PM Modi Urges Iran for Peaceful Resolution Amid Escalating Tensions with Israel
In a significant diplomatic outreach on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a phone conversation with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, emphasizing the urgent need for immediate de-escalation and a return to dialogue and diplomacy amid growing hostilities between Iran and Israel.
The conversation came in the wake of heightened tensions in the region, just hours after the United States launched airstrikes targeting three nuclear facilities in Iran — a move that has intensified the already fragile situation in the Middle East.
Taking to social media, Prime Minister Modi expressed his concern over the unfolding crisis.
“Spoke with President of Iran @drpezeshkian. We discussed in detail the current situation. Expressed deep concern at the recent escalations,” he posted.
He further stressed that diplomatic dialogue remains the only viable path forward and reiterated India’s consistent stance on promoting peace, regional security, and stability.
“Reiterated our call for immediate de-escalation, dialogue and diplomacy as the way forward and for early restoration of regional peace, security and stability,” Modi added.
India’s outreach reflects growing concerns over the potential spillover effects of the conflict, particularly at a time when global tensions are already high due to shifting geopolitical alignments.
As a key voice in the Global South and a strategic partner to both Iran and Western nations, India continues to advocate for restraint and peaceful negotiation as the only sustainable solution.
