुए नशामुक्त भारत के निर्माण का संकल्प जन-जन तक पहुंचाएं।
वर्चुअल माध्यम से आयोजित कार्यक्रम को संबोधित करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि देशभर के विभिन्न क्षेत्रों, संस्थानों और सामाजिक वर्गों से एक करोड़ से अधिक युवाओं की भागीदारी इस बात का प्रमाण है कि नई पीढ़ी अपने दायित्वों के प्रति जागरूक और राष्ट्र निर्माण के लिए प्रतिबद्ध है।
उन्होंने युवाओं से अपील की कि वे इस अभियान को जनआंदोलन का स्वरूप देने में अग्रणी भूमिका निभाएं।
नशे की समस्या पर चिंता व्यक्त करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि इसकी मार केवल किसी एक व्यक्ति या परिवार तक सीमित नहीं रहती, बल्कि पूरा समाज और राष्ट्र इसकी कीमत चुकाता है।
उन्होंने कहा कि भारत विरोधी शक्तियां सुनियोजित तरीके से युवाओं को नशे के जाल में फंसाने का प्रयास करती हैं।
उनके अनुसार मादक पदार्थों की तस्करी से अर्जित धन का इस्तेमाल देश विरोधी और आतंक समर्थक गतिविधियों को बढ़ावा देने के लिए भी किया जाता है।
इस अभियान के साथ देशव्यापी 100 सप्ताह के ‘जन भागीदारी अभियान’ की भी शुरुआत हुई है, जिसका उद्देश्य युवाओं को नशे से दूर रखने के लिए व्यापक सामाजिक जागरूकता पैदा करना है।
इस राष्ट्रीय पहल में शैक्षणिक संस्थानों, स्वयंसेवी संगठनों, सामाजिक समूहों और आम नागरिकों की सक्रिय भागीदारी सुनिश्चित करने की योजना बनाई गई है।
अभियान के तहत आगामी 100 सप्ताह तक प्रत्येक रविवार देशभर में विभिन्न कार्यक्रम आयोजित किए जाएंगे।
खेल प्रतियोगिताएं, वॉकाथॉन, ध्यान शिविर, सांस्कृतिक आयोजन, जनजागरूकता अभियान और सामुदायिक कार्यक्रमों के माध्यम से स्वस्थ एवं नशामुक्त जीवनशैली का संदेश समाज तक पहुंचाया जाएगा।
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि आने वाले 100 रविवार नशामुक्त भारत की दिशा में 100 मजबूत कदम साबित होंगे।
उन्होंने बताया कि देश के लाखों युवाओं ने नशे से दूर रहने तथा अपने विद्यालयों, महाविद्यालयों और समाज में भी इसके विरुद्ध जागरूकता फैलाने का संकल्प लिया है।
प्रधानमंत्री ने विश्वास व्यक्त किया कि आज लिया गया यह प्रण अगले 100 सप्ताह तक निरंतर आगे बढ़ेगा और व्यापक सामाजिक परिवर्तन का आधार बनेगा।
अपने संसदीय क्षेत्र काशी का उल्लेख करते हुए प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि उन्हें प्रसन्नता है कि वर्ष 2025 में इस अभियान की शुरुआत पायलट परियोजना के रूप में इसी पवित्र भूमि से हुई थी।
उन्होंने कहा कि वहां शुरू हुई यह पहल अब पूरे देश के लिए प्रेरणास्रोत बन चुकी है।
प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि अनेक सामाजिक संगठनों और गैर-सरकारी संस्थाओं ने मिलकर इस अभियान को मजबूत आधार प्रदान किया है।
काशी घोषणा-पत्र के माध्यम से तैयार की गई कार्ययोजना आज राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर लागू की जा रही है।
उन्होंने कहा कि काशी से निकला यह जनकल्याणकारी विचार अब पूरे देश का साझा अभियान बन चुका है।
अपने संबोधन के अंत में प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि यह केवल व्यक्तिगत सुधार या परिवारों की सुरक्षा का कार्यक्रम नहीं, बल्कि राष्ट्र निर्माण का महत्वपूर्ण अभियान है।
उन्होंने जोर देकर कहा कि विकसित भारत का सपना तभी साकार होगा जब देश का युवा शारीरिक रूप से स्वस्थ, मानसिक रूप से सशक्त और नशे सहित हर प्रकार की हानिकारक लत से पूरी तरह मुक्त रहेगा।
