PM Modi’s ‘Truth’ Remark in Vadodara Draws Attention Amid Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ Campaign
Prime Minister highlights India’s youth and rooftop solar expansion while appearing to take a swipe at Congress outreach over exam irregularities
VADODARA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday used a public event in Vadodara to emphasise what he described as the strength of India’s youth, saying young Indians are guided by the “call of truth” rather than what he referred to as the “clamour of lies”.
His comments came amid the Congress-led nationwide Chhatron Ki Goonj campaign associated with Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
Speaking at the NaMo for Viksit Bharat programme, Modi said people attempting to mislead others could be found everywhere, but maintained that the country’s younger generation was moving ahead based on truth.
The remark was seen as an apparent reference to the Congress campaign, which has sought to mobilise students around concerns over examination-related irregularities.
The outreach led by Rahul Gandhi has focused on anger surrounding alleged question-paper leaks and other problems linked to competitive examinations, including controversies surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). Modi did not name Gandhi in the remarks at the Vadodara event.
The Prime Minister was in the city of Gujarat for a packed development programme involving projects with a combined value of more than ₹35,000 crore.
During his visit, he laid foundation stones for new works, inaugurated completed projects and dedicated several initiatives to the nation.
Modi also used the occasion to point to the expansion of rooftop solar power and its potential to create opportunities beyond electricity generation.
He said around 55 lakh families across India had installed solar systems on their rooftops, with approximately 11 lakh such households located in Gujarat.
According to the Prime Minister, the growth of household solar generation was creating a wider economic ecosystem.
He cited employment opportunities for young people in areas ranging from manufacturing and installation to servicing, while also pointing to the emergence of new vendors associated with the expanding sector.
The Vadodara programme itself attracted considerable public interest even before the Prime Minister arrived.
For the first time for such a programme, organisers opened public participation through free online registration on the BookMyShow platform.
Officials said the Vadodara Municipal Corporation used the private digital ticketing service to handle registrations for the event.
The response was rapid, with all available seats reportedly being booked within an hour after registrations opened.
The unusual registration arrangement and the strong demand for entry indicated the scale of public interest surrounding Modi’s appearance in Vadodara.
The event combined the launch and inauguration of development works with the Prime Minister’s broader political and economic messaging.
While the focus of the programme remained on development, infrastructure and public participation, Modi’s remarks about truth acquired a distinct political context because of the ongoing Congress campaign.
The reference has consequently drawn attention as both parties continue to frame their competing narratives around young people, governance and public institutions.

उनके इस बयान को कांग्रेस सांसद और लोकसभा में विपक्ष के नेता राहुल गांधी के नेतृत्व वाले छात्रों की गूंज अभियान से जोड़कर देखा जा रहा है।
NaMo for Viksit Bharat कार्यक्रम में प्रधानमंत्री ने कहा कि लोगों को भ्रमित करने वाली बातें करने वाले हर जगह मिल सकते हैं, लेकिन भारत का युवा सत्य के आधार पर आगे बढ़ने का रास्ता चुनता है।
हालांकि अपने संबोधन में उन्होंने राहुल गांधी या कांग्रेस का नाम सीधे तौर पर नहीं लिया।
मोदी की यह टिप्पणी ऐसे समय आई है जब कांग्रेस का छात्रों की गूंज अभियान देशभर में छात्रों से जुड़े मुद्दों को उठाने पर केंद्रित है।
राहुल गांधी से जुड़े इस अभियान में प्रश्नपत्र लीक और परीक्षाओं में कथित अनियमितताओं को लेकर छात्रों के बीच नाराजगी को सामने लाया जा रहा है। NEET से जुड़े विवाद भी इसी व्यापक मुद्दे का हिस्सा रहे हैं।
वडोदरा पहुंचे प्रधानमंत्री का कार्यक्रम केवल राजनीतिक संदेशों तक सीमित नहीं रहा। उन्होंने गुजरात में 35,000 करोड़ रुपये से अधिक की विकास परियोजनाओं का शिलान्यास, उद्घाटन और राष्ट्र को समर्पण किया।
इस दौरान बुनियादी ढांचे और विकास से जुड़े विभिन्न कार्यों को आगे बढ़ाने पर जोर दिया गया।
अपने संबोधन में मोदी ने घरों की छतों पर लगाए जा रहे सौर ऊर्जा संयंत्रों का भी उल्लेख किया।
उन्होंने बताया कि देशभर में अब तक करीब 55 लाख परिवार अपने घरों की छत पर सोलर प्लांट लगा चुके हैं। इनमें गुजरात के लगभग 11 लाख परिवार शामिल हैं।
प्रधानमंत्री ने रूफटॉप सोलर को केवल बिजली उत्पादन की पहल के रूप में पेश नहीं किया। उन्होंने कहा कि इससे बड़ी संख्या में परिवार ऊर्जा उत्पादक बन रहे हैं और सोलर क्षेत्र में युवाओं के लिए रोजगार के नए अवसर पैदा हो रहे हैं।
उत्पादन से लेकर इंस्टॉलेशन और सर्विस तक कई स्तरों पर काम बढ़ने के साथ नए विक्रेताओं के लिए भी बाजार तैयार होने की बात उन्होंने कही।
इस कार्यक्रम को लेकर लोगों की भागीदारी भी चर्चा में रही। पहली बार इस तरह के प्रधानमंत्री कार्यक्रम में आम लोगों के लिए मुफ्त ऑनलाइन पंजीकरण की व्यवस्था निजी डिजिटल टिकटिंग प्लेटफॉर्म BookMyShow के माध्यम से की गई थी।
अधिकारियों के अनुसार, वडोदरा नगर निगम ने कार्यक्रम में पंजीकरण संभालने के लिए इस प्लेटफॉर्म का इस्तेमाल किया।
पंजीकरण शुरू होने के करीब एक घंटे के भीतर ही उपलब्ध सभी सीटें भर जाने की जानकारी अधिकारियों ने दी।
इस तरह वडोदरा का कार्यक्रम विकास योजनाओं के उद्घाटन और शिलान्यास के साथ-साथ बड़े जनसमूह की मौजूदगी के लिए भी खास रहा।
प्रधानमंत्री के संबोधन में जहां विकास, रोजगार और सौर ऊर्जा जैसे मुद्दे प्रमुख रहे, वहीं युवाओं के ‘सच’ के साथ आगे बढ़ने वाली टिप्पणी ने राजनीतिक संदर्भ भी हासिल कर लिया।
कांग्रेस के छात्र अभियान के बीच प्रधानमंत्री की यह टिप्पणी दोनों पक्षों के बीच जारी राजनीतिक विमर्श में युवाओं की भूमिका को लेकर नई चर्चा का कारण बनी है।
