Prime Minister says unanimous BRICS consensus and India’s semiconductor push reflect growing global confidence in the country.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday linked the successful conclusion of the 2026 BRICS Summit and the unanimous approval of the New Delhi Declaration with India’s growing standing in global affairs, saying the outcome demonstrated the confidence that countries place in New Delhi.
Speaking at the inauguration of SEMICON India 2026 in New Delhi, Modi pointed to the BRICS outcome as an example of India’s ability to bring diverse countries together around a common document despite differences over international issues.
The summit in New Delhi ended with members adopting a joint declaration after negotiations involving countries with differing positions on the West Asia situation.
Modi said the successful organisation of the semiconductor gathering immediately after the BRICS diplomatic engagement represented another important moment for India.
SEMICON India 2026 is being held at Yashobhoomi from September 17 to 19 under the theme “Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem.”
The Prime Minister used the occasion to underline the strategic importance of semiconductors beyond the technology sector.
He argued that expanding India’s capabilities in critical industries could contribute to greater resilience in international supply networks at a time when geopolitical tensions are affecting global trade and manufacturing.
According to Modi, India’s semiconductor expansion should therefore be viewed not simply as an industrial or investment initiative but as part of a larger effort to strengthen the reliability of global supply chains.
He said the semiconductor sector was confronting several challenges and that the international industry needed additional manufacturing locations capable of providing dependable supplies.
India, he said, was preparing to become one of those locations through policy changes and efforts aimed at strengthening the country’s supply-chain infrastructure.
The government has been pursuing an end-to-end semiconductor ecosystem covering areas ranging from chip design and manufacturing to advanced packaging, equipment, materials and electronics systems.
The broader objective is to attract investment and develop domestic capabilities across the value chain.
SEMICON India 2026 has emerged as a major international platform for that effort.
The three-day event is bringing together more than 600 participating companies, including around 300 international firms, with representatives from 52 countries.
The exhibition also includes country pavilions from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Singapore and Sweden.
Twelve state government pavilions and a dedicated Startup Pavilion are also part of the exhibition, which is designed to connect investors, technology companies, policymakers, researchers, startups and talent from across the semiconductor and electronics ecosystem.
The event comes as India moves into a new phase of its semiconductor programme.
The second phase, announced at SEMICON India 2026, is aimed at expanding support across the semiconductor value chain and deepening India’s role in global chip manufacturing and design.
Modi’s remarks therefore placed the BRICS diplomatic outcome and the semiconductor initiative within a common narrative:
India’s effort to strengthen its international partnerships while building domestic capabilities in strategically important technologies.
The Prime Minister’s comments also came on his 76th birthday, with the government and the BJP organising programmes and events marking the occasion across the country.

नई दिल्ली: प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने गुरुवार को 2026 BRICS शिखर सम्मेलन के सफल समापन और नई दिल्ली घोषणा को सर्वसम्मति से स्वीकार किए जाने को भारत की बढ़ती वैश्विक विश्वसनीयता से जोड़ते हुए कहा कि यह घटनाक्रम दुनिया में देश की मजबूत होती भूमिका को दर्शाता है।
नई दिल्ली में SEMICON India 2026 के उद्घाटन समारोह को संबोधित करते हुए मोदी ने कहा कि BRICS सम्मेलन के दौरान अलग-अलग देशों के बीच मौजूद मतभेदों के बावजूद साझा घोषणा पर सहमति बनना भारत की कूटनीतिक क्षमता का महत्वपूर्ण उदाहरण है।
नई दिल्ली में हुए शिखर सम्मेलन में पश्चिम एशिया की स्थिति सहित कई अंतरराष्ट्रीय मुद्दों पर अलग-अलग रुख रखने वाले देशों ने बातचीत के बाद संयुक्त घोषणा को मंजूरी दी।
प्रधानमंत्री ने BRICS के बाद SEMICON India के आयोजन को भी भारत की यात्रा में एक महत्वपूर्ण उपलब्धि के रूप में पेश किया।
तीन दिवसीय SEMICON India 2026 का आयोजन 17 से 19 सितंबर तक नई दिल्ली के यशोभूमि में किया जा रहा है। इस वर्ष सम्मेलन की थीम ‘Silicon to Systems: Building the Ecosystem’ रखी गई है।
मोदी ने सेमीकंडक्टर क्षेत्र की चर्चा को केवल तकनीक और उद्योग तक सीमित नहीं रखा। उन्होंने इसे वैश्विक आपूर्ति श्रृंखलाओं की मजबूती से भी जोड़ा।
प्रधानमंत्री के अनुसार, मौजूदा भू-राजनीतिक परिस्थितियों में महत्वपूर्ण क्षेत्रों में किसी देश की उत्पादन क्षमता बढ़ने का असर उसकी सीमाओं से आगे वैश्विक आपूर्ति व्यवस्था पर भी पड़ता है।
उन्होंने कहा कि सेमीकंडक्टर उद्योग इस समय अनेक चुनौतियों से गुजर रहा है और दुनिया को ऐसे नए तथा भरोसेमंद विनिर्माण केंद्रों की आवश्यकता है जो वैश्विक मांग को स्थिर तरीके से पूरा कर सकें।
मोदी ने कहा कि भारत इस भूमिका के लिए खुद को तैयार कर रहा है और इसके लिए आपूर्ति श्रृंखला को मजबूत करने से जुड़े कई सुधार किए गए हैं।
सरकार भारत में सेमीकंडक्टर के लिए एक व्यापक इकोसिस्टम विकसित करने पर जोर दे रही है।
इसमें चिप डिजाइन, निर्माण, एडवांस्ड पैकेजिंग, उपकरण, सामग्री और इलेक्ट्रॉनिक्स सिस्टम जैसे विभिन्न क्षेत्र शामिल हैं।
इसका उद्देश्य घरेलू क्षमताओं को बढ़ाने के साथ वैश्विक निवेश और तकनीकी साझेदारी को आकर्षित करना है।
SEMICON India 2026 इस रणनीति को अंतरराष्ट्रीय स्तर पर प्रदर्शित करने के लिए एक प्रमुख मंच बनकर सामने आया है।

SEMICON India 2026 ऐसे समय में हो रहा है जब भारत अपने सेमीकंडक्टर कार्यक्रम के अगले चरण में प्रवेश कर रहा है।
इस चरण में चिप उद्योग की पूरी वैल्यू चेन में निवेश, तकनीकी क्षमताओं और घरेलू कंपनियों के विकास को बढ़ावा देने पर जोर दिया जा रहा है।
प्रधानमंत्री के संबोधन में BRICS की कूटनीतिक उपलब्धि और सेमीकंडक्टर क्षेत्र की महत्वाकांक्षा को एक व्यापक दृष्टिकोण के तहत जोड़ा गया।
एक ओर भारत अंतरराष्ट्रीय मंच पर विभिन्न देशों के साथ सहयोग बढ़ाने की कोशिश कर रहा है, वहीं दूसरी ओर रणनीतिक रूप से महत्वपूर्ण तकनीकी क्षेत्रों में अपनी घरेलू क्षमता मजबूत करने पर जोर दे रहा है।
प्रधानमंत्री की यह टिप्पणी उनके 76वें जन्मदिन के अवसर पर आई है। इस मौके पर देशभर में विभिन्न कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन किया जा रहा है।
