Prayagraj Tragedies: Contractor Dies by Suicide, Handloom Manager Killed in Road Accident
Two separate incidents in Prayagraj have left families grieving and the community shaken, highlighting the deeply personal struggles and sudden tragedies that can unfold in everyday life.
Contractor Dies by Suicide in Kareli
In the Kareli area, 48-year-old contractor Saeeduzzafar Khan died after consuming poison on Saturday night.
Police officials confirmed that no suicide note was recovered, though family members have pointed to ongoing domestic tensions as a possible cause.
Saeeduzzafar, a resident of C-Block Kareli, had been working as a contractor with the Police Headquarters, following in the footsteps of his late father, Mohammad Anwar Khan.
According to sources, he went to a graveyard in the Khuldabad area—where his father is also buried—and consumed poison there.
In a distressing final act, he reportedly called a relative, informing them of what he had done.
Family members rushed to the spot and found him unconscious. He was immediately taken to a hospital, but doctors were unable to save him.
His body was later brought to his second residence in Gulabbari, Khuldabad, where police were informed.
After postmortem examination, which confirmed death due to ingestion of a toxic substance, the body was handed over to his brother.
Saeeduzzafar is survived by his wife and two children. Those close to him say he had been under emotional strain due to family disputes in recent months.
Handloom Showroom Manager Killed in Road Accident
In another tragic incident, the same night, a 50-year-old man lost his life in a road accident in the Jhunsi area.
Surendra Kumar Yadav, originally from Chandauli district, was working as a manager at a handloom showroom in Jhunsi and lived in a room behind the store.
He was the only son of his parents and the sole breadwinner for his family.
At around 9:30 pm, while crossing the road on foot, he was struck by a speeding motorcycle.
The entire incident was captured on a nearby CCTV camera. His colleagues rushed him to a private hospital in Civil Lines, but he succumbed to his injuries during treatment.
Police are currently reviewing the CCTV footage to identify and trace the motorcycle rider involved in the accident.
Surendra Kumar is survived by his wife, Shakuntala Devi, a 14-year-old son, and a 12-year-old daughter. News of his sudden death has left his family devastated.
Both incidents serve as stark reminders of how fragile life can be—whether through silent personal struggles or unforeseen accidents—and underline the importance of timely support, awareness, and accountability in society.
