Prayagraj LPG Tanker Fire: Surat Factory Worker Anil Kumar Bind Succumbs to Burns; Death Toll Rises to Two
Prayagraj: The death toll in the devastating LPG tanker fire at Sihori Toll Plaza in Kaushambi’s Kokhraj area has risen to two after 30-year-old Anil Kumar Bind succumbed to his burn injuries during treatment at SRN Hospital in Prayagraj.
He had suffered severe burns in the massive blaze that erupted on June 26, leaving several others critically injured.
According to officials, Anil Kumar Bind was a resident of Vijwaniapur village in the Jaraon area of Handia. He was immediately rushed to SRN Hospital after sustaining critical burn injuries in the incident.
Despite six days of intensive treatment, doctors were unable to save him, and he died on Wednesday.
Police said the post-mortem examination has been completed, and the body has been handed over to his family.
Family members said Anil was employed at a factory in Surat and had returned to his native village about a month ago. On the morning of June 26, he left home with his family to visit Kada Dham.
While passing through the Sihori Toll Plaza in Kokhraj, they were caught in the devastating fire after an LPG tanker suddenly burst into flames.
Eyewitnesses said the tanker caught fire unexpectedly, followed by a loud explosion. Within moments, flames engulfed the area, triggering panic among travellers and people nearby. Several vehicles were damaged as the fire spread rapidly.
Three other victims continue to remain under treatment at SRN Hospital. Among them are Kuldeep Pal Maurya, a resident of Mahajan village in Madhya Pradesh, and Hiramani, a resident of Rakhwalti. Doctors said all three are still in critical condition and are being closely monitored.
Anil is survived by his wife Sangeeta Devi, two daughters—Ragini (10) and Chandni (7)—and his four-year-old son Chandrakant. His untimely death has left the family devastated and plunged his village into mourning.

कौशांबी के कोखराज स्थित सिहोरी टोल प्लाजा पर 26 जून को एलपीजी गैस टैंकर में लगी भीषण आग की चपेट में आकर गंभीर रूप से झुलसे 30 वर्षीय अनिल कुमार बिंद की इलाज के दौरान एसआरएन अस्पताल में मौत हो गई।
उनकी मौत के साथ इस दर्दनाक हादसे में जान गंवाने वालों की संख्या बढ़कर दो हो गई है। हादसे में झुलसे तीन अन्य लोगों का अब भी अस्पताल में इलाज जारी है।
पुलिस के अनुसार, अनिल कुमार बिंद हंडिया क्षेत्र के जरांव स्थित विजवानीपुर गांव के निवासी थे। हादसे के बाद उन्हें गंभीर हालत में एसआरएन अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था।
चिकित्सकों ने छह दिनों तक उन्हें बचाने का हर संभव प्रयास किया, लेकिन बुधवार को उन्होंने दम तोड़ दिया। पुलिस ने पोस्टमार्टम की कार्रवाई पूरी कर शव परिजनों को सौंप दिया है।
परिजनों ने बताया कि अनिल सूरत की एक फैक्ट्री में काम करते थे। वह लगभग एक महीने पहले अपने घर आए थे। 26 जून की सुबह वह अपने परिवार के साथ कड़ा धाम दर्शन के लिए निकले थे। इसी दौरान कोखराज के सिहोरी टोल प्लाजा के पास गैस टैंकर में लगी भीषण आग की चपेट में आकर गंभीर रूप से झुलस गए।
प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों के अनुसार, टोल प्लाजा पर खड़े एलपीजी गैस टैंकर में अचानक आग लग गई, जिसके बाद जोरदार धमाका हुआ। देखते ही देखते आग की लपटों ने पूरे क्षेत्र को अपनी चपेट में ले लिया, जिससे मौके पर अफरा-तफरी मच गई और कई वाहन भी इसकी चपेट में आ गए।
हादसे में झुलसे तीन अन्य लोगों की हालत अब भी गंभीर बनी हुई है। इनमें मध्य प्रदेश के महाजन गांव निवासी कुलदीप पाल मौर्य और रखवलती निवासी हीरामणि शामिल हैं। सभी घायलों का प्रयागराज के एसआरएन अस्पताल में विशेषज्ञ डॉक्टरों की निगरानी में इलाज चल रहा है।
अनिल अपने पीछे पत्नी संगीता देवी, दो बेटियां रागिनी (10) और चांदनी (7) तथा चार वर्षीय बेटे चंद्रकांत को छोड़ गए हैं। उनकी असमय मौत से परिवार पर दुखों का पहाड़ टूट पड़ा है, जबकि विजवानीपुर गांव में शोक की लहर है।
